Most underrated console of all time. It had it's flaws, of course, but it was still impressive for the time. Seems obscure, but it was able to go online, which was a massive deal at that time. The controllers were one of a kind and innovative. You'd never think it was one of the products to tank the company. It was solid competition. Too expensive and too small of a library was what sealed the coffin.
@STAXONDECK1 Жыл бұрын
Sega was deep in the red before the system launched, it was of no fault of the system as it was the best Sega ever made and it’s library was huge quilalitt title in one and half year of full support got more games than the Wii U

@@STAXONDECK1The choice to sell the console at a loss definitely contributed to Sega's problem. The Console's early success became the deathblow for a troubled company. I am sure Sega's gamble would have paid off if that had deeper pockets but they didn't.

It didnt come with a VMU either. I recall standing in Babbages with my dad, after having saved up money for over a year from allowances and chores to buy the console. Dad said he'd buy me a game, and I picked Sonic Adventure. Then the guy behind the counter said "You are going to need a memory card." Damn things were almost as expensive as a game! The Dreamcast was competing with the PS1. (And blows it out of the water) While the PS2 was being worked on, it wouldn't be released until the Dreamcast was already dead. You can't compete with a product that doesn't exist/hadn't been released. The Dreamcast was a gem. And Sega of Japan killed their console game. Still wanting to focus on replicating the "Arcade Experience" that, while still relevant in Japan, had died out in North America. (Likely why the Neo Geo lasted so long in Japan) As well as being jealous over their US departments success.
