I was watching the Video and was wondering; can't you use the 4000 disconnect when leaving a talk group? looks like it would free it up faster. just guessing not sure.

Hi W7DOA Can I program the brandmeister tg's and use them on a DMR repeater not linked to brandmeister? In my area only 1 repeater near me linked to BM but I have other DMR repeaters just not linked to BM

I don't believe you can use Brandmeister DMR talk groups on repeaters that are not connected to the Brandmeister Network. It's kinda like you can't use your neighbor's computer network unless you are connected to it. However, some networks have bridges that connect one or more of their talk groups to others like Brandmeister. But they may only be one or two talk groups.

@@W7DOAatHamRadio i have another question, maybe you know the answer. Every dmr repeater tells you which time slot to use and when you follow their instructions and ptt that tg it seems traffic is dead. seems like a ghost town, maybe 1,2 people on. But if you switch to let's say ts2 which is the one they usually tell you its private then you hear traffic!!! and by the way brandmeister tg work on non brandmeister dmr repeater. So any how is there anyway to get that traffic if they don't want you to use ts2 ?

Without knowing the exact repeater or setup, I'm kinda guessing here. Locally, TS2 is not really "private". But it is reserved for only one TG that is associated with the owners of the repeater. This guarantees that the owners will always have at least one group they can get through on. Anyone can use that TG, they just don't like other TG's on that TS. And there may not be many people using that one TG. On the otherhand, TS1 has several static TG's on it and if you want to use a dynamic TG, they encourage you to use TS1. This may make it seem like there is more traffic on TS1, rather than TS2. If you are supposed to use a specific TG on one TS, but you are hearing more traffic on that TG on the other TS, then there may be other people in the area that have their radio programmed incorrectly and are bringing that TG up as dynamic on the other TG. It's really hard to tell without knowing the specifics.

If you plan on talking on ham radio freq's and talkgroups you will need to get a license from the country you live in. Once you have the license you an apply for and get the DMR ID which is free to get. But yes, you will need a license first.

You need to be a FCC licensed amateur radio operator at a minimum of technician level. You won't be able to get a digital radio ID without port of license.
