My problem with this game (along with Security Breach) is the lack of a good gameplay loop, and none of the mechanics are fleshed out. I also agree that the futuristic designs fit with the series pretty well for the reason you mentioned, although most people seem to think otherwise.

23:58 I'm going to take a guess the reason why Micheal didn't is that he wanted to know more about what happened to his sister (who died,) and to get some closure over his brother and sister's deaths. Micheal probably didn't know that his father killed a bunch of kids or that his sister was possessed by Baby and wanted to do this and cut ties with his family but well that didn't happen. At least he gets closure after simulator.
@TheOnlyPedroGameplays2 жыл бұрын
Yeah if the game were less dialogue heavy and if: 1. The facility wasn't traversed through linearly 2. The gameplay loop focused more on objectives to get more of a feel for the night instead of railroading you to do basically one thing then leave. The objectives in the later nights pushing the plot further than the earlier nights to keep the 5-night structure. Then it'd be so good and probably my favorite fnaf game.
@quinnmaillot3882 Жыл бұрын
A major note regarding the story, this was the game that told us that crying child was an Afton, as well as the Fnaf 4 house being tied to the facility. Many of this games' weaknesses storywise are due in large part to having to pave over the mistakes made in fnaf 4 and put the story back on track. This allowed us to establish William Aftons motive... probably.

I really don’t like Sister Location because it felt like the end of the og uncanny and retro feeling of the first 4 games and the beginning of the more sci fi and plastic style of FNAF that we’re still stuck in. Said vibe also made it easier to make the games more directed towards kids hence why Security Breach is quite squeaky clean compared to past games. I would have been fine if FNAF 4 was the last major game of the series, because the direction it took after was not my cup of tea. It doesn’t help Sister Location also added a bunch of new lore, that at the same time wasn’t well explained. It all got too convoluted with how many new questions it brought while answering almost no questions. At least Pizza Simulator was alright, even though the baggage from Sister Location hampered it. That being said, it is kind of weird to hate Sister Location but love Security Breach. Cause I would still say Sister Location is better then Security Breach.

I feel like even though it's no longer my favorite game In the series (that goes to Pizza Sim and FNAF 4), it still being my number 3 still says alot about my loyalty to this game. The reason I love this game so much even though objectively it's only a good one time experience with subsequent playthroughs being less and less stellar, is simply the fact that it was NEEDED. SL being a shake up to the traditional formula even more so than FNAF 4 was something that we had never seen, and while the novelty has worn off with games following it making it less special, I still enjoy a good portion of this game, rather it be the Funtime Freddy segments, Ennard's night, or even Night 4... when I'm lucky. This was also when FNAF lore went completely crazy and what we know it as today, and I will always remember so much about what happened, the characters will always probably be my favorite overall group of characters, and the overall aesthetic of the game just works so much to me. This is by no means the best FNAF game, but it's one of my favorites for a variety of reasons both personal and not.

I love the original three games and the fourth game was unnecessary, but at least it was decent. Sister Location completely ruined the lore, and the game itself feels out of place with the rest of the series. Far too sci-fi for the series and elements like the Afton Family and Remnant and the whole idea of even giving Purple Guy a fixed identity, a mad scientist at that, destroys everything interesting about the previous games that kept them grounded. I respect Scott, but he made a huge mistake when making the fifth game.

One thing I can say about desk man is if he is Henry Emily, and both he shot and killed himself and set the Pizza Sim trap ablaze, if he used a metal bullet... He could have came back much like William or Micheal by possessing his own body. Also there is the theory that Molten Freddy has Evan/Crying Child leading as well as the five missing children. If that is all true, the souls in Pizza Sim would be in no uncertain terms every Afton, both Emilys, and the missing children all in one final (not final) blaze to save them all. All the ones that needed saving. Of course, since the Funtimes would have been made with the remnant from the OG five before happiest day, the Funtimes' fragments of souls either weren't factored into the freeing of souls from happiest day, happiest day is set after every other event, or happiest day is more a "join the club" situation instead. The original Music Man is actually a Funtime I think.

