To me, it's a function over form issue. Meaning if they work and I have a good view, then I leave them on. Great topic!

I like you, wasn't going to put bar ends on my Gsxs. I decided that the bike isn't a cafe racer but I was wrong. I bought a cheap set off ebay. CNC I think is the brand. & i love em. Visibility is much better & they make the bike look more aggressive, completely change the look of it.

I have the bar end mirrors on my Royal Enfield Classic 350. Though they’re just round mirrors I find I can see behind me very clearly without my shoulders and elbows getting in the way, as they would with the standard mirrors. 👍

Not much chop for me Mr TPR as I’m lane splitting down South rd as you know. HC trucks,cement trucks , reluctant cagers on their phones ( understandable in those conditions) puttering along to get from A to B, stressed to the max. I’ll stay with the OEM and keep my eyes looking forward and my money in my pocket.

Same for me, lane splitting amongst all the local traffic! The standard OEM Handlebar Mirrors on my Honda Rebel do the job wonderfully, and show everything behind me! ....😊....😊....!

Totally agree, they are wider and if I was a commuter they wouldn’t work for me, however most of my riding is rural so not such an issue for me. Thank you for your input, always appreciated 😎

@@paulfosbery6026 You have a excellent motorbike mate. Rode fifty thousand kms on my brand new 2017 model. 471cc 47 horsepower, easily does highway speeds with a lot more to offer. Interstate tours no problem.

I'm not a fan of them myself but it's personal taste. Some bikes look better with them than standard and some the other way around. I like having my mirrors higher up. It does baffle me when people put them below the bars though.

I prefer fairing mounted mirrors as opposed to handle bar mirrors. Only have to move your eyes instead of your head. Like having fender mirrors on a car. Also an alternative to bar ends are mirror extensions they give you an extra inch.

The only thing I really don't like about barend mirrors, is that they makes the bike wider like you stated, so filtering/lanesplitting in traffic is tighter, and sometimes stops me getting through gaps. I guess not an issue in countries that you are not allowed to filter though. I have them on my Moto Guzzi V7 normally, on that they are the tiny round ones, I really like them, but had to remove them to allow me to get the bike between my two sheds as they made the bike too wide. I think you get cleaner air around you on a bike with them vs the ones on stalks, so it can make for a less turbulant ride as a bonus. The Gorilla Biker has an awesome channel, top bloke too! 🙂

I really am surprised at how much I like them, we are allowed to filter here, but I rarely ride in the city so I don't mind turning them in out of the way occasionally. If I was a commuter , I would probably opt for the stock ones. 😎

The bar end mirrors that come stock on my Speed Triple works great imo, and I live in the country not much filtering here 😁Yours seem to work great!

Before I get to the subject matter that was a lovely looking old Jag or Daimler at 3.58 and did that car that was fast approaching in the bar end mirror pass you? Looked like he was going for it at 7.15. Just to show I was paying attention you know. 👍 I can see you made good points for them and glad you pointed out the possible filtering issues. I would also add that I feel you would have to look down to them rather than be there in line of sight so to speak. Do you find your wrists or arms get in the way of them? I have never tried them and have always stuck with the stock ones. If they work for you then great but I'm not a fan of them. Enjoyed the video and nice to see you'd had a bit of rain down there too. Ride safe fella.

Yes that was a Jag I think and that car was coming up on me very fast, it passed me as I turned off. Very aggressive driving. You are very observant my friend, excellent work ! I do have to look down a fraction but the I get a better view from them than the stock ones. My arms aren't an issue, they were more of a problem with the stock ones . 😎

@@MRTPR I can only conclude that you have funny arms. Good to be observant as a rider. Funnily enough I must always have been observant I was noted as having outstanding observations during my lorry training in remembering the make and colour of vehicles that were being discussed at the end of each days debriefing sessions. Pity I did not see the car I recently flattened though, it was parked up, as the back of the truck crushed it. 🤦‍♂🤷‍♂🤣🤣

@@MRTPR No no one in it. Nigeran man's wife's car he borrowed to get to work and parked it on a junction in a very tight spot. It had a happy ending though as I met the man a couple of months later and as I excepted full responsibility he now had a much better, newer and bigger car. He was very happy.

Good video mate. Never tried bar ends. Have used many different mirrors. I love my Mickey Mouse mirrors more than any others I've tried/had. But since I've not tried bar ends, don't know if I'd like 'em better, or not......🤔

Hello. Bar end mirrors give a cleaner look to the upper part of the motorcycle. No windshield, no mirrors. That's cool! ! :D I'm worried that the width of the motorcycle will be a little wider. Japanese roads are narrow. LOL. Thank you my friend.

Love the look of bar end mirrors. I have experimented with some cheap ones and found that for me the width has to be at least about 8cm. Either round or leaf shape. However at the small end if the mirror is not convex I find them useless because I have to look at them too long to make sense of the small field of view.

Generally looks wise I'm not enamoured with bar end mirrors, although I have to agree with you that those mirrors on your bike do make it look a bit more aggressive. I guess I've just become so used to Mickey mouse style mirrors since way back that anything else looks odd. Many people of coarse detest Mickey mouse mirrors, so it's a bit of a Marmite subject. Since before buying my ZZR 1400 a bike on which bar ends just wouldn't work. I've been seriously considering a Harley Davidson Fat Bob, now that's a bike that any other sort of mirror would detract from its mean looking front end.

The only downside I see to bar ends is the increased width for lane filtering - but where you were riding it’s a non-issue!

Instead of mirrors why not a rear facing camera attached to a small monitor up front. My friends got this set up on his bike and it also captures all unwanted incidents behind him stored on SD cards

@@MRTPR Thanks for the response. Enormous pressure at work I can understand as I've just lost all my work after hauling for same firm for 30+ years they rang and gave us 9 days notice of closure. So local firm heard of this and contacted me to do holiday relief driving on their 32 ton tippers, which was really good of them but have had to get used to minimum of 12 hour shifts, which I have not done regularly for years! Although the freedom of not having to worry about the truck is a big plus and I'm really enjoying the diversity of the work and working in a different part of the country. All the best.
