holy crap man the machinery you have pays for itself 10 times over it'd take 10 men to keep up with that machine that is crazy I thrown hay before but it was usually just from the wagon and into the barn or from the barn and into the truck to deliver it I'm impressed by the machines

You are the man, when I haul hay home I just have to make sure the approach is wide enough to fit my semi with the bales being 11' wide and make sure if the road is narrow that I can drive the front wheels in the ditch before I back up to make my turn. I don't have to worry about steep hills , mostly that no dip sh*t drives into the back of me when I'm turning off one road onto another, because we have dusty gravel roads. With that big load of hay are you over weight?
@AndersonCattleCo7 жыл бұрын
We have an old NH 70 bale wagon and we haven't used it in 20 years but if I remember right 1300bales in a day was still a heck of a big day, because you always had to hand stack one oops lol

+AndersonCattleCo. I guess there are problems every where you work, there just different ones, yes I'm 3000 pounds over weight with this load. Thats a 7 ton trailer grossing 17000 pounds.

I was just looking into the accumulator system. I'm a one man show for the most part and handling bales off a thrower wagon.
@DLHFarms7 жыл бұрын
+PA Farms. The advantage of the kicker system is you have your hay on wheels immediately so if it rains you can pull it to the barn. If your a one man show like me with the accumulator once you have your hay baled you will have to get your packs up and stack them on wagons with a tractor, but once you get to the barn you can unload with the tractor and if you sell it you can reload it again on a customer's trailer. If you have someone that can bale for you, you can load it as fast as it comes off the accumulator you don't have to worry about bales getting broken by the kicker or the bales getting deformed from throwing them.
@PAFarms7 жыл бұрын
DLH Farms that's a good thought that the hay is on wheels right away. The accumulator I looked at was different. This one was flat like a table, it didn't go up, it went flat out. I don't know, used it was $9k, and for $9k I can buy about 6 used wagons
@DLHFarms7 жыл бұрын
+PA Farms. Its hard to say what you where looking at there are several companies that make accumulators. If you have people to help unload and don't mind paying them you should probably stay with the way your doing it, but in my case I like being able to to it all myself when everyone else is busy.
@arthurdewith76084 жыл бұрын
i don't like the thrower pulling all the dang bales apart in the wagon then walking around the hay mow carryin bales to place

You need to make a trailer hitch to connect to your 3 point hitch on the back of the tractor. Then you could easily move your trailer around the field with you. Just back up to the trailer and raise the 3 point hitch up to connect to the goose neck and drive off. You don't even have to get off the tractor.

I'm already ahead of you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4aydJKmarGngLs

I would just weld a ball to My quik tach for moving the trailer, cheap and easy.
@BoundlessVision-d25 жыл бұрын
I was thinking. Rather than going back and forth with each square load, maybe it would work to group the squares near each other in the field. Then move the trailer closer to the group to load with a shorter distance. May give you a little more time before the downpour?
@DLHFarms5 жыл бұрын
Thats what i do on big fields but not a small one like this.
@BoundlessVision-d25 жыл бұрын
@@DLHFarms Thanks for the update. That makes sense. As a city-slicker that was a mighty big field. On another subject about that PTO noise, I was wondering if that was caused by an increase in fluid pressure followed by a sudden velocity decrease usually caused by a valve closing. Somewhat similar to a water hammer shock wave. May want to look into installing a slow-closing valve or pressure relief valve in the line. I couldn't tell by looking at the video the length of the pipe and elasticity composition of the material. I guess if them New Holland boys said it is what it is then it is what it is.
@j.b.caldwell74207 жыл бұрын
You ever consider taking cubes for the top layer and making the key bales in the center while the cubes are on the ground ? That lets me run two straps lengthwise and there are no key bales on the edges to bind down
@DLHFarms7 жыл бұрын
+J.B. Caldwell. I haven't thought about doing that. I guess it's because I haven't had trouble with loosing the key/tie bales. I put two straps on in this field because it's so steep most of the time I don't use straps until I sell it then I strap it down really good cause it rides for three hours.
@1harrymac7 жыл бұрын
I have an accumulator that pulls behind the baler. I can not leave my packs in the field over night as they collect to much moisture on the bottoms. Do you have that problem? I live in the northern part of South Carolina. Really enjoy your videos and seeing your farm.
@DLHFarms7 жыл бұрын
+harry mcmillan. They do get moisture on the bottom but it never been a problem as long as the top of the pack you set it on is good and dry. I've not had any mold issues doing it this way. If I can get them out of the field the same day I will but when I get done baling at 7pm and I have 1300 bales in the field I don't have much choice but to leave them. I will stack them that night until the dew get to heavy on them.

2 questions: do you have a blower/dryer that blow air trough the hay in the barn or does it get dry enough in the field? What do you do if bales in the field get rained on?
@DLHFarms7 жыл бұрын
+Johan Jakobsson. You have to get it dry enough in the field, it won't really dry anymore once it's baled up tight. I've had the bales get rained on before, about the only thing you can do is continue getting the bales out of the rain, if the rain stops and the sun comes back out within a day of the bales getting wet, and it normally does, wait for the ground to dry some then unload the bales placing them in direct sunlight, then I normally by hand move the bales so they have space all around them once the top dry's then flip them all over, most of the time the hay won't be damaged. Typically on a tight bale of hay the rain will only penitrate about an inch into the bale unless they set out in the rain a very long time. If the hay can't be dried within a day, it will most likely mold and then the price will have to be reduced and it would be sold as cow hay. The mold will normally just be on the outside of the bale and will be perfectly fine on the inside.
