About the same as Geemail. I always stop but to date I have never had anyone stop for me. It is sometimes difficult to stop knowing if it were me on the side of the road that I would be waiting a long time. Worst one: had my handlebars fall off(new bars and the bolts fell out) on mountain twistys in Arkansas and ended up wearing the bike in a rock filled ditch. No cell signal. Not a single person, bike, car or truck stopped. Literally had to pick the bike up off me. I hiked back up the road found two of the bolts and made it to a hardware store. So thumbs up to each and all that do still honor the old school rules- and that other finger to the ones that ride on past.

Had a taste of the biker code when I did a lap of Australia on a Kawasaki 750 back in 1989. Bike was flooded & wouldn't start, I was struggling to push start the thing. Guy pulls up on a Harley. "Having trouble?" "yep" "won't start huh" "yep" "Serves ya right for buying Japanese" & off he went...

Good video !! I am 74 and remember very well this biker code! To this day I still pull over.... (even tho I dont know anything about fixin bikes nowadays) if only to sympathize and offer help. It is ALWAYS appreciated. For myself.... I pay HOG OWNERS ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE which I have used with 100% success. My last time deserves a brief story ... on a road trip from Texas to Lake Tahoe I broke down (stator & volt reg on HWY 50 (Loneliest Highway in the USA) 175 miles from Carson City. HOG had a tow truck out to me in 3 hours and hauled me to Battle Born HD dealer and I was back on the road. THANKS "Junior" (lmao) for sharing your video adventures.

I was with a guy riding quads.. he had a slice in his sidewall. We all carried plug kits we had a lot of steep hills to climb to get out of there and his rim was spinning inside the flat tire so we had to try something. For the hell of it he put plug after plug in the sidewall, about six of them, with contact cement/vulcanizing glue that came with the plug kits.. it held well enough to get back about 6 miles to our trucks deep in hilly Play area for quads and dirt bikes and buggies and off-road vehicles in Ohio.. there is a certain type of patch that looks like a mushroom. it’s like a plug with a patch on the end you must install it from the inside of the tire..It has a stem and a flat patch in one that might’ve got you out of that if you could break the tire off the bead. When you need to break a tire bead, it takes two people to do this, use the side stand of the heaviest motorcycle there to break the bead of the tire you need to fix. Just lay the tire on the ground beside the side stand, and have the guy tilt his motorcycle with a side stand down right on the tire at the bead…That will break the bead.. I wasn’t there but to tell you the truth, since the bike felt Squirrley when you first pulled out, now you know that you should check the tire out when you feel that snake dance.. Love your videos. I would never consider going to Mexico for anything until I started watching your videos.. A coworker’s retired parents used to go south from Phoenix where they live into Mexico to get their prescriptions filled. One time they stopped to get a drink at a little restaurant. The next thing they knew they were waking up ..they were lucky-other retired Americans could see what was happening and they stayed with them until they recovered. Somebody put something in their drinks when they ordered … they say that is not uncommon for someone to spike your drink, then rob you, and you are screwed if they take all your papers and credit cards..

Honestly, The drifter life style makes me want to quit the 9-5 and sell everything. At the end of the day though you either got the balls to do it or not. Mad respect to you joe, i found you through scotty's youtube. I haven't seen all your episodes but i find it fascinating how you put the ones i watched together. Sorry bout your tire blowout! Unexpected expenses suck, I recently had a severe pain in my gallbladder and after about 4 hours i drove to the ER, (3am in the morning) I puked there and still had pains until about 10am, I did a CT scan also while i was there. 11am I was discharged and blessed to have the pain gone, however my bill was 7k! I have a high deductible plan from the job and have to come out of pocket about 4k! At the end of the day you gotta blessed for living and know you are fortunate to be alive. Bless you for giving to the handicap fella 19:00. Anytime you come through nebraska you or scotty have a place to stay friend, Thank you for the journey!

Joe, happy everything turned out ok. When you get stranded on a motorcycle, you’re really stranded. Front tire flats are lethal at high speed. Rear tires are easily controlled. Check tire pressure after every ride so you’ll know before you go. Ride safe.

Your issue was when you were putting the plugs in you where twisting it before you pulled it out that was just rapping the plug around it and causing you to pull the plug back out when you put the plugs in just push it in and pull it out no twisting sometimes with a larger whole I'll take two fingers and hold the plugs and pull the installer out between my fingers the older style plug kits you used to twist but these new ones you don't I just noticed it because it was a motion I had to get broke of to I hope this helps you in the future stay safe out there brother

In my 50+yrs living on MC & working as I go , iv worn out all bike brands. Even an st1300 & klr. But since evo days (84) Harley’s have just gotten more & more reliable. Good bikes now .. Was just curious As you probably remember I ride a Dyna converted to a touring bike.. fits me

I've demoed several of the new models and liked them. At the end of the day it's their prices, man. Not just for the bikes, but for parts/ service/ etc. Almost everyday when I'm working, I hear somebody got ripped off/ gouged. If they can rework their business model, I'll support them and sacrifice the $. But until then, I got a smokin' deal on the ST and it works just fine. Maybe not as cool, I'll grant you, but hell... I saved a LOT compared to the price of a comparable used hd 😎
@donpet82583 жыл бұрын
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond I understand.. hell I’m to old to care about cool. I buy best deal on used whatever brand, but I try for Harley first. Never new, my 2016 dyna FLD had 10k mi. For $8k. On road a lot, huge dealer network is major to me. That’s Harley or Honda. Plus us Cheepos find the small shops to support & less $. Like Scotty does. I just hated taking all the plastic off my wings, etc. Just to work on it. Any bikes a good ride ! Glad all going well for ya.. I modified tire plug tool too to shove in 3plugs at a time for big holes. It worked. Might not be the best idea ,I wouldn’t do it on the front.. but when stranded. 🤪
