+ПьеRO's Reviews You win if you manage to answer this tiny little question. Where does the Devil May Cry title fits on this game? Because every single game, minus DCM2 because i don't remember that black sheep very well, had implemented the "Devil May Cry" on it's story. DMC1: Dante cheesy "Fill your dark soul with light" when Trish saved him, showing that despite Dante being half demon, he still had humanity to care for what happened to Trish; DMC3: Dante fights his brother in the boundary of both Demon and Human worlds, wins, but lose his last family member alive, them Dante gets out of the tower, and Lady asks if Dante was crying, Dante replies with "Devils never cry", and Lady gives us the line "Maybe somewhere, out there a devil may cry when he lost a loved one", showing that Dante cared for his brother, even if he had to strike him down in order to avert pretty much world destruction; DMC4: Nero get angry and/or sad whenever Kyrie, his love interest, was at his reach and fails to save her, or when they use her as a meat shield to stop Nero from foil their plans. Dante get that moment where instead of calling Nero as a kid, he shouts Nero's name to make him wake up inside the Savior statue. All the godanm time i played DmC: Redundancy, i was watching either a ripoff of They Live, or just a massive amount of plot holes that made me cringe, like in the moment where Donte could've saved Kat from the SWAT raid, but did jack shit because the writters wanted a Dansel in Distress moment in their game to make it "Shakesperean". I didn't saw anything of what Devil May Cry had told me, i've only saw two idiots with super powers meddling in things that they didn't even had to be in it. You can say that it was for vengeace because Mundus killed their parents, but Donte DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBERED WHAT HAPPENED! Mundus would've be chilling in his office, enjoying ruling the world if he didn't have chased Donte for no fucking reason other than to start this godanm game, Virgil would still be acting like Anonymous Leader bullshit and Donte would've be doing all the shit he had being doing before this. Virgil didn't even needed Donte for his plan, since he can go toe to toe with his borther, them why call him and not set him in his "Fuck Mundus and Take over his place" plan? Just to set this shitty reveal that Virgil was going to be a villain that ANYONE COULD'VE SAW A MILE AWAY! Bottom line, this game deserves a 6/10 in terms of being a standalone game, and a 2/10 for being a game with the holy Devil May Cry name.
@aleck5andrs4439 жыл бұрын
Zero The Bloodedge "Holy Devil May Cry name" Obvious fanboy is obvious, and this whole worshipping of original dmc, clouded your mind, preventing to judge and to think towards DmC clearly and logically. Now on, In first dmc, Dante experienced character development only when Trish sacrificed herself for him, which was only at the end of the whole game. Same goes for the dmc 3, Dante didnt suffer some things that may have affected his mind in the way like: "maybe I misjudged something, maybe I need to look on some things with different perspective." That never happend. All that original Dante did is that he just showed different sides of his character that never changed during the game like being cool and being serious and caring person when the plot needed him to be. Now the new Dante experienced his character development all through the game, and other characters actually affected him to make him change, like Kat who is a 100% human and not a cool devil-killer walking fanservice with a giant bouncy boobs (Im not against giant boobs, but I just cant stand the fact when girls with such boobs are jumping around like fucking rabits without hurting themselves in a process, OH and using guns big enough that can rip their hands off with just a simple recoil.) She is a conduit for Dante to understand humans and that they can be something more than just a bunch of brainless flesh and blood that brainwashed and enslaved by the media and the government. That is all what Dante could see in humans before meeting with Kat. During the game, she spoke to him forcing him to think about her as a human different from others, she sacrificed herself for him, gone through all the torture for him and Vergil, not even knowing that they would save her. There is a lot of scenes where Dante is admiting and actually caring about what she did and what she've been through for him. He learned from her experience that humans can be self-sacrificing, devoted, so he started to care about humanity. And other character: Phineas, the old demon that Dante saved. He said a thing to him that can be said instead of all this text to you: "You can see evil in me because I am a demon. Try opening your mind. It's all a matter of perspective." That what Dante did, towards humans and everything else. Learned things, changed his mind, something that original Dante never did. "You can say that it was for vengeace because Mundus killed their parents, but Donte DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBERED WHAT HAPPENED! Mundus would've be chilling in his office, enjoying ruling the world if he didn't have chased Donte for no fucking reason other than to start this godanm game, Virgil would still be acting like Anonymous Leader bullshit and Donte would've be doing all the shit he had being doing before this." - Are you really that stupid? Both Dante And Virgil was locked away from their memories to protect them, Mundus didn't knew it, so it is logically for him to destroy the spawn of his greatest foe, before it can grow into a real danger. And Vergil actually got his memmory back, Dante could get his memmory back too, dont you think? "Virgil didn't even needed Donte for his plan, since he can go toe to toe with his borther" - Vergil wouldn't be able to even walk into the Munduses tower, since he needed a distraction big enough (like Dante), not only to enter the tower, and override all the security system, to actually get into a Munduses office, but also to force Mundus to actually leave the place that is charging him with the unlimited power, to shut the hellgate. AND THEN. He needed Dante to fight with the most powerfull demon on the Earth. And yeah, Dante is stronger than Vergil, because he earned his Devil trigger, and Virgil didn't had one. "them why call him and not set him in his "Fuck Mundus and Take over his place" plan? Just to set this shitty reveal that Virgil was going to be a villain that ANYONE COULD'VE SAW A MILE AWAY!" You are so stupid. Vergil wasn't a villain in the main story, he became one in the "Vergils Downfall DLC". At the end when he told Dante about his plan to rule all the humanity, he revealed that he was thinking about humans exactly the same way, that Dante was thinking about them before meeting up with Kat, but in a little bit different way. "Humans are frail, they are like children. They need protection." He kinda had a point, but deep inside he was blinded by the power and Dante knew it. He expected Dante to understand his plan, but he didn't expected that Dante will walk through a character development, and change from a complete dick that he was in the beginning to an actual hero, that he became at the end. Hell his hair color even changed to white. Ninja Theory didn't want to bitch slap DMC fans, they just expected them to be much more smarter. What a shame. Any other questions? Or you accept the fact that I logicly answered all that stupid bullshit that you wrote above?

