Some history update on the IR-01: It was nearly perfect for W13 and W1 at Suzuka Thuesday-Thursday 12gmt until iracing gave in to all the drivers complaining about having trouble running in a straight line. It was tricky but manageable. Thanks to a kneejerk reaction this car was at its worst stage for the rest of the season. After that they tweek it a bit, but it took another 2 season and the qualifier series to bring this car back. Thanks to the very low payout for the WCS compared to PESC only the die hard open wheeler were interested. And lets be real, that was the intended purpose for this car. Not to replace the McLaren F1 car, and not be a modern car, but to have something for an WDCS that you can change without having to ask for any data approval or anything. That was the whole point, and it was stated in the announcement for this car. After that season concluded it was back to being a few races per season that went official, until in 22S3 a bunch of Japanese guys picked up the car and created a Sunday 12gmt SOF race, which since W1 always went official and usually has a SOF of ~2400+ iR and 14ish drivers. After some setup tweaks from iRacings side and some physics changes after 22S2 that of course are not in the patch notes the car is currently in its fastest version and easier to drive then ever.

So it sounds like their freedom to tweak the car however they want sounded like a blessing but ended up being a curse. Which I guess makes sense who wants to put time and effort into a car if you don’t even know how it’s gonna drive next season

@@DJYeeJay Kinda, but there were many problems. Communication was as always very bad from iR's side. We had many questions, but as per usual received no answers. Nothing regards the physics, will they stay the same, will the chance something? The constant tweaking with the tire sets. At one point only the Hard tires were viable, then the next season without any warning the Medium was the go to tire... It took them 1 year to announce the WDCS, it took them another 2 season to officially confirm that there won't be a 2nd. Another example is the target audience, the "pro" level open wheeler drivers don't do official races. During the qualifier series we had 1 race on Wednesday and then the super session on Thursday. There was no need due to the lack of participation and the questionable time slot for the super session to do more than these 2 races. It was nearly the same 30 people every week who made the Thursday race and there wasn't really much you had to do. The car was never created for the bigger audience, so it was doomed from the start, but at least we have a small dedicated community nowadays that enjoys this different typ of open wheeler.

Easier to drive than ever? Idk... I ran an official Fuji race this We with a whopping 11 drivers. But it just feels so wrong in fast corners with way too little steering input requirement

@@NochEinKamel Fuji was a bit tricky with the high track temps. The little steering input is just how this car works. You can lower the steering ratio if you don't wanna get used to it and make the car understeer bis nach Meppen. Just because its the easiest version of the car doesn't mean you can just jump in and drive. Its still the 2nd fastest car on the service. It takes a bit a practice. I know most don't wanna do that, but thats just how it is.

I think the Nascar Coke series, is really hurting the official nascar races, the iracing marketing has 80% of drivers brainwashed into thinking they will get a trophy from dale jr one day, and it makes them drive like crazy desperate mad idiots.

most recently the Radical SR10. The SR8 was BY FAR my favorite car. Everything about that car was absurd! it had a V8 made from putting two motorcycle engines together, so its exhaust note was extremely unique. The way you could actually balance the car using the throttle pedal through corners made it feel so nimble. That car absolutely required 100% focus and completing a race was much more rewarding than almost any other car on the service. But then it got replaced with the SR10. The SR10 is nothing like the SR8, it was so much more understeery compared to the previous version. It was waay faster on the straights than the SR8 ever was but, there was so much understeer in the corners that the SR8 was actually quicker mid corner. I thought the SR10 was going to be an even more bonkers version of the SR8 but it turned out to be so much more watered down. It was such a sad way for the SR8 to go. It had been seeing some very significant growth every season for the past year (at some point I think it was the fastest growing road series on iRacing) or so and now the Radical Challenge series is essentially dead.

fr bruh, got my first win in radical at nords, one of the cars I fully connected to and could drive to the limit, took a break from iracing for about a year after that and saw the updated one and was like, this’ll be sick. Was so sad after a few laps and it was dreadful

Same thing here, the sr8 was the first car I designed a skin for lol I fell in love with the thing and then the very next season poof no more sr8. Very sad indeed. Sr10 just doesn't do it the same

iRacing Superspeedway is #1 for me for sure. Bought it solely because I thought it'd be a fun track to mess around with for AI races when I felt like doing something kinda goofy and not so serious, but it ended up being completely useless because the AI have a massive wreck going into turn 3 on lap 1 almost every single time. And if they don't wreck there, they will for sure before the end of lap 2. Complete waste of money unless the AI gets updated

@@jacobevenson8702 I meant the AI at this track specifically. They have to be trained at each track individually. It's been for sure 2, possibly 3 builds, can't remember tbh, that I've tried AI races there and and it's been pretty much the same each time no matter what car or AI settings I use

The thing that gets me about this track is they use it for Carburetor Cup, but they limit the cars speeds. WTF is the point of that???? IMO they should ditch ISS and Monza in carb cup and add Atlanta and Phoenix.