gameplay-wise, it's main flaws are that the cool ideas it has were not super delved into, and with little to pace the space between minigames, it's one a those you play once or twice, and never touch again, as opposed to previous games, usually more replayable. it doesn't help there's so much scripted stuff. i didn't know ballora's segment was completely scripted until uhyeah's video! of course, you'd only know this if you died... which respawns you at the very start of the night. always. including night 5, if you were attempting to do the secret fight against ennard. if you lose, you have to get to baby, input the code on the tiny numberless keypad, and then go back to the private room. it's annoying. i'm not even gonna mention night 4, that's low-hanging fruit. but i'm gonna mention how most of the minigames amount to very little. the most substantial one is freddy's in the break room, and the section where you have to fix him is pretty cool too! everything else is kinda lacking, even if it's definitely scary for a first time player, which plays more into the "play it once" nature of the whole thing. now... the story. i like some of the core ideas, playing as mike afton, trying to find out what happened to your sister, all that. but everything else? it varies from "not the biggest fan" to "i really don't like it". especially the final retro cutscene of the custom night (it's different, i know, but same story). hollow purple zombie mike was the last thing i expected this series to pull off, and i don't mean it in a good way. i was ok with it at first, but even from the start, whenever i liked to think of my own version of the story, i always left out the part where mike dies, especially if it was just to become, well, that. on a side note, not the biggest fan of baby either, or how little screen time some of the robots got, like ballora, the other fully new character in the game. like, with sentient robots stuck at an underground location, only taken outside when they're needed, having to follow a set of rules, has so much potential! imagine if, when no one's in the building, the rentals became the funtime's personal, twisted wonderland! a place for them to show their true selves, twisted from years of abuse at the hands of the technicians, with baby acting as the "princess" of the whole thing. it's just one idea of many, but it's the thing i think of the most whenever i remember the trailers and most fan-made songs, video clips and animations. i know there's a reason for it, remnant and stuff, but trying to explain why the spirits appear and how the robots are alive not only removes the cool mystery that never really needed to be solved, it also goes into my opinion on sci-fi as a whole in the series: plain and simple, i don't like it that much. i loved the old aesthetics of the animatronics, the decrepit mascots you could find in pizzerias. meanwhile, the toys and the funtimes feel so dislocated from that. they're less like animatronics, and more like regular robots. at least the toys look like life-sized toys i suppose, or mechanized puppets in a more literal sense. the funtimes tho, as much as i like the design of... well, some of them, i can't say i like their concept as a whole. how would any kid look at those things, and think they're, well, the characters they're supposed to represent? when a young kid goes to a chuck e. cheese, he looks at the animatronics (or, well, looked, these are dark times indeed) and goes "wow! it's chuck e. cheese!", not "wow! it's a chuck e. cheese robot!" the emphasis from fnaf on advertising the characters as animatronics always felt weird to me, as if it kinda broke the illusion of "fantasy and fun coming to life" right before they even try to make it work. and there's other things really, mostly springtrap, or rather, william afton becoming some immortal genius mastermind that sees his death as a gift instead of a karmic punishment, but it's mostly the constant evolution towards the future and the high-tech that made me feel increasingly uninterested in the series' lore. and besides the sci-fi, it's just ridiculous thing after ridiculous thing, like, i don't need to mention some of the books, right? i'm very much aware this is merely my opinion, i know many people love the sci-fi stuff, but to me, Sister Location felt like the turning point of the franchise in this way, and while it definitely appeals to many, it's something that doesn't really appeal to me.

2:30 As someone who's been around for all of this, I strongly disagree. At the time of FNAF World's development, Scott had released four FNAF titles in two years, all of which were attempting to iterate on the template FNAF 1 had set up. By the time FNAF 4 was out the prevailing criticisms were that Scott was milking his success for all it was worth, that the formula was getting stale, and that the games just weren't scary anymore. The state of FNAF World on release was pretty deeply flawed - it was a game clearly designed with mobile devices in mind, but at the same time also hadn't accounted for how PC players would experience it. When it got a mixed reception it got pulled from Steam by Scott himself, at which point refunds were issued and the game was removed from the platform. Both FNAF 3 and 4 had been declared to be the 'final' entries - when FNAF World was released and then withdrawn it really looked like it was the last entry in the franchise. In that context, it was clearly originally intended as a celebration of the characters, an acknowledgement that they really did live on in the hearts and minds of the fanbase in spite of how grim their circumstances were in the base games. _That_ was why Baby's reveal in FNAF World got everyone so hyped - because it wasn't something anyone was expecting under the circumstances. 18:47 At that point, the Aftons were the only remaining thread in the story. In my personal opinion, the story has _never_ actually been a planned thing - a lot of it is just Scott spit-balling and then retroactively tying threads together as best he can. However, this would only be a criticism if he didn't seem to be exceptionally good at reverse-engineering a story into existence and then planting breadcrumbs for people to find and then speculate over. This comes back to the fact that 3, 4, and World all seem to have been initially intended as an ending for the series. The children's story was over - there were details and specifics that still weren't known, but they were secondary logistical concerns, pieces of a puzzle that may not actually fit together (even if it's surprisingly fun to try to make them do so). There was nowhere else to go with the 'main' story that wouldn't either re-tread ground, or else risk ruining the puzzle by giving too much away or revealing it to be a sham.

Sister Location is bad because it tries to undo the mess created by FNaF 4 when Scott tried to make everything a dream. It's a necessary game because it makes everything real again (fans hated dream theory), however it introduces way too many concepts : the Scooper Room, skin suits, William Afton's name and his weirdly futuristic empire, hidden cameras in a child's room, remnant, Elizabeth... it's a mess. It is also, however, a necessary transitional game.

I have so many issues with Sister Location as well. In my personal opinion, the biggest reason why Sister Location is my least favorite game ever made is because of (at least to me) a distinct lack of quality. Some of the environments felt unfinished, too many elements of the game is scripted, and even the story sucks. Everything just feels half assed. In my personal opinion, unless your genuinely the best writer ever who can't make a single mistake in your work, you should not incorporate any comedy to a piece of horror media. And yet Sister Location did that, and look at how "scary" it is. Also Sister Location is not scary and I really wnat to say that objectively.