Honestly, I think this fight was way more tragic than the ones in the classic games. While Classic Dante and Vergil's rivalry was epic, we were essentially just supposed to take their word for it that they used to be a happy and loving family with Eva at one point. Here, we see the two of them genuinely begin to grow and bond with each other over the course the game. Right before this fight, they honestly saw each other as brothers, and we got to see their bond grow over the course of the game, which makes this fight and what happens in Vergil's Downfall all the more sad and tragic.

+Julio Andrés Torres Corazón in DMC 3 we understand why Dante and Vergil face each other, one be a complete demon, virgil thinks humans are weak and despictable, Dante at the begining isn't sure about what he wants, he goes to temeningru, not because he want to save humanity, he goes because Virgil is there, he must face him. First battle virgil is far superior than Dante, he tooks the las gift from dante's mother..... later dante meets lady, with this meeting Dante Begins to understand why his father choose the human above his own kind; humans are weak and despictable like Arkam, but they are Strong and Kind like lady..... finally Dante and Vergil Fight one last time, here Dante already took a Decision, he is a demon and a human, and like his father before him, he chooses humanity. at this point it means that he needs to fight, for the first time we see Dante fights Vergil in a serious way, he loves his brother but his brother is wrong and needs to be stopped... He won, but at the same time he lost his brother, his last family alive. He drops a tear for him, lady watch it and realizes the same as dante did before, Demons are evil creatures, but they are kind and noble too. later in DMC 1, we saw when dante Kills Nelo Angelo, at this point he just remember for a moment when vergil and him where kids, and they were a happy family
@sulthanarya32814 жыл бұрын
Vergil did this in the first place. I mean you guys should replay the game and see why Dante disagree with him. Vergil agreed fight for humans along with Dante, it means they just fight Mundus to freed humans from his rules, but suddenly Vergil wants to rules and started called human as 'subject' in last mission. Dante literally agreed fight for humans and killed Mundus but NOT to take his throne, if they do that it means they no different than Mundus here. While playing this game and see this scene i was like "wtf did you do? It is your plan to fight for humans along with your brother? Then why suddenly want to rule and take his throne?" The story were fine until this mission.

I’m sure you’d be saying the same stuff if u got slugged 20 feet across a room by a 17 foot tall demon. And Nero’s cursing makes sense considering he’s only like 22-23 and still has some of his adolescent attitude and sass.