@@insertcoinracing1582 Yeah I agree with that too. Basically the whole point of the old NR2003 version of this track was that it was unrestricted. I was a bit disappointed the first time I tried it and it was the usual tapered spacer Superspeedway package

I'm surprised the AI wreck out there. I don't have that track, but it must almost certainly be a track specific problem. From my experience at other ovals (Daytona and Talladega included but others as well) the AI crashes only at a fraction of the frequency of real drivers.

My opinion on Martinsville is that it's not very good in official races because it's not a track where you can drive aggressive on. If you're in a league that runs clean races (as I am), Martinsville can be a good purchase.

The hillclimb is made for single car runs. It’s pretty awesome, but yeah you should know what to expect. Great video!

Agree with the iR-01. I love it *now* after updates they put into it with Mercedes' feedback... but it was a trainwreck that first week. I own all tracks on iRacing... and I have to say Lankebanen is my worst buy. Rallycross is pretty dead and you can only get races at layouts on NASCAR ovals, which Lankebanen isn't one.

I am a Nascar Oval guy first, Road racer 2nd and I love dirt too. I will race street stocks both series, Mazda, all NASCAR series with fenders, F4, INDY, Dirt midget, sprint cars, and silver Crown if I can find a race. I will race everything I can. I am having so much fun.

Martinsville was the first track I bought and honestly came to love it. The braking and the complexity of the turns make it a really challenging track to be consistent at. Watching real races at Martinsville I see a lot of the same low speed wrecks but in iRacing and with how greedy people can be it can get really rough for sure

The iR-01 was never supposed to be "iracing's take on a modern F1 car", it was made as an up to date modern take on the V10 F1 cars of the past with very limited driver assists. It was made to be hard as hell to master. Personally I've never ran official races with it, but it is without a doubt one of the most fun cars in the sim when you get it right in a lap. At least it was before they started messing with it again.

iR01 was supposed to be a "what if" formula car. Like what if F1 had kept the V10s? It was never supposed to be the F1 car for iRacing - just a fun fantasy exercise in a collab with Dallara. That's my understanding of where it fits into the iRacing world.

There is competitive Time Attack (not time trials) Mt. Washington stuff. Time Attack not too popular like time trials but it's a good way to do Mt. W. since it's a single car kinda track.

My most regrettable purchases are the silver crown and asphalt sprint car. Silver crown in fun but just doesn’t have the popularity for whatever reason. I remember not caring when the sprint car came but saw a ton of hosted sessions and bought it. Super hard to drive and just like the silver crown, has little participation

The Mount Washington climb is even fun in person at slow speeds. Every year they have motorcycle-only days, where everybody brings out their shiniest toy to ride to the top and get some overpriced food and trinkets. Even at slow speeds, some of those curves towards the top can make your stomach do flips, and it's just plain beautiful.

For me, it's IR-01, Riley DP, Chili Bowl, RUF RT12, and FW-31. I thought the IR was interesting, so gave it a whirl. The Chili bowl is just a terrible track to actually race at. The RUF was my first GT3 purchase, right as it started to be replaced. The DP and FW, to be fair, I bought early on, not realizing they were lower participation series, also in the process of being replaced, so I've literally never driven either one, so I guess in a way that's my fault. Wish I had that $100ish back lol. Great vid!

2 years ago I purchased around $130 worth of tracks and cars playing on the shadow cloud pc on my phone using a controller for a few months , it was weird at first I never played against other players other than a few dirt ovals, I really liked that you could race against ghost players that way you don't cause a wreck and the most fun I had was doing solo time attack's dirt ovals, I've been itching lately to save up to get a gaming PC and a basic wheel set up to get back to racing but this time on wheel.

Also worth noting with the iR-01 that it was a pandemic project because they couldn't travel to scan real cars or tracks and wanted new content. I think it's still a fun car now that it's been updated because I enjoy F1 cars but don't enjoy battery management, but I definitely understand why it's not more popular.

SO I commentated RaceSpotTV's Friday Night Primetime, when we would cover an official series' top split. Usually showcasing new cars. When the IR-01 was first released, that was the one to do obviously. First race ever, there were 2 full splits of cars. But the race had already thinned out, so you could unfortunately see where it was going. Sure enough, there was only 1 full split the next race. And by even the halfway point, you were looking to get more than 12. By the end of the season, we were having only 7 or 8 regulars. It was horrendous. Never seen a series die so quickly.

