Now I hike on the Sussex Branch trail. Thank you for taking the movie and sharing it on KZbin.

Too bad Sussex County couldn;t foresee the need for that branch line today. What was once country and diaries is now suburbia but without the highway. NJ 15 is so crowded now. I know people in Newton miss having the train.

I've been recovering the site. I'm doing it on my own, knowing that it may end up just a thing on my own hard drive. I've completely written new code for modern web presentation. I have both books but I feel the archive portion (at least) should be restored. The newspaper articles are important. I've actually been spending the time to type out articles from the New York Times and The Iron Era (from Dover) to add to the archive. I got a great one from the NYT covering exactly when Continental Drive was opened to the public. I've also got mentions of some Sussex engineers McPeek and George Ply, who apparently resigned after a collision on the Sussex in 1905.

If you mean the newspaper clippings archive, it is still there at: sussexbrancharchives.tripod.com

@@NJEsperantist Thank you, I've found that. It's been a labor of love for the site which I lost track of around 2004. All I could remember was 1) a photo or a mention of the RXR sign that used to be on Mudcut, and 2) the words "bones" and "battery boxes". I've recovered the memories section of Guy Puffer, Peter Pearson, and Harold N. Coriell.

I still have the DLW-SussexBranch website on my hard drive. It may not be 100% up to date to when I took it down, but then, I hadn't updated it much, if at all while I researched my book. If you want something in particular from the site, I could get the text of it to you, directly or indirectly.

So the Erie and and DLW merged in 1960 . . . a desperate attempt by two way-past-their time rail carriers that were sieving money to stay relevant. Branch lines like these with very little traffic (note the truck traffic in the video) were one of the reasons.