@bootiemonhd4585 жыл бұрын
Soap yeah, I think it begins to suit though. Cuz DMC3 Dante is like 19, DMC1 Dante is like 27-28, DMC2 Dante is like 31-32, DMC 4 Dante is like 37-38. And since DMC5 is roughly 5 years after DMC4 that means Dante is like 40-43. At this point it’s pretty clear he isn’t as serious about his job as he used to be, now he’s kinda care free and pretty much doing it cus he needs the money. Which is shown by how he actually sells most of his devil arms after his missions if he thinks he doesn’t need it. It’s evident by the way he acts in DMC4 how he acts more like Dmc 3 Dante despite that being the youngest version. I think in DMC5 he’s kinda just tired of all the bullshit he’s dealt with throughout his life. Like he was acting like the mission V gave him was almost a drag and at the end of the game goes to destroy the Qliphoth root with Vergil despite knowing that Vergil could probably do it alone. Dmc5 Dante is tired and has no real goals anymore. Just living for the sake of living. It’s kinda sad honestly because while he’s still the Dante we know and love, he’s a shell of what he once was. That’s why pretty much anytime he runs into any kind of boss including Vergil, he’s just like “Aw shit, her we go again.” That’s just IMO though so I can understand ur opinion.

I really enjoyed this game and it's interpretation of DMC's themes and ideas. There is one single thing that kind of bugs me. People constantly said that Dante's style was "Emo" even though it's more inspired by classic punk (more specifically the 1970s punk movement with the Sex Pistols, Sid Vicious and all that jazz, hence the patch on his sleeve), which makes sense since punk is all about fighting against the establishment. Rebelling against and rejecting society. Considering that the game world itself goes out of it's way to work against Dante's progress it seems to fit the setting they crafted. But I'm tired and sick and won't remember typing this so if it doesn't make much sense.... Yeah. That being said, I really liked DMC and I really am liking Devil May Cry 5.

True enough. Heck, it could have been even a more enjoyable ending. Have the two have a brother to brother moment and see who's the stronger. I know my descrip sucks, but still. I think it's main mistake was being called Devil May Cry. These are aight characters sure, but they're not OUR Dante and Vergil. I love the tension in this scene. The graphics and character expressions have NOT aged well, not even compared to the earlier anime-style DMC games, but this fight is the best part of the game because of how much gets across without the cast having to talk about it. Their anger has come to a breaking point, but you can see the hesitation as they slowly draw their weapons, contemplating whether they are *really* about to do this. As you beat up Vergil, he gets gradually more aggressive. Every time a cutscene interrupts the combat, it's silently showing the relationship between the brothers becoming more damaged... until Vergil goes full power, and Dante straight up stabs a sword through his heart. Then, the reminder of Dante's humanity - Kat - walks up to his devil trigger self and begs him to stop killing his brother. He realises what's happening, makes a decision about himself, and helps his brother... reflecting the times he would help Vergil up after a playfight as kids. When they were close. Vergil leaves. He's taken aback by the gesture, but is filled with anger and conflicted feelings. He makes a spiteful remark to Dante and buggers off. Of course, the dialogue before and after this scene is atrocious, but Ninja Theory are.... not good with dialogue, whatsoever, which is probably why their most famous games are light on it. You can tell Itsuno LOVED this fight. This game borrows and expands concepts from earlier DMCs, like giving the Yamato a Doppelganger power (a logical conclusion after Nero). It also has Vergil using it as a portal. While it was used to OPEN portals many times before, I don't think it was so blatantly used to walk from Point A to Point B. Both of these were then put into DMC5, as well as expansion on Vergil's childhood relationship with Dante, and making him more of a nerd (a full on GOTH). There are parts that this game borrowed from Bayonetta, too, which then were put into DMC5. The enemies all had title cards. The gameplay was fairly linear, thank god. DMC5 didn't have the insane levels of Bayo or DmC, but it learnt to be more dynamic. Maybe the game had more budget put into it as well.

I don't care what you guys say. This battle was epic when I fought it, and the cinematic preceding it is something I can't stop watching. The way these two characters change over the course of the game is too interesting. At the start, Vergil looks like the heroic one compared to Dante's self-centered attitude. By the end, the dynamics are reversed. And even better is that unlike in DMC3--which I willingly admit is still the best game in the series--Vergil's desire for power doesn't come across as strictly evil. He believes the best way for the world to be safe is under his rule. He's a believer in noble monarchy compared to Dante's belief in free will. Vergil even tells Dante not to be sorry for battling him. That's honestly why I don't get it when people say these characters are two-dimensional or uninteresting. Someone said that Vergil is just a douche bag in this one compared to older games, but I see far more respect coming from him here than I ever did in DMC3. And new Dante is just interesting because he becomes so "human" despite his status as a nephilim, which is something people complained about prior to the game's release. But hey, to each their own. :)

Nosher Khan Sure. Cause that doesn't describe Old Dante in any capacity whatsoever. Unless you've got a dictionary definition for "absolute shit-eating little bitch" that clearly includes new Dante and excludes old Dante, I think you're going to be hard-pressed to make an objective case here. Like I said, to each their own. If you don't like him, you don't like him. But I do. And frankly most of the differences between the two characters are cosmetic and minor.

