It is so heart warming to how much Tyson has developed since the start of your video series. So many kids with ASD - and parents of them, are constantly told to not challenge the kids, to never put demands on them. It is so infuriating when you meet those hordes of people that do not see the desperate kid behind the autism that is just dying to come out, take pride in themselves and get out of the pigeon-hole. You should be extremely proud of how you have helped Tyson get the self respect that shines out of him.

Thanks Titan, for inspiring me to jump into this "world" with both feet. I'm not going to lie, I'm scared, ...but inspired more. Letting everyone see behind the veil is what I appreciate most about you and your team. Meeting you, Tyson, and Dave at IMTS just reinforced the fact that ya'll are the same in person as you are on camera and that is rare these days. As I get going with the transition from electrical contractor to machine shop, I'll keep ya'll updated with the play by play...good and bad. Thanks again for you heart.

My shop is almost all Haas vertical and horizontal mills and lathes. We have one lathe with live tooling but for the most part it's just your standard production type models, nothing too exotic. We just brought in a Mori Seiki NVM5000 which has their new DCG (Driven at the Center of Gravity) and DDM (direct drive motor that is the B axis. No belts, worm gears. And every axis has twin ballscrews. It is insane. The rigidity is so high that you can run unbelievable feeds and speeds. We're just figuring out all the little nuances and tricks. The factory man we have helping us set it up is really good and we are figuring which jobs would warrant that machine vs our Haas's. But we are excited! There's a video on KZbin that really shows off all the features. Check it out.

Wow! Im personally using a DMG MORI Dmc 85 milling machine with a 6 pallet pallet changer at my student job, amd it works gret! The seimans touch controller is great for learning cnc machining!

DMG rocks, we have some old johnford (taiwan) machines next to a DMG at work, the Johnfords vibrate heavy on just a 2mm face cut while the same size dmg machine does 5mm cuts and all you hear is chips smacking against the wall.

Look into creating snippets. It's under the program tab, file browser, templates, snippet templates. It's a nice easy way to create little canned bits of information that you use over and over with text box and drop down menu inputs. Really neat feature.

I used to work on a dmu 85 monoblock machining wing ribs for airbus, it always crashed when performing simultaneous 5 axis maneuvers. Personally I prefer matsuura.

Mori even changed the processor, it seemed like it couldn't handle a program with many lines of code where it was only traveling a short distance.

Haas make very good budget machines. They used to have a reputation for being light duty only, but I think they've improved a lot since then. 'Boom' for buck though, Haas wins. That DMG Mori though is so fucking sexy. Mori machines are the Rolls Royce of the machining world. That nlx is a beautiful thing... I've run 30 year old mori machines that still hold tenths. I've also run mori machines up until the generation just before the nlx (nl2500sy/700) and they too are pure machining excellence. The controller is so good you can program pretty much anything on the machine control itself, instead of relying on CAM software to do the programming for you. Seiki is Japanese for precision, random fact lol. (Mori Seiki, Seiko watches)

@@TITANSofCNC I look forward to seeing more content on the mori. How's about doing an example part. Start with selecting and setting tools, then program a part on the machine control, then make it. Just make a bar with a couple of different diameters, maybe a hex on the end with some cross drilled holes. A bored ID with an internal groove. Something like that anyway... Would be interesting because I've not used the new control that's on the NLX. What's the max bar diameter on the nlx that you have? Spindle ID I mean.. Thanks

I worked for a sheet metal company that fabricated the cover parts to the CMX and NHX series machines. I've been to their Davis facility and I really liked the quality I saw.

