Very good section in here about 30 mins in about the Kua. You mentioned it's worth a podcast of its own - how about that?

Thanks Damo, this is helpful after attending the foundations introduction in Fremantle. I have been exploring some of your other content and explanations and I'm feeling very inspired. Currently working on opening up the qua after recognising this area is very stiff for me. Was great meeting you. Mitch.

Hello! I am doing one of these short teachers training courses (3 months) online; now in second week. Am enjoying it and we are spending a lot of time on the wuji posture. However, the teacher is encouraging us to tuck the tailbone under, also has given us a wall exercise to straighten the back and improve posture; I heard on another of your poddies not to do that. Oh dear!
@LotusNeiGong10 ай бұрын
Well, I wouldn’t want to comment directly on and get involved in what you are doing but be careful with spine straightening and pelvis tucking as that is a major error to me. Especially for women as it leads to compaction and stagnation in the abdomen which has vulnerable stuff like the uterus in there!
@beckaflynn112810 ай бұрын
@@LotusNeiGong I used to be a big time pelvis tucker before I learned it was an error and I believe I suffer from compaction of the abdomen that you describe. Is there any method to remedy or undo this?

In Australia, many tai chi/qi gong teachers fit in to this yoga 200hr model. Annoyed me for years trying to find a real teacher that actually has skill in the internal arts. Ive seen a Xuan Wu Wudang qi gong that does this "flow" style which just looks like dance, yet ive seen an African breatharian with high qi skill doing the Ba duan jin form very badly, yet had the qi skill and not needing to eat. Its actually quite confusing to the uninitiated. I like the word "poised" for song/relaxation issue. Yoga (which I trained for years in) is a huge amount of effort with very little spiritual benefits imo and the current trend of basic people becoming teachers with no actual skill or expertise is annoying af. Basically if your flexible enough to do the moves and can remember the form, you can teach... Thanks for coming to Australia!! hoping you add East coast cities to your list of places to teach, specifically Gold Coast, because thats where I am ;)

I always enjoy listening to these podcasts. You're talking about comparing qigong with something you don't consider to be qigong, which is cool, but something that might be interesting is hearing you comparing different methods of arts you do consider to be qigong. You have a method of achieving specific body transformations, I'd be interested in hearing you compare that to other successful methods of achieving that or similar body transformations. Anyway, thanks again for the interesting talk!

I really likese these types of videos from you Damo talking really fleshing out the concepts. I just wondered when creating the compression that is the internal body, is there a way to decompress the body or a certain chamber of the body in case you feel you have compressed it too much? For example I was messing about with some stuff I read about how to compress the Daimai and I seemed to have compressed it a little too much, so was wondering if there a way to undo this?

"Earning the right to relax" reminds me of guitar playing. At first you are tense as you learn the movements. Later, you become relaxed and poised to efficiently fret a note with least effort, which allows more fluid playing. The best players make the complex look easy because of such relaxed poise and efficiency, at least imo. But, you don't start that way. Now that I think of it, that applies to any high level of athletic endeavor.

You did such a great work researching and preserving authentic Nei Gong. Thank you very much! Are there people who did something similar with the other Eastern internal arts, such as Yoga (Hatha Yoga, Laya Yoga, Raja Yoga), Tantra (e.g. in the tradition of Kashmir Shaivism or the other Hindu denominations) and Tsalung (six yogas of Naropa, especially Tummo)? Although I know you are careful when talking about arts you are not teaching yourself, can you name (if not recommend) some books or teachers in these internal arts?
@LotusNeiGong10 ай бұрын
Hi, I would happily answer you on this if u had the info but truth be told, I don’t have much in the way of good contacts in those fields. I am not in the loop on these guys sorry 🙏
@Herbert-dt6br10 ай бұрын
@@LotusNeiGong Okay, thanks. What do you mean by "if u had the info", though?
@Herbert-dt6br10 ай бұрын
For example, on the Lotus Nei Gong Web Site it says "The Chinese developed a highly complex model of the interactions between Yin and Yang whereas the Indian models involve the movements of solar and lunar energy. Though there are striking similarities, the traditions focused upon different regions and aspects of the energetic matrix." I wonder where you got this information from - what is meant by solar and lunar energy? I also read you travelled to many Asian countries including India extensively researching all authentic internal arts traditions. I wonder what your best hits in these arts where. Can't you remember a single name? It doesn't have to be up to date and I understand you can't recommend someone. A starting point would be all I need for my research.
@LotusNeiGong10 ай бұрын
@@Herbert-dt6br I have done my own research and studied the arts myself BUT I didn't go anywhere near as deep into those arts as I did Nei Gong. Therefor I sometimes refer to other arts and traditions but I stay within my own field generally. I wouldn't want to recommend people as there are many out there far more knowledgable than I on the 'scene'. Better off heading to groups focused on those arts and asking around there :)

For Tantric practices I would recommend Rajarshi Nandy his main focus is deity based practices for general peoples tantras have gradations of attainments as well without an initiation we cannot go deep into hindu spiritual practices as in the case of any arts that involve deep energetic practices for hatha yoga and all their are many options master damo talks very clearly that human system is more complex than we think both systems are valid but the main focus is on different matrixes hope it helps

As a dancer, singer, yoga and nei gong practitioner, it would be mentally exhausting to try and separate these practices from each other. There is certainly an influence of the qi built in cultivation practice, and the expressive potential aka “flow” the body can actualize.
@LotusNeiGong10 ай бұрын
Sure, to divide so many arts would be difficult, but instead you would have to accept that these arts have become a mix and none of them are presented in their most correct form. That’s fine though, your own practice is your own practice :)
@watterbotttle8410 ай бұрын
@@LotusNeiGongI am also for the purity and focus needed for instructing on an individual art. I’m just saying it gets to a point where it feels like they’re all pointing to the same thing. Anyhow your Nei Gong instructions has certainly been the most efficient and effective way there so thanks much 🙏

Thank you Damo. I always enjoy your talks and after many years of daily practice (lots of times getting things wrong before correcting them) my aim is that what I work on and learn helps with my own art form as a classical singer and helping others as a singing teacher. Your on line classes, podcasts and your books have helped me without doubt, 🙏🏻 . Like @watterbottle84 for me they bind together for my skill development, work and art form; learning to pay attention and listen to my breath and body, meditation, and “anchoring” the breath are as much of my personal practice as the standing and dao yin before I bring these into breathing for singing and vocalising. Forgive my rambling but as Qi Gong has so many branches and is used as an umbrella term, is it time to re-name the various styles as to what they are and what they do? Semantics, languages and egos are often a barrier to these art forms and you are one of the few that make sense of them but isn’t a “flow state” (energetically, internally, externally, physical, mental and spiritual) what many of us are trying to achieve, have I chosen incorrectly? Am I not practicing Qi Gong? If not- what shall I call it? Does it matter? Many thanks again and best wishes. Darren
