I WAS married to a man just like this. The stories he would tell me about things I supposedly said or did were so far out of my character it was like night and day. He lied to me constantly. the things he said and did were the worst kind of emotional abuse. I was the bread winner but his constant abuse had me convinced I wouldn’t be able to make it on my own with 3 kids meanwhile, he did nothing whatsoever to help financially or with the house or the kids. I am so grateful that I finally got away.

I was with a loser like this too. He treated me like I couldn’t be trusted and believed the worst of me at every turn. He’d try to tell everyone he knew how terrible I was to try to minimize the verbal, emotional, and physical abuse he perpetrated against me. He on the other hand had cheated on every girlfriend he ever had. He was addicted to porn. He lost several jobs for not being able to maintain appropriate boundaries. He felt like a whore so he needed everyone else to be like him so he felt better about himself. He tried to tear me down constantly because he was insecure. He minimized all of my accomplishments because he had none. I’m glad I saw through him and got away before he was able to smash my self worth.

But, I did get out and have 3 very happy and successful (not just financially but also, well adjusted and happily married starting families of their own) children so I can’t complain!!!

She's only 23 and still a bit naïve. An older, more experienced woman would have likely had him return the favor by requiring him to take the test as well. Sometimes a cheating partner will project their own misdeeds onto their partner in order to divert possible attention from whatever dirt the cheater is doing...OR they'll desperately try to find or contrive evidence of your cheating in order to justify their own cheating.