Tyson is very humble young guy, and You are very proud because of his accomplish and knowledge..., he got ‐ He is most talented young person that I ever seen 🎯 . I'm also CNC machinist, but my wish is to learn CAM &/or Solidworks programming. If You guys have some tips for this, how I can find free version of similar software for programming. I've programming with Siemens software for sinumerik prog. "Win NC" but this is so different from Cycle 's and it's hard to adapt on this FANUC control and strange G-code substitute for sinumerik generic standard . If U know what I mean!?. So I was watching one of your free episodes and it showed a clip of your shop location "Rocklin." I searched your shop on Google maps to find that it's only 30 min away! Would you ever consider something like a meet and greet at you shop? After hours of course so that there are no distractions to the workers. I think it would be really cool to meet you and see a cnc shop in person. I'm only 19 and I've never seen a cnc shop in person.

I heard DMG is starting to build a lot of machines in USA is that part of why you bought one of these? I bought an nl2500Y back in 2008 the outside is totally different but the inside still looks the same. What brand of live tools did you go with? I Find that makes such a bid difference on a machine like this.

Yes they built their new plant 30 min down the road and use US workers to make a lot of machines... also farm out to local shops

We build machines in the US; automation of various types. Never mind the fact that 90% of the componentry comes from overseas, especially the critical parts like guiderails, bearings, electronics, stepper motors, etc., etc.. "Made in the USA" takes on a whole new meaning in the real world of reliable machine building.

Could you do a video on how to setup the tools correctly on the controller? I'm getting mind boggled by it. And would you have any idea why mine adds 16 to the offset for sub spindle tools when programming, it's making no sense to me given its a 12 station turret 🤷‍♂️

The machine is definitely cool, but it’s not quite clear to me exactly how the axis B works on this machine, because the revolver doesn’t spin around the Y axis, like for example on the Index G200, what type of guides does this machine have, rail guides or sliding guides?

My guess is repeatability issues with Haas for aerospace jobs. Haas is supposed to be repeatable to .0005, some other machines (not sure if the Mori machines are) are repeatable to .00005, if the job has a tolerance of +0 -.0002 Haas can make one part, but a run of parts will be really hard. Basically you have to make each part individually.

Because a Haas is like a honda civic, a good reliable work horse that gets the job done, but not in that particularly great of fashion (hey atleast its not tormach). When Mori Seiki is a super charged corvette with a roll cage and suspension.. Mori's are really, really, nice. Twin ballscrews on each axis, rigidity is insane, can hold way better tolerances, better repeatability, better controller etc.

That cutoff tool sucks. Iscar makes a coolant thru one good up to 3 inches. Highly recommend. Can be used as a deep groover also

For Capto and Driven Tools Check WTO, MT Marchetti or Sauter Feinmechanik. Please don't buy anything else. This is not a Haas or a Spinner. If your Holder is broken or leaky you get Water in the Turrent and then ist the Machine broken. I work with this Mashines, Nl, NLX, NZX, NTX and no Company can build Machines like Mori. There is only one Point I don't like on it, Touch. I Hate Touch on CNC-Mashines. Whiteout I can programm 3 Times faster. I also work with: Star, Traub, Index, Yamazaki (Mazak), Voest-Alpine and Takamz. Please write if anyone need a Job in Germany

I hate this machine. I’ve been using it lately for a Honeywell job. I’d much rather use the NLX2500Y for my day to day aerospace turning. The controller IS NOT user friendly. Give it a few months and the input touch screen will become unresponsive.

Suzaru87 Nope. Made in Nara Japan. Mori Seiki actually acquired DMG, but because of the culture of honor and respect, they put DMG first in the new name. Fascinating company and structure.

@@Adam-b8i you are wrong. In March 2009, DMG company signed a cooperation agreement with the Japanese company, Mori Seiki. This agreement allowed the company to further consolidate its sales and service network in global key markets. The cooperation in markets in Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and Turkey was followed by the USA and India. Since September 2011, the two companies have continued to further expand their joint market presence in Europe. In order to strengthen their successful global cooperation, Gildemeister and Mori Seiki signed a cooperation agreement and decided to align their company names. On 1 October 2013, Gildemeister Aktiengesellschaft became DMG MORI Seiki Aktiengesellschaft. Mori Seiki changed its name to DMG MORI Seiki Company Limited. On the global market, both companies used the DMG MORI brand.
