I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. kzbin.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

A Z bracket made from 2pieces of 1”x1” L channel ( weld or bolt together) find a discarded mud flap ( they are all over truck stops, and you are cleaning up for them ) Bolt it to the deck. Cut your mud flap so it hangs down about 1 1/2 inches lower than the deck. I made mine for less than $20.00 and used it for 8/9 years .

Omg! I made this and it works PERFECT great idea it stripes so good I absolutely love it and my lawn looks so great
@TheMacdr20025 жыл бұрын
Very well done! The only thing i could offer would be to go with two 3/8" bolts stacked vertically vs one bolt. It would reduce the stress on a single bolt and the associated mounting holes. Thanks for the advice, most appreciated.

Great job, very well done. Now mow your lawn at 3.5 inches and it will stripe fantastic. I have a Simplicity 50 inch deck and I mow with my deck all the way up at 3.75 inches and my 2 acres looks the best it ever has.
@bigal7561 Жыл бұрын
It would be easier, and work better, to put the stripping attachment behind the rear wheels so as to not have the wheel line. You may have brushed them a bit. I think using the same angled aluminum (you can get at Home D) and making a severe tri angle to the rear tow hole. Add weight it as needed and a simple rope to pull up when needed. Easy on and off. I think I'll try that. Great idea. Thanks. I'm going to try it on my new Toro 42 inch zero turn. No drilling in the deck as mine is forged steel but a pull behind with very little clearance would do well and no issue in reversing as I'd make it where I can lift it. I think I'd just mow the grass the grass without then just attach the brush pull and run my tracks.
@maltedbarley16 жыл бұрын
And you can sweep the garage floor too;-) but I'm sure it will stripe really well
@oscarfarley4104 Жыл бұрын
looks good, maybe instead of a hole you could have cut slots so it would have a height adjustment?
@jeffs.2431 Жыл бұрын
Really like this setup and will probably do mine very similar. The only mod I’m thinking about is to weld a mounting bracket to the back of the mower deck to bolt through rather than drill a hole through the deck itself. Great design though!

This is fantastic. I have a Honda HRX217HZA walk behind mower with a Checkmate striping kit installed. It works really well, but I've been wanting to add a brush to make the stripes stand out as best they can. Was unsure how to go about mounting a brush until this vid. Great job. Thanks.

Really good job there; love the way you did this. My only suggestion would be to put a nut on the bolt and tighten it (might have to put a spacer on first if the threads don't extend the full length of the bolt) before you attach the angle to the deck; this would make it much easier to attach and remove the angle as needed, without the bolt getting pushed back through the deck. Also, you really need to check to be sure that the bolt head doesn't interfere with the mower blade; that would be ugly :).

I bet you could push snow with that fixture too! Maybe just make slotted holes on the face of the aluminum angle and make it to be allowed to drop down another 1/2-1 inch lower. Awesome mod!

Looks great. Although you were so close to the anti scalp brackets. You could have mounted to them and saved a rusting deck. And adjustment wouldn't have to be through the inside of the deck

Very cool! Hoping for a follow up, I am curious how it will treat the turf (too rough?), if it gets too nasty collecting grass clippings in between bristles, and if it interferes with the drive tires with the deck in transport mode. Great idea!

Still working great, only issue is some stick up grass when mowing centipede.
@ashzole3 жыл бұрын
that’s a lot of work. i took the cheesy route to make strips. i just use my drop spreader , use either ironite or milargomite , walk a straight line or diagonal, when i come back the other way, i don’t drop any of the urinate on the grass, but on my way back down i drop stuff, so every other pass i drop ironite. my strips last like 30 days like i said i took the cheesy method
@HandyGuy20163 жыл бұрын

I would think this should wear well overtime and pass marterials through it but put enough pressure on the grass to brush it for stipes. Seems like a genious idea. Makes me wonder why anybody would rollers are a trailing mat vs this set up. I have a 52" gravely ZX deck that has a completely flat rear profile with bolt holes already there. This i should be super easy for me to replicate. Thx!!!

Been thinking about doing this with my Kubota. The roller kits work but tend to mess with mulch beds when you spin around and forget it’s there. They also like to grab sidewalks. You can get 24” brooms with PVC bristles for only about $8 each at harbor freight

I just made this yesterday and put it on my Cub Cadet RZT L 54 and it worked amazingly. The only problem I encountered was when I made a turn it would tend to dig up some grass but after some trial and error I think I have the turn down so it doesn't do that anymore. I wish I knew how to post a picture on here so everyone could see how well it worked.

Curious as to why you need to have the brush that close to the ground. Wouldn't a half inch lower than the blade cut do the same thing? Just curious, not in the business so I am trying to learn. I do like a striped look though!

@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
Why not? Most factory stripe kits mount to the back of the deck.
@A_shreddingDad2 жыл бұрын
Because now it adjusts with your deck. You shoulda put adjustable brackets on there. So you can set your deck and adjust your sweep
@kevina46745 жыл бұрын
It would work a lot better and have more detailed stripes with longer grass.... your cutting at 2 inches there is no blade left to fold over. So basically just brushing the grass, leaves, and sticks around. Raise the deck up to about 3 1/2 - 4 and stand with your back to the sun and tell me how good it works then!
