I remember discovering Canibus and DMX on the same day back in 2011. I was randomly scrolling iTunes and they came up. Back then I was in middle school and the only 90’s rappers I really knew were mainstream dudes like Eminem, Jay Z and Busta Rhymes. I had absolutely no idea you could rap like them, especially in Canibus’ case. They opened the door for me to all the other 90’s rappers like Pun, Biggie, Nas…this freestyle is awesome to me for that reason.

Then he’d eventually drop those on another song down the line etc. perfect example, his freestyle on the backstage documentary. He used that verse later on on a drag on song.

Man if it wasn't for LL Cool J, or producers tampering with his debut album. We'd be talkin about Canibus on Goat status forums. He was so different from other lyricists in his time. At the time the internet was barely a thing he was on it hacking and making programs and supposedly he was the first artist to type out his lyrics instead of writing them. And he had a laptop when laptops where extremely rare and were worth over 3k. He was so far ahead in his time I bet he would have been the next to king of his era.
