yes! the original composition is flowing with lightness and happiness but also tinged with a bit of sadness and nostalgia (“saudades”).

I saw that. My teacher would never allow me to modify anything like that, even if it works fine - which it clearly does. I guess having that artistic licence is yet another perk of playing this music so perfectly

I don’t have any issue with it personally. Masleev won the Tchaikovsky competition, he’s free to take an artistic license where he sees fit in my book!
