Hi Sarah, Have you ever tried to set the timing statically? You wind the motor by hand until your mark on the balancer lines up with the desired timing settings behind it.(ensuring you are on compression on number 1 cylinder) Once the marks are lined up remove your spark plug and lead from #1 cylinder and hold the side of the plug to earth on the engine with the lead still attached. Now twist the distributor until you see the spark jump. You will find this will nearly be spot on when rechecking with a timing light. Hope this helps. Cheers 😁!

Congratulations Sarah, I never had any doubt you would get Mr, Dos fixed, you are so clever and persistent. In a pinch electrical splicing tape works wonders on things that leak. The trick to using it is to pull/stretch the tape and it will form around irregularities such as the intake fittings and unlike regular electrical tape it will not come apart in the heat of the engine bay. No tool box should be without a roll of it. Get the 2 inch wide tape I think you will be surprised how well it works and how often you may find uses for it. Hi little Sara, welcome back. Congrats Sarah, this sounds like major progress. As an old guy, this takes me back to the late eighties, where I first saw a MR2 at Limerock park. It had the front end smashed in and was sitting on a single jack stand in the paddock area. MR2s do not take front end impacts very well, something to worry about now that yours is mobile.

On the other hand, they take rear impacts really well. I once had a Nissan run into the back of me. Completely destroyed the front of the Nissan, all crushed in, coolant all over the road. I had a small mark on the bumper of the MR2 and that was it. I didn't even have to repaint the bumper.

Great video, Sarah. Don't get rid of the old battery because I just sent you a high-quality battery charger, so you can get it back to full strength. I also sent a new timing light, so you can get Mr. Dos in proper time. It was delivered to your post office box on Wednesday (yesterday). You'll also see a new Power Probe tool in your post office box on Monday afternoon. You're gonna' need that to square away the electrical issues that remain in Mr. Dos. I've been a mechanic all my life, and have done well in the trade. Now, it's time for me to give back. So, as my favorite You Tuber, I'm giving back to you. Enjoy! Keep up the good work.

P.S. I just got a message from my UPS app, telling me that there was an "exception" at your post office and that "the receiver does not want the product and refused delivery." And that's already after they accepted delivery yesterday. It's a medium-sized box that weighs 20 lbs. I hope this doesn't turn into a mess? I wonder if the box is too big or too heavy for your P.O. Box? Something you need to check on, for sure.

Awesome, well done! Happy to see all your hard work paid off. Many years ago i used that type of timing light, one day it just stopped working, only used a handful of times. I ended up buying a older SnapOn timing light off ebay. I looked for the american made and lightly used, probably under $200. Quality tools you can use for a lifetime. I love your attitude and perservance. Working on cars is not easy, I have much respect for you.

In the future, if you need an emergency coupling until some new parts can come in the mail. Go to Lowe's, to the plumbing section. I learned this from Haggard garage. And had to do it once and it was actually a pretty damn high quality rubber coupling. Of course I changed it out because I can't have plumbing parts on my European masterpiece. But its a temporary solution.

Clamp meter is always the best to go ... A battery negative remove can sometimes lead to that the current drain is gone .. and to get the issue back will take you a lot of your time.

Thats what makes life worth living to me. Setting goals and getting there. Too much of it is just walking numbly from home to the car to the time clock back to the car then home... wash, rinse, repeat. Congrats Sarah
