I want to do this, but I believe you have to have a LOT of integrity to DM yourself without cheating. I DM myself in Divinity Original Sin 2 and I often cheat when I find myself in a bind.

Is it cheating if you are having fun? Yes it is hard to DM yourself and the element of surprise is gone for the most part. I sometimes re-roll a bad result if it causes something so negative it ends my character. Those moments give me time to really reflect on how I got into those positions and I can try to avoid them in the future.

Huge kudos for the perfect binding! That’s next level. I’ve been thinking of printing out some of my game books, but I was just planning to bring them to a print shop and have them do the binding.

Thank you it was a lot of fun binding the book. Binding books for me is more than the end result of the book. It provides me time to disconnect and just create something enjoyable. It is like painting a landscape or a miniature model, it is an art form that allows me to relax and just enjoy the moment. It is also very helpful to know how books are made so you can better take care of them. I would suggest trying it with a small rule book and just see if you enjoy the process.

I printed and bound my own copy as well, but I just formatted it as a booklet, folded it over, and stapled it. It was much easier that way. At about 60 pages, it is near the end of where I would want to do that though. 64 pages printed front and back with two pages per sheet comes down to about 16 pages total, which my stapler can handle no problem. I want to print the DM Yourselves booklet next, but I think I am going to stitch bind that. I have been doing binding books for the last few months, and my favorite is by far my copy of Basic Fantasy RPG that I case bound. I have found some easy ways to do soft covers as well, and I have produced a number of the Tiny Dungeon books as well using that method. Your copy looks good though. I have found cutting the edges to be probably the most difficult part to get right.

Cutting the edges is very stressful when binding books. Many people might not notice if the cut is straight but you will always know. Part of the joy for me is seeking that perfection but being happy with what you have created. I want to create more folded booklet projects I just need to get a stapler that has a longer reach. My desk stapler is good but just can't reach the center of the pages. Might put that on the list of things to do next with book binding. Thanks for the comment

With DM Yourself aside an awesome game system I love called D100 Dungeon by Martin Knight. I hope to see many more KZbin playthroughs of D100 Dungeon.

I just picked up D100 Space and can't wait to give it a try. I still need to get the books for D100 Dungeon and give that game a try. Just too many great games out and not enough time to play them all.

Very useful info as usual! I agree on the focus part. It is overwhelming to rolll on everything about a location. Sometimes it is the first sight and immediate reaction that is important (Like in real life!). I think it will work very well with 2x2 system. For time tracking, I personally like action point system that works both as a clock as well as a resource that player need to manage! It challenges the soloist to make difficult choices and push their luck too. i.e. If I have 2 AP left, should I spend the time doing X or Y?

Thanks Mel for the feedback and suggestion. Are you using a published system for AP or is this something you created? I would like to learn more about how you use AP. I feel the clock method is similar to action points you just get 12 of them per hour. I am really open to learning different systems to find what works best for me. I was just attracted to this because tracking time has always been an issue for me and this was based on a clock system that I could easily relate to. Have a great day.

@@solitaryrpg I mainly learned from board games :) I just published a standalone board gamification of Fallen RPG that plays around an AP system (you can find the video in my channel). It works as both a clock (roughly 2 hours per AP) and a resource pool that player can use to do different actions (with different cost depending on the day shift). It automatically add theme / narrative without the need of oracle and in general makes travelling, doing things more exciting especially if you include a Villain Phase after the X amount of AP spent :)

@@MelvLee You published that on Itch if I am not mistaken. I will go pick it up and check it out. Your Fallen video is great and I have the PDF of those rules. I need to get them printed.
