I had done a similar concept build that was more for a general mech rather than specifically a Gundam, but it was the same general idea. I made a Warforged, going with the idea that it was the mech itself rather than the pilot in the mech. My idea was that if I used them in game, I would just have the players switch to these rather than their normal character sheets. Then I went 8 Rune Knight Fighter/12 War Magic Wizard, with the idea being that the various spells in the Wizard’s Spellbook were like weapons packages for the pilot to pick from. But I really like what you did with this: it really feels like building the pilot AND the Gundam 👍🏻

Well... I love how someone else picks up my idea there 😁 I am playing an artificer which has excactly this path in mind. But he is planned as an power ranger like tank Support. I will grab the fire Rune and the Wind Rune to prevent my Party from damage. I will be a pretty good Allrounder by being the Tank, some healing spells and my favorite combo: Bonus Action giants might for more damage, hoping for a 20 and then let the fire Rune prock for a decent amount of damage!

Yeah but when your “gundun” dies you mc dies. With these builds you could lose the mech and have your guy jump out. But a warforged artifcer in a mech suit sounds badass.

I had a similiar idea recently, my goblin artificer has a tome of golem creation and my dm allows guns. I figured to go more towards battlemechs double repeating crossbows a small ballista and a cannon would be its weapons. And if i get it the grogu sized goblin will be looking down on the dragonborn

I enjoy buying Wizkids iron golem miniatures and painting them in Gundam color palates. To find a reason to use them, I've been working on a magic-powered mech suit that can fight melee, upcast the pilot's spells, and use scrolls preloaded into missile launcher-style scroll tubes.

@@dndbuilds I understand and Appreciate your time, I made him with the idea of big breath damage from dragon born and dragon monk for elements on punches, splash of rune knight for large, also with unearthed arcana giant barb. You can get large or huge with elemental weapons and the ability to pick up smaller targets and move them around like a dragon. That was my idea and I think dragon monk really works for dragon slayers, that plus dragonborn. I look forward to seeing more of your builds and would love to share mine with others as well.

Animate objects, as you told us here, is literally the funnels some advanced gundams have. To be fair, the first time I tried to simulate an Artificer Build in Aurora I tried to make a Battlemech, this one is closer to one compared with mine and cooler (pun intended).

I remember in that campaign rolling a nat 20 on Arcana and a nat 20 on deception to purposely give the Rogue the wrong info because I was tired being the only one they come to for science stuff. They can come to him for other things

Minor correction: Generally, they are called Mobile Suits, not Gundams. Gundams are a specific type of Mobile Suit (often styled after Japanese samurai armor in some way or another).

I did actually make Samus both zero suit and not zero suit, it is a slightly older video so the quality might not be quite as good but the build should still hold up. Although I do plan to make the belmonts from Castlevania

Magic item adept is more then a little faster in my opinion, first when you make an item magical or not it halves the cost of making it, now if the magic item is uncommon you half that cost again meaning your cost is 1/4 what it was originally, then the time says the time is 1/4 of the time it originally was but time when crafting is determined by cost in 5e. It’s 25 GP per 8 hours worked on a magic item so to determine how fast it goes your 25GP goes up to 100GP per 8 hours rest. Now if your DM determined that a magic item would’ve costed 1200GP base then the construction time would’ve been 24 days, after the reductions to cost and time it would’ve taken you 3 days to construct that magic item.

Yeah that always throws me off too, as to which classes have automatic spells included with subclasses and which you have to prepare. It's always a thing I wind up double checking a bunch, and still get it wrong half the time.

Measurements of Atlantis may be off, but the ratios should be correct. Ie. miles are different than kilometers, but if ratio’s are close then that would be great indicator that the measurement was lost in translation. Just like years will be close because they are close whether lunar or solar. Years should be accurate. Oral tradition should have kept an accurate ratio.

@@dndbuilds Shining Finger is not a Newtype ability. It is an ability of that Gundam. New types are psychics who can see into the future while in their mecha for a short period of time, basically granting defensive bonuses. Forcently not all Gundam universes have this, so your good.

Man doesn't even mention Arcane Propulsion arm. Besides this is Gundam, why not go MS Gundam and use a Mace/Flail. Also Mind Sliver is most certainly a great choice as an Infusion. Players will want to ensure they pass Concentration checks to maintain the Enlarge.

I'd take Arcane Propulsion Arm over Gauntlets of Ogre power. It basically makes the special launching Rocket fist from many Giant Robot anime. In particular Giant Robo.

No problem. I made the comment so people could come along and be like "What's this?" and look it up. Also I mixed up the name of Mind Sharpener(*auto succeeds Concentration checks) and Mind Sliver. (Mind sliver is a cantrip.) @@dndbuilds In addition when going for a Booming blade build. Consider Repulsion shield. It forces an enemy back 15ft, so an enemy can't multi-attack you without moving back adjacent triggering the booming blade. It's lv6, and get's a lot of mileage as that's the sweet spot for gameplay. For the build you suggest that dumps STR score. Armor of Magical Strength is a must so DM's can't grapple, push to prone to fish for crits against the characters High AC. I also realized why you didn't mention the propulsion arm. It's added to the Powered Armor infusion. Which is just straight better. I could have swore it was lower level, but nope check my Eberron last war the Arm is lv14 as well.

I've played as an Artificer, using INT for grapple checks with Armor of Magical Strength is pretty awesome. Obviously swap it out for a STR item. Mileage of infusions really does vary with what a DM gives the players as Magical items. Like Enhance Armor, or Weapon can be skipped if the DM gives out magic loot.

@@StarAllKungfu yeah I've definitely been in a few campaigns where magic items are very limited. So an Artificer would totally break it, at one point the DM gave me a plus one whip, and it was the first magic weapon I had gotten in eight levels, and I used that thing non-stop.

Gundam is probably one if the worst franchises to fit into D&D. There are a lot of fantasy mecha anime on the other hand, and as usual there's both the super robot flavour and the real robot one.

I don’t know if it’s possible because I’ve been scourging what feels like the end of the universe to find a “Getter Robo” build. It’s essentially a giant robot that’s made of 3 ships. Depending on which ship is on the head, it can be one of 3 forms. Any advice?