The Williams F1 car on iRacing was a complete waste of money but it’s gotta be my favorite car I own. I was around 2-3 years old when the Williams F1 Car was released on iracing so it’s got a nice nostalgia factor for me. Although that car drives freaking amazing and it’s a V8. Nothing can go as with a V8

Normally I don’t regret a lot of Iracing purchases because even if I don’t use them for a lot of official races they can still be fun for hotlaping or AI. With that said, a few I regret are the ones that I thought would be cool but turned out to not like (Ford GT, and Subaru WRX STI), The ir-01 for reasons stated in the video. Lastly any car that was rendered obsolete by newer ones or better concepts (Porsche 919, Ferrari 488 gt3, Porsche 911 gt3 991)

My Top 5 most regrettable purchases: 5 - Brazilian Stock Car. Not really knowing what it was, I wanted to try something new and I don't mind fast bulky cars. I bought it, did a Week 13 race and then never touched it again because I hate how it handles. Not to mention that you have to handle the paint file a certain way or else half of the windshield is blocked out. Doesn't help that on launch the car flopped and the official series gets more than 3 people once in a blue moon. 4 - BMW M4 GT4. I like BMWs and the car looked funny so I bought it. Next to the Kia Optima, it is my belief that the BMW M4 GT4 is the worst handling road car on the service. Very not fun to drive because it is a test of mitigating understeer like it weighs 30 tons. The only redeeming factor for the Kia Optima is that its a free piece of content and hitting the wall in that car makes you flip a ton. 3 - Stafford Motor Speedway. I just really don't like unremarkable flat short tracks and I very rarely even use it. 2 - Porsche Mission R. Reminds me of the Kia Optima but with none of the charm. I heard that they updated it to make it sound less grating and to drive better but I don't think that'll make me like the car again. I only got it because of the appeal of iRacing having an electric car but I don't really feel anything when I think about it. 1 - Bark River. I'm a big dirt road person and I don't have any fond memories of Bark River. Having to go to it multiple times a season because iRacing refuses to do anything about dirt road makes me sad and its a large reason why I primarily do Pro 2 Lites. Both layouts of Crandon clear Bark River by a mile.

Worst Purchases (Not Otherwise Listed) 5. The Touring Cars: Civic R/Elantra N/Veloster N - They're the Edsel of Road Racing because they sit in between the "slow" bodied cars (Solstice/Jetta/Miata/Mustang FR500S) and the GT4s or even the GT3s, with not enough of a performance gap between them to justify owning them during your career. 4. Lucas Oil Off Road Pro 4 Trucks - I bought them thinking I'm going to race officials and get my Dirt Road license up to A along with everything else, and some of the tracks look fun, like Bark River... But every time I've sat down and hit "Up Next" and the Pro 4 is there, there's always a more fun, MORE POPULATED race happening... 3. NASCAR '87s - A bunch of people love them, and I bought all of them over time, and will buy the Oldsmobile when it comes out. That said, I hate the way it drives, and it really shows how far tire technology has come in 35 years. 2. The Subaru WRX STi, and the Fiesta- Like the Pro 4 Trucks, I thought I wanted to get better at Dirt Road, so I got the other two cars that weren't the VW. And used them each once or twice. I LOVE the Subaru, but the King of the Hill Series I run in the NTRL uses the "Full fat" VW for the Dirt Road weeks, since it's free, and it's REALLY obvious looking at Pubbie races that the WRX has an actual advantage over the other cars - whether it's actually faster, or just easier/more predictable for people to drive, I don't know, but STi takes the podium over VW with regularity, so we lock to just the free car to avoid P2W on Dirt. 1. The Supercars Ford Mustang GT - I bought the Holden ZB and I love it. I hate the way the Supercar Mustang looks. WHY DID I DO THIS?

I think I've had one "good" race at Martinsville, and that was in the Late Models. The lack of cautions played a big part, but I think those cars are just easier for people to handle too. That said, I still had to dodge an upside-down car in that race, so this is all relative to the average Martinsville experience, lol. I'm also one of those Scrooges who feels iRacing Superspeedway is great for Carb Cup, hosted, and Week 13 stuff, but not so much for official racing. But, I'm happy to ignore it if people enjoy when it shows up on occasion. It looks like it's going to be on the Xfinity offseason schedule soon, so superspeedway fans can look forward to that!

We got IRSS 3 weeks in a row in C-B then A. I usually run 1 of them when they pop up, but these days I gotta be in voice call to enjoy superspeedway racing and especially at IRSS. Gotta do something to pass the time during the 10 minute cautions.

Ive actually come to enjoy the IR01 after it became the default car for the Dallara Dash series. Driving it on an oval is really fun but always remember to start in 2nd or 3rd.

I ran one A-fixed race there for the loyalty program... 75 lap race (+GWC), of which "officially" 61 laps were ran under caution, and that doesn't count the lap that the caution came out on, and with 14 cautions, that's 75 total under yellow lol. I think we only got maybe two green flag laps total. I much prefer running tour modifieds around there. People have a little bit more sense in those it seems.

