It's because evry manager is a pokemon. He is what he is now until he finally wins the prem or champions league then he will evolve into an actual 'world class' manager. 5 points and then 2 points is the difference between h being considered alright or world class. Like tuchel at chelsea when he won the championsleague by playing snatch and grab football suddenly evolved into a world class manager but everything he has done before or after begs to differ. All teta needs is the evolution.

As you have suggested before that he might roam into the space, finding his own to provide this for others, this is somewhat the reminiscent of classic Mezzala role but modernized. "A mezzala is a wide central-midfield player in a trio or diamond, playing outside and ahead of a single, deeper midfielder." However, when a mezalla has a more reserved role compared to box-to-box, whereas it has rather responsibility towards creativity than the simple 2nd phase to 3rd place. It literally means "half-winger" which defines them as a bit more of a side midfielder but still is a central midfielder on their own. However, Rice, especially when playing at the final third, transforms into a roaming midfielder, aiding Odergaard with more options to pass. In other words, Arteta has modernized this mezalla role.

I dont see us use that "thìrd man option often" which makes us stagnant ànd easy to defend against most times. And little chances are created from the middle as we are too reliant on the wing and when they double up against the winger, they often decimate our chance creation abilities.
