They struck the delicate balance of humanizing Rupert without redeeming him.

Jamie wearing the 24 jersey with England as a tribute to Sam is one of the subtle things i love the most about his character arc

Nick Mohammed actually played the violin, and his wife was playing the piano. He actually went to uni for the violin. The two Canadian announcers were Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie, both famous from Whose Line Is It Anyway?

I didn't catch the announcers before, and I've watched the series twice! Now I got go back and watch this episode again.

The sparkling water call back is from the end of season one when he tells her 'we win the whole f**ing thing'
@kathyastrom1315Ай бұрын
So much great stuff here! I loved Jamie using 24 for his England number to honor Sam, and Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles as the Canadian commentators are hilarious. Roy’s Uncle Day party is just wonderful, from the pure love Phoebe has for him and he for her (enough to accept and wear that t-shirt) to Roy and Jamie being forced to recognize their friendship. Btw, it looks to me like Jamie’s giggle over Roy threatening him was Phil Dunster breaking character, but they kept it in because it was so natural. My favorite part is Nate’s violin over Rebecca’s impassioned speech. I love how Hannah Waddingham delivered that opening-“Is this a f***ing joke? What do you think you’re doing? Just stop it!!” (Nice call back to Trent in the pilot with that first line.) Online fandom has speculated that Rupert asked her to come specifically to put a halt to the league, which is why he reminded her about sneaking into the game. He might be a piece of sh*t, but he is passionate about two things-football and women. Using the latter to save the former is exactly the kind of thing he would do, especially since having her take care of the speech making means that his neck isn’t on the line.

Jamie honoring his teammate is such a PERFECT capstone for his growth. Taking a moment that should have been his shining moment and instead highlighting his teammate who was unfairly passed over. The selfishness is GONE.

Yeah, Nate's dad saying "I don't know how to deal with a genius" was the start of the great close to the season.

I’ve watched the whole show several times now, and still enjoy seeing you react to it. It amuses me when you make predictions about what you think will happen. Sometimes you are spot on but it’s funnier to me when you’re miles from the mark. I like your sometimes convoluted theories, but the main thing is enjoying how much you are loving Ted and the gang.

FYI, Trent is wearing a Central Catholic t-shirt under his blazer--Central Catholic high school is in Pittsburgh and it is where Dan Marino attended high school. It is within walking distance of the University of Pittsburgh, where Marino (and Mike Ditka and Tony Dorsett and others attended).

I definitely understand your confusion on how things can be wrapped up in two episodes, but notice the length of those two episodes.

Yeah the show sort of screwed itself over with the pro queers and anti capitalist propaganda bullshit.

Missed this on my 1st watch but the guy staring at Roy in the hallway is former US player Jimmy Conrad. He played for Kansas City so that's probably the Jason Sudeikis connection

I've been so eager for you both to watch this episode after all the Super League plotting in the past several years. I guess none of that mattered to you. LOL Anyway, I think you missed a number of callbacks. Rupert's last assistant was Miss Cake and this new one is Miss Bread. You were talking and missed Nate leaving Nelson Road through the secret back door. At the end of season one finale Ted spit fizzy water all over Rebecca. Those are just a few callbacks that come to mind.

This show is too wholesome for a couple of grizzled Anglos. You should react to the "The Bear" next.

@darkhelmett9541Ай бұрын
The Sassy closure mostly came when Ted asked her out on a real date and she called him a mess. And the fathers and sons theme rings strong in this episode for Nate. That entire speech between him and his dad is a deep look into who he is. That whole exchange, you can almost physically see the emotional weight lifting from Nate.

We are definitely in the downhill, speeding towards the finishline.

Getting so close to the end 😢 Less Ted but lots of fun. Rani Dojas ! Like Led Tasso. It was Nick Mohammed playing the violin and the piano you hear is his wife IRL.

Keeley tells Jamie that sometimes you get sex when you’re not trying to get sex. The helping her Polish family screw in light bulbs kills me every time. Rupert did not intend on quashing the super league no matter what anyone says. I could elaborate but I won’t. Nick Mohammad is wicked smart. He can memorize the order of a deck of cards in seconds. He demonstrated it on some British talk show. Also, your late posting threw off my whole afternoon… I’ll be ok.

You're past the point where my Apple account was stolen so I can no longer watch with. But wanted to still give the comment and the like to support the channel because your reactions up till this point have been highly entertaining. Maybe someday I will trust Apple enough with my info to resub but it certainly isn't happening before Season 4 is aired in its entirety. I'll edit this then.

I hate International breaks in MLS. One week a couple years ago, my Sounders were missing 12 players for at least 2 league games!. Playing in summer is tough.

Love Rebecca's speech to the other owners. And FJF.
12:30 The combination of Nate playing violin and Rebecca absolutely crushing these geezers was brilliant and beautiful.🥲 From start to finish, this show is immeasurably better than it had any right to be, given the premise. It immediately went into my All-Time Top 10.

Mexican players are known to be fanatical about representing their country. The Mexican fans are just as fanatical. The moment you were playing for El Tri (Mexican national team) you are now the enemy lol. I think that's the joke behind Danny's switch