@@CrystalKyddon't hate me for this but, it's actually quite not bad in lot of aspects The art direction, the visual (Like the colors they used for each worlds like Limbo and others) The soundtrack is pretty bop as well And the outfit that Dante and Vergil uses here is not bad either, it's pretty "modern-trendy" if you can say that but not just so stylish as the original. The gameplay obviously is really amazing too.

Aahh this scene. You know, I liked the game part of this game, really. It was fun. And while being a big fan of original series (except DMC2, oh God no), I didn't have problems with the Visual redesign of the brothers. I mean, They both look alright. And in the final game, Dante looks MUCH better than he did in that old trailer that made everyone's piss boil. Its the story, the plot, and characters that make me... uncomfortable. And to anyone who is going to defend this game's story, please, sit down and let me tell you a story about Dante and Vergil: A long time ago I played DMC3 and back then it was the first game (of many more to come) that made me realise that video games CAN make drama and must be considered high art. The conflict between the two brothers is so nicely done. I mean, we have two half-demon brothers, but one of them rejects his devilish nature while accepting humanity, while another one despises his humanity and seeks more power to become a stronger demon. But why? Why was Vergil so mad with power? The way I see it, he was extremely traumatized by the death of their mother which he couldn't prevent, because he was a little weak human child. He couldn't save his mother and he couldn't protect his younger brother. And it is a big psychological issue. He became obsessed with becoming stronger for the sake of it, while his disgust and hate for weak humans grew. But wait, there's more: As we know from DMC4, Vergil had a family, a son by the events of DMC3 (don't even get me started on proofs for that. It is confirmed that Nero is Vergil's son in the artbook so shut up). And it is also tragic because after all, it shows that Dante was right all the along: Humans are stronger than demons because they can love and care for the loved ones. And despite all his hatred and disgust for humanity, Vergil did find a heart in his nature, a heart able to love. So now we truly know what was the reason for that obsession with power. He wanted to become strong so that what happened to his father, mother and brother would never happen again with his new family. "Foolishness Dante. Foolishness. Might controls everything - and without strength, you cannot protect anything". Who knows, maybe he wanted to obtain Sparda's strength to descent to hell and kill Mundus once and for all. Do what his father couldn't do when he instead just sealed him. And what, decades later, Dante finally did, ironically, with the help of Vergil. Which brings me to another problem: Why didn't Vergil tell Dante about it? Dante only tried to stop him because he believed that Vergil has gone mad and became a villain who wants to rule the world with power. None of this would have happened if Vergil told him his reasons. I believe hi didn't tell him because he didn't want to get Dante involved, just lure him in, take the amulet and continue on his own. There could be several reasons for it: His obsession with power and hatred towards any kind of weakness made him believe that asking Dante for help is a weakness. Maybe he didn't want Dante to know that he has a human wife and a 3\4 human child. I mean, that would be awkward to tell after all the time you said you hated humans. Or maybe, he didn't want to get Dante involved because he cares for Dante and didn't want to risk Dante's life as well as his own. In the end, after being defeated, he still doesn't do anything to change his principal position. He sees that Dante is stronger than he could ever be, so what's the point? So he casts himself down to the demon world, not allowing Dante to save him. And down there, broken, weak, defeated and without the powers he so much needed and desired, he still challenges Mundus as the last thing he could do... and fails. He dies and his soul becomes imprisoned in that black armor, forever becoming Mundus's slave-bodyguard as a mocking punishment for ever daring to challenge him. Until decades later, when he is freed by Dante. I believe that the moment Dante defeats Nero Angelo that 3rd time and he explodes in glowing blue flames, that was the moment teenage Nero got that demonic arm. The last shred of Vergil's soul longed for the thing he always cared the most and the thing he thought about last before dying - his son.

