I miss this guy what happened to him?! Wish he still toured. the age of reason is one of the best EDM albums of all time IMO.

Holy crap! I always imagined that he had an enormous record collection, and sent his stuff off to be mastered! Wrong on both counts - what an inspiring guy. Again with Beatport sponsoring interviews with guys who release their music for free! LOL. Check him out on Pretty Lights Music and on Facebook. Wish it were longer to be honest, but very grateful nonetheless. Always wanted to see an interview of him.

I really like Gramatiks productions. That being said I wish I never watched this video and learned how he plays ""live"" because thats a effing joke and the reason people dont take dance music seriously. Oh and wtf is his friends name that plays guitar? The guitar playing in his recent albums in my opinion pretty much defines what his music is today. You would think he would give his "friend" a little more credit....
@ChazWick49 жыл бұрын
+Mulligan The way he makes beats isn't really doable live. He would have to start from scratch; re-gather the original sample, chop up the parts he uses, lay each kick/snare/hi-hat down individually, lay the bass down, copy/paste all the patterns etc.. that process alone takes hours. I think it's pretty cool that he takes the original track and adds to it. Who would want to go to a show and hear the beat exactly how it sounds anyway? He brings a live guitarist and adds different drum-loops and synth layers to make it more interesting.
@bradyg77419 жыл бұрын
+ChazWick4 he brings people playing horns out too. It's awesome.
@TomahAwkDJ78 жыл бұрын
He could play the chops on the pads with a midi controller like some guys do on old mpc or new maschine, etc... Still his music is awesome but I agree with Mulligan.

@thelocust649 жыл бұрын
im sorry but i dont consider this guy to be a "songwriter". He takes things that are laready written and ads a heavier beat to them...hes a remixer. where the credit the the real composers who create his sound?
@bradyg77419 жыл бұрын
Not all of his songs are only instrumentals. And he's still "writing" the song, just electronically.
@ChazWick49 жыл бұрын
+thelocust64 I'm sure he clears his samples. This is how classic hip-hop beats have been made since the 80's bud, respect the craft or don't listen
@thelocust649 жыл бұрын
ChazWick4 I wasn't worried about the copyrights. I realize how its made. I just think if someone took a Monet painting and then graffiti'd over it they would have to atleast state the original artists. Its their right to release it as a piece of art but I think they should name the original artist on principal
@chilliilli47598 жыл бұрын
+thelocust64 listen to "war of the currents" or "23 Flavours"
@ChazWick48 жыл бұрын
thelocust64 Clearing a sample deals with all of that. Usually the original artist gets royalties.. sometimes album credits, sometimes they request no credit at all. It all depends on what they want when you contact them for permission.
