FYI, when back spinning between records, a crayon can be used as a good cue marker to let you know where the sample you want to use is. Also on average at 33 rpm on the platter, most songs have 6 revolutions of the platter for every 4 bars of music. This is the formula that Grandmaster Flash used when he invented turntablism.

Hey DJ TLM how about making tutorials on transition techniques.
@RBRYAN26018 жыл бұрын
Ehh yo what's good TLM! I currently am using Traktor along with my turntables. Like many, you have inspired me with very good knowledge when it comes to Djing. I have been djing for a long while now and have played some really big venues and now i want to get into the turntablism side of the spectrum. I know this might sound like a dumb question on your backspin video. When you have one deck playing then transition into deck B, how do you know exactly how many spins on the vinyl to get back on the one beat without using your headphones to cue up? I use the markers I have on both vinyls but seem to have trouble still? Thanks I'm advance! Dj R.H.

Hey! I've been thinking of upgrading from my Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 and I'm thinking about going to Digital Vinyl. But I was wondering why Steve Aoki and most DJ's I listen to use pioneer players not vinyl. If anyone knows please tell me. Thanks
@infa768 жыл бұрын
They are a different kind of dj's (most of them shouldn't be called dj's at all). If you want to start with turntablism dvs is a good option, also other gear will work but for this turntables are still the best choice!

Does anyone else have yhis problem? I have a NS7II and scartching on it does not sound very good. It almost sounds fake in a way. I mix alot of trap, EDM, hip hop, and top 40. I have seen a lot of differences with the genre of music.

I want to start learning to scratch but the most I want to spend on turntables is 500, what would you recommend for the whole set.
@blakegaylor69238 жыл бұрын
Used Stanton srt8 -80s are a good starter table
@shemmy73028 жыл бұрын
Pioneer plx 500 are good starter turntables. Those are the budget turntables to the plx 1000
@marxsoundaudioservices61608 жыл бұрын
I had a chance to play with the 500's and the 1000's in the Pioneer booth at the big DJ Expo a couple weeks ago. There was a slight difference in how they feel when you are putting in work with them, but definitely NOT TWICE THE PRICE DIFFERENCE! Physically they feel alot different as the 1000's are more sturdy/heavy, and what I can describe as "tanky" feeling? They are both nice turntables, but seriously, you can function the 500's and an upgraded cartridge set. -thats where my mind was going. Also the Reloop stu was nice too if you use Serato
@djTLMtv8 жыл бұрын
+京都アンソニー I would have to recommend Google 😉 But in all seriousness, make sure they are direct drive turntables. You should be able to find some 'starter kit' turntable sets for that price. Or look for second hand pro turntables like SL1200's, PDX2000/3000, TTX's, STR8's, etc

Thank you

I love my DDJ-RX, but as soon as Pioneer comes out with a Rekordbox version of the S9: hopefully they will make an "R9"-I am definitely getting some turntables and Rekordbox DVS! Although I can perform the back spins on the DDJ-RX, its harder and less "clean" as when you pull back on a full size vinyl! With the smaller diameter of the jog wheel, and my "basketball hands" i cant get the true spin distance I need to make quicker backspins hit on the point because it falls short of where the wave form point starts. You almost have to pull a 6" controller jog wheel a full 360° to travel the same distance as a half pull on a full size platter. Do other "controllerists" have this issue? When I have practiced on other DJ's full sized vinyl dvs setups, my motions are so much smoother with my platter hand. But man, my current setup is so mobile, the trade off in space in my vehicle from a controller to turntables inside a flight case is huge!
@djTLMtv8 жыл бұрын
+MarxSound Audio Services I know what you mean. It is a very different feeling and small jogwheels and basketball hands aren't the best combo 😄😄
@starlite35978 жыл бұрын
I pretty sure you can now use s9 with recordbox or am I mistaken
@marx41mans8 жыл бұрын
+starlite3597 No you are not mistaken...but if Pioneer makes a "R9" it will have dedicated buttons and functions specifically made for Rekordbox. That is the reason why they have their "R" series and "S" series gear lines now. Truthfully, I don't think they well continue to make Serato gear much longer
@starlite35978 жыл бұрын
+Gregory J. Mansfield it's not officially supported but does work on the s9 there is a person on KZbin showing it also :)
@marx41mans8 жыл бұрын
+starlite3597 Yup, i have heard you can do some "hacks" and get it working with Rekordbox! But as I just recently got the DDJ-RX, Im cool with waiting. I just really WANT some turntables! They are not critical to my workflow or my dj bookings though.

I meant to say. I have not seen a lot of differences with the genre of music that I used.