I think the iRacing Super Speedway should be part of the base content. I also think they should use it for hosting the fake rally cross tracks and they should put multiple road course layouts into the interior of the circuit. It's a huge circuit, so they could easily fit a lot of really interesting content in the interior of they wanted to. Since it's a fake circuit, it will always be less popular than the real tracks. They could also put Centripetal circuit inside it too.

my top 5 worst purchases: -Chevy Corvette C6/C7 DP (never use them/race in their series, if they use them anymore) -Indycar IR18 (I never race in the series except NASCAR superspeedways or week 13 unofficials) -UMP Modified (too much power for my dirt skill level) -Legacy Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (it was cheap, but it's legacy) -Radical SR8 (saw hosted sessions with it because it looked cool, but the SR10 came out before I could get to official races in the SR8)

I love the Porsche Cup, and its on the same tracks as the mission R, during the same weeks, so i only ever run the Porsche Cup, and not the mission R races. But i had a ton of fun in the week 13 Misson R Races, that i don't regret buying it.

My biggest buying regret is the NASCAR COT. I love the real life version of the car, and I thought it would transfer over to iRacing and be able to have fun with it. Nope. Not at all. First off, nobody runs the car. You'll occasionally find a hosted race with the COT at a plate track for fun since these cars don't have restrictor plates for some reason. Second, the car itself sucks. It just sucks. The car has like 4 official setups left and they're all garbage since they haven't been updated in 7-8 years. Its also like running on ice, you have no grip, the car is always loose-tight, and the car overall jist feels sluggish. If it got some love for once (which it won't, and I get that, the car's been a legacy car for nearly 10 years now) I feel like it'd be a very fun car to drive, but for now, it just sucks.

What you have correct is the hype. iRacing is total hype and, down right reaches into scamming members. iRacing value is in selecting a few series where you enjoy the car and tracks, and just purchase what is needed for those series. I spent a ton of money getting all of the Nascar tracks, only to have iRacing re-scan some, forcing you to buy the re-scanned tracks, and, even though you purchased all of the tin cans, iRacing wasted no time in dumping those and forcing you to buy the new current models. I think buying tracks are the way to go. Using the credits you earn from racing to buy the cars as you move up in licensing class.

I think the only purchase that I regret making on iRacing is the SRX car. I loved the series like many others and thought it would be fun to race them. Unfortunately, I purchased it after the series faded, so no one raced it. The car also races horribly sadly.

I have a suggestion, when you watch a youtube video you usually have the little red line at the bottom and you can see whether or not you have seen the video and with the red thumbnail border it’s impossible to see and makes it seem like I have already watched the video which could hurt viewership? Maybe it cause the opposite effect but its just something I noticed :)

I think my worst purchases ever were the Legacy 2010s NASCAR Cars and the Legacy Tracks because I wanted to race them in a league but it never materialized and so far the Super Formula is the worst but who knows when I master the car it might be a not-so bad purchase.

I went and bought all the dirt cars because that's what I got iracing for but if I knew I would only race like a few dirt cars I would of saved money along with some asphalt cars I thought looked cool but no one races

The way it should be set up is that you should only be allowed to buy cars that you have the license for. In other words, all "A" license content (cars & tracks) should be unavailable for purchase until you get the "A" license.

You did not buy these cars, you paid for getting access to a car in a sim, that needs to get rented. If you don't pay the monthly fee, you lose the access to these cars. In my opinion, that's a huge difference.

Iracing SS is #1 because they modeled lights but don’t support night races. Ir-01 was just too hard to drive I’ve taken a break the last 2 years so it might be a lot of fun the w12 is amazing

ahh Martinsville i have a love hate relationship with that track and short tracks in general. they are all supper fun but official races are limited by the pack your racing with but again that could be said about most content on the service. the issue with low skilled drivers technical tracks is that most people over drive when they feel slow witch makes it a shit show. if people were more aware it would be much better races but everyone wants to be ricky bobby. i for one would much rather lose fair and clean then race wreck for the win once in 1000 races. less is more thats the main take away and humble yourself on track

I really regret buying the BMW M4 GT4. Way too much understeer for my driving style. It’s like no matter what I do I can’t get her to rotate. Many times I tried to give it shot thinking that I was the problem and not the car but nope.

I agree fully on martinsville. I bought it last week and did one C Open race that had 25 cautions and i will never do it again. I would run arca or late models on it due to no cautions, but unless you're into driving in circles at 40mph simulators then it's a waste of time and money

That is why I don't like IRacing and monthly subscriptions. First off, I don't have the time to spend in IRacing to really get my moneys worth out of it. Then all the content you have to buy if I want to do a particular series racing events. Cars and tacks are always changing so I would end up with dead paid content that would never or seldom be used. Nop, IRacing subscriptions is not for me.

You can run Grand Prix Tour official races (100% distance) on Mercedes W12 even with D licence.
