For the life of me, IN GENERAL, I don't really understand if people studied even basic history, how they are always like OH MY GOD, I have African in me, how is that even possible. Slave trade was a large horrible global affair, and ports were in America, Europe, Africa, South America, all these places. A lot of slaves were taken advantage of, and there was of course a lot of mixing of cultures/races by choice after, so it shouldn't be this huge surprise. It's nice to see someone celebrate it. I think whatever your make-up, and however you came to be, it should be something to celebrate, even if it came from rough circumstances, because it's who we are, it's how we all got here, and it's a part of us. Thanks for sharing your genetic story. So many places around the world, it's beautiful.

Alex, you may want to watch a history video of the Moors invasion of Portugal to understand the link to North Africa- Morocco.
Solo de Portugal que no existía, vaya chiste jajajaja

Among even Colombus journeys were Moriscos who were Moors, often mixed North African and Spaniard but also Arab/Arab-Spaniard mixed, who converted to Christianity. It was Portugal, Spain, and Sicily were Africans has ruled from 711 to 1492. The Black people who remained were those who converted to Christianity. Your Senegambia DNA also is likely from that same North African source.@@RodriguezPadillafamily

You guys have to remember the history of both Spain and the Spanish Colonies. Spain was ruled by the Moors (Arabs from Northern African) for around 400 years. When the Spanish colonized the Americas, there was a lot of moving back and forth also there was a lot of moving back and forth in the Mediterranean so it's not unusual for someone from Spain to have DNA that is found in Sicily and for someone in Sicily to have DNA that is found in Spain. I actually know a guy who is Italian American whose third or fourth grandfather was from Spain and moved to Sicily. Also, trace amounts could be missreads and unassigned means that they can't pinpoint where that DNA is from. Remember the regions where your DNA is from is a scientifically educated estimate now your DNA relatives are related to you because they share segments of the same DNA and those are accurate. So as someone who was adopted, please, if someone who is trying to find out who they are, help them but be careful because if they are genuine, they will not ask for money.

I think it is stupid when people act so racist by being excited about the African, but not the European.
@ldsweettee11 күн бұрын
I don't think they're trying to be racist. It's usually a given with having European blood if you know the history in the americas and the Caribbean. A lot of the Spanish speaking people of the americas don't acknowledge their african ancestry or talk about it. I think the excitement is just validation of something they may have thought but was unsure.

European was a given for me. I wanted to know the rest how is that raciest.
