DK Imports MR2 FRS Seat Swap

I just did this swap, using your brackets, after watching MCM and several years of looking for seats to replace my janky ass stock seats. This seemed like the perfect answer. I have a few points to make for people thinking about this... 1. Yes, having t-tops helps immensely. I had the t-tops in when I started and wasn't able to jigsaw the new seat in until I took the t-tops off... then it was easy. I may just be dumb. 2. When you install the new seats, definitely fully bolt down the brackets to the chassis as much as you're going to want to before you attach the seats. With the front seat bolts hanging down, you probably won't have enough room to get to the bracket-chassis bolts to tighten them. The seat->bracket bolts will be in the way. 3.The driver side seat sits a good 1/2 inch to inch higher than the stock mr2 seats. I'm not sure. I fit perfectly fine with the stock seats. I've had the car for 10 years before this and no problems. I'm ~5' 10" and I could touch my head to the ceiling if I stretched my torso up. I do keep the seat very vertical, so that's part of it. With the brz seats, I have to recline the seat a decent amount to not feel like my head is touching the roof. I have to slouch a little and push my butt forward and it works great. I'm actually thinking about trying the passenger seat from a RHD brz because my passenger seat seems lower enough that it would be great. 5.In the video, this 6' 3" bro is leaning his seat back pretty good. And his head is still almost up against the roof. I think if the sun visors were in the t-tops, he'd be touching. Add that to driving around with bumps... not a good time. Side note : MR2s don't have anything to trigger the side air bags in these seats. I'd love to see if someone has some way to get them out of the seats. I assume it's just unneeded weight. I appreciate the brackets you made, and as far as swaps go, it pretty damn easy, just want other people thinking about this to know all of the complications they might run into.

I just swapped out stock seats in my SW20 with a set of BRZ Series.Blue seats using your V.2 bracket. Worked like a dream! The seats definitely sit higher in front and my knees are closer to the steering wheel. It's not awful, but will take some getting used to. The FRS/BRZ are light-years ahead in comfort and support compared to stock SW20 seats.

I just ground off the rivets off of the brackets on my original seats and did the same on the brz seats and welded my original front brackets to the brz seats. much better solution with no compromise on the headroom.

Please look into making a bracket for the zzw30 Spyder. The previous owner swapped in frs seats with the frs bracket with one bolt location modified. But they seat too high up and I’m only 5’10”. Definitely a market in making brackets for frs seats

I felt my knees were too high with the extra bolster of the seats and the extra 1/2 inch or so that the seat are tilted upwards off the ridge in the floor... I'm 5'11 and felt the roof was too close to my head. I was so keen for this upgrade and after fitting only the passenger seat and trying it I felt it wasn't for me, the angle and height just didn't fell right.