And what do we have in the reboot? A pathetic whiner, who never does anything by his own, only uses his brother to do things for him to "together" defeat Mundus. Developers desperately tried to make their Vergil cool by giving him that godawful fedora (and then taking it away in the re-release), turning him into V from "V for Vendetta" with Literally Guy Fox mask and rebellious group of followers, then they make him a cool hacker and computer geek by showing him tapping buttons very quickly. But it all was alright. They fucked his character big when they wrote that scene where he SHOOTS (Everyone knows Vergil despises guns as an unhonorable weapon) a HOSTAGE PREGNANT WOMAN IN THE BACK, KILLING HER BABY, TAKING PAUSE TO LET HER REALISE IT, AND THEN KILLS HER. And what next? Nothing. They added a scene in the definitive edition where he explains this to slightly upset Dante and they both just get over it. And then something really, really retarded happens. First Vergil basically pulls a bunch of tricks out of his ass and starts flinging summon swords and teleporting (would have really helped back when he was "cornered" behind that locked door with te computer and didn't help that girl). Its like developers made most of the game, only then finally played DMC3 for a bit and decided to include these things. As well as the ending. Remember what a big dramatic conflict did Dante and Vergil have in dmc3? Remember how dramatic their final battle was after all that build-up? Well, apparently the reboot makers decided to make one to, only they forgot to write any reasons or stakes for it. So Suddenly Vergil out of nowhere becomes an evil villain and you guessed it! Wants to rule the world! A plot twist as smooth and natural as a cactus being inserted in the main writer's rectum. What a pussy-whipped bitch Dante is in that game, and how he does everything Vergil says while not giving two fucks about humans and then suddenly decides to fight for them against evil Vergil is another story. Aaaaand then we get that DLC "Vergil's downfall" where we finally learn that... THAT... That Vergil is a bitch. A pathetic, whiny, weak, inept, cowardly, socially retarded mummy's boy, who had a grudge against mum cause he thought she loved Dante more; against that girl (who he never gave two fucks about and wanted her dead, I'll remind you), because she apparently liked Dante more and believed he is a better man; against Dante for being so cool and better that he is, and against himself for of being such a bitch. In the end, we see him turn in some laughable white-skinned red-eyed abomination and then he becomes so strong and cool (nice try ninja, by telling it you won't make it true), that apparently he becomes some kind of a new king of demons and leads his new army to the promised land of sequel that I hope to God never comes.

Pedro M. Thx, I'm pleased to hear that someone liked it :) It just really grinds my gears when people, while defending reboot's story, say that original series didn't have a good story either. Its like dark souls: you have a weak story on the surface and you must keep digging deeper to find the real plot. Allthough, admittedly, most of what i said about original Vergil can basically be considered my fan-fiction untill it is confirmed. Because, as much sence as it all makes when i put it like that, we dont really have much information about Vergil. I just got together those few facts we have from dmc, dmc3, dmc4 and two mangas, and figured the rest with my imagination. All we have left is to hope that Capcom will actually make proper dmc5 at some point and explore Vergil's character and story deeper in flashbacks or something.

You don't suck. This was a great fight. I mean its great to be perfect at the battle, but being hit a few times here and there with little error made the fight have more value than it may seem. Why? Its because it felt like a movie sequence. It felt...real. Its good that you didn't make Virgil look like a wimp. You won the fight. Overcame the power and skill that your opponent used(and getting hit a few times gave it more of an emotional effect.) Overall it feels like Virgil had some virtue in the battle, but Dante's was greater.

Ok i'm gonna explain why most people don't like this dante. It's because they took an iconic character and completely changed him, shit like that is not cool. It'd be like if they took super mario and made him into a macho american, you just don't fuck with established characters. But the main reason people are so passionate about it is because a lot of us played the first DMC when it first came out in 2001 I was 12 back then.
@leon400010 жыл бұрын
What always bugged me about this new Dante, is that they went and changed him to be "hip and cool" with the current generation, and Dante isn't the first, they kept doing this kind of stupid thing time and time again with every franchise Another thing that bugged is that some fans and maybe developers are trying to pin this with This DmC being the prequel to DMC3. I disagree with that fully. As far as I know DmC is an alternate universe with its own thing. The original Dante and Vergil were half demons, so they shouldn't pin this DmC as a prequel. I agree with you bluevenom50, I get franchises having storyline issues, but you don't change what doesn't really need to be changed. I'm also getting a bit tired of how they say "old dante" sucks when if it wasn't for that Dante, they wouldn't have this reboot (an average game imo) right now. Its like they are trashing the original series when most games except Devil May Cry 2 hit it off very well.

Noticing how Vergil fights without wasted move and how Dante fights recklessly with excessive force, much like a noble swordman vs a street punk perfectly depicted how different life they live to grow up into the adults they are right now.
