I found DK customs when I had my first bike, a 2020 iron 883, and put a stage 1 on it from their stuff. A 587 air cleaner, catch can, and a set of vieds which take the place of an expensive tuner. The difference was immediately noticeable! Then a set of slip ons and WOW! That bike absolutely came to life! In all I spent less than 1k on my stage 1 and got such great results that I was shocked. Now I just traded in for my’21 FXLRS and you can believe that I won’t be using anyone but DK for my performance stuff. Not unless someone can give me a really good reason to spend more money and get less results? I am also looking at the DK 606 air cleaner as well as I’ve had really good luck with their products. Apart from the looks of the 606 any complaints? And any thoughts on whether the Trask would hit my shin with forward controls? I’m 5’10” for reference. And I can’t find dyno numbers on the Trask anywhere, any opinion on the “feel” in power difference between the two? Thanks for your videos!

I’ve posted updates on my bike about power. Stock vs stock, the dk is much better for performance. The stock trask filter is super thick and sucks. I currently put the trask back on with a k&n filter that’s a direct drop in replacement. If you’re not doing any motor work I’m pretty sure either air cleaner will be fine. Trask sticks out more. I think it would definitely hit your leg or knee at least. It hits mine a tiny amount with mids and I’m 5 08. Dk is a great product for a good price. Good guys there too

Trask is known for their turbos. I can imagine when you're forcing induction filtration is more important than free flow.

Yes, that’s true, but if you look at their turbo set ups they don’t use that filter and it’s just a solid metal piece instead of the filter element since air passes from the turbo and not the filter. I did a lot of researching and trial and error with some Amazon orders and I actually found the exact drop in filter replacement from K & N for the Trask filter element. @CAT3616G2 жыл бұрын
I don’t know for bike applications but it’s well known for automotive engines that K&N’s are junk if you’re actually concerned about keeping dust and debris out of your engine. Filters are supposed to filter so there’s gonna be a trade off in some performance.
@RidinDad2 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen nothing but the opposite of that. Where are you getting this information from?
@CAT3616G2 жыл бұрын
@@RidinDad just do some reading on forums and some searching on KZbin regarding K&N filters and engine damage, there’s a lot of info. A high flow air filter of the same size is always gonna be less more porous to allow more air but it will also allow more particles and debris. The only way to filter well and allow more air is to use a much bigger air filter due to more surface area. It makes sense when you think about it.

@@RidinDad I have discussed this with DK personnel... I have been building hotrods for decades. the rule of thumb in that industry is that you DO NOT use Teflon tape for fuel or oil lines. period. no questions asked. I have seen engines destroyed because a piece of that Teflon tape broke off the bolt and entered the oil passages starving the engine of oil. I have also seen engines destroyed from Teflon tape braking off and entering the fuel system causing a lean situation resulting in burned internals. an old mechanic in my earlier years told me that Teflon tape should only be used for water and natural gas when plumbing a house. it should NEVER be used to plumb a vehicle. another problem is that many people do not know which direction to wrap the tape. wrapping it in the wrong direction will cause it to bunch up. any hoot, thanks for the content. I always enjoy your perspective : - )
@RidinDad Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I completely understand. I’ve seen a bunch of people wrap it incorrectly and adjust unravels as they are trying to tighten their set up.
