QS138 70h v3 & VOTOL EM 200 Controller Wiring and Hook up E-bike

I ordered a QS138 70h v3 & Votol EM 200 2 Controller and there wasn't a lot of good wiring videos or info so. I thought I would throw this one together quick. I plan on making some more videos about this set up and some more in depth info.

To turn it on you connect power the the purple/white wire! Not just purple like I saw in the video.

@@Corn-ped Got the controller (VOTOL EM-200) from QS. Not sure about the battery. There is not a lot of space inside the frame so I am thinking of creating some panniers to carry the battery either side of the rear wheel.

Yeah! I had mine set to start in mode 3 but it was actually in mode 1. I just set up my switch and wow 3 is crazy!

I ordered a 40ah Lith-Ion battery with 200A Bluetooth BMS on AliExpress i hope that will work. (I‘m going to build a Supermoto Pitbike so i don’t need a large running time. I can charge after every turn)

I do not. I ended up buying a battery from Amorge power. They built a 72v 300a battery for me.

video was really helpful although I'm using a qs138 90h v3 so I'm not 100% sure what the difference is, I'm currently using a 72v 42ah ebmx battery the final piece of the puzzle is what motor controller to use, been thinking about using a votol or the noisy cricket from electro and co

That controller looks really good. I like the Votol controller but it took a while to learn and figure out how to get what I wanted. It was a lot of trial and error, which I enjoyed since it was my first time doing this. But I might choose one with better interface next time.

Hey man love the video but im having some issues with my setup and was hoping you could help. Qs138v3 and em260sp, i got the speed controller to turn on but cant get it to connect to the software so my first question is should it be able to work straight out of the box or do i need to configure something in the software to get the unit to start, also i have a surron throttle and cant get movement from the motor so i was wondering if you have insight on if that could be an issue. I appreciate and insight

Mine worked out of the box but it needed some adjustments to make it smooth and ridable. But it worked for testing. Getting it to connect was a challenge at first. I had the com port set wrong and it took a little while to figure out how to change it. I believe the Surron throttle is the same style 3 wire that I am using and should not be the issue. but you could double check the ohm against a known working one for that system.

@@Corn-ped I ordered a new throttle just to be sure as I can get the motor to turn withe the hall sensor calibration function so I figured the speed controller and motor are talking just not receiving throttle input

Ahhh. Yeah those are so nice. Those are alligator test leads from Amazon! amzn.to/45b3WmI I used those to connect the battery plus to the purple/white wire to turn it on.

Great video mate. Question - Is the hall sensor for the QS motor in the same wiring harness or is it a second one connected to the motor controller. Nothing that came with the kit actually connects to the hall sensor 🤷‍♂️

@@Corn-ped Ye looks like i got different colors.. Its the latest EM200 2SP:: I cant seem to find a way to power it on.. Instructions are incorrect everywhere. Colors dont match

The controller looks the same as urs, cable wise - i measure 5v at the throttle line so perhaps its on p brake? idk

Hi CornPed, quick question.... having connected the battery + to the yellow wire from the throttle, what colour throttle wire do I connect to which then links up with the purple wire from the control unit? I'm currently getting a red indicator light that flashes on the Votol 200/2 controller ....... any insight you can give, gratefully received....... regards, Andy C.

Its really hard to see what color the two wires from the key switch are. I can look tonight. The throttle has 3 wires and the switch has 2. It doesnt matter how you connect the two switch wires. they just have to go to the battery + and the purple/white wire.

I am going thru some website changes so The link changed. check it out here. corn-ped.blogspot.com/ There is a wrong label in it. there is a connector that says throttle that is brown and black and says brown/white. That is just wrong and doesnt need anything hooked up to it.

@@Corn-ped did you get that as a kit from ali? Siaecosys has all the wiring diagrams and manuals to download on their website. The dkd display manual and wiring diagram was super helpful figuring out mine.

you would need a controller that has reverse. I do not think the Votol 200 has reverse

Great tutorial for me, controller should be here soon. In seller web store it says shows purple is high brake so it means probably it will brake motor once no power to purple. I was wondering wether anybody tried to hook up controller to a scooter dashboard and if they can communicate! Probably not but as i have almost entire piaggio mp3 ie300 scooter it would be nice if that will work eventually

It doesn't display everything I want.. The main thing it does have I want is rpm. Everything else I will get from my Bluetooth battery appm

3000 watts it most get realy hot at 25,000 watts the rating need to be alot higher i got a hub motor on my mtb bike which is 2000 watts and i have a 90 amp controller at 72v which peck at 6500 watts that get hot and cut out at 90 degree for safty

Never seen a more buggier programming tool and crappier controller than the VOTOL EM200. Do not waste your time, get something else. Absolut garbage. Tried everything for 3 days, I got the motor to spin, but when accelerating RPM goes up and down on its own even if I hold the throttle steady. it's the same in remote mode from their crappy programing tool.

yes. but I have not had a chance to reprogram it yet. That might be whats makes it a good/bad controller. online it seems like some people have issues getting it to connect to a computer to program.
