Thanks, it helped me understand some things better about boosts. I use my tube screamer clone often as a boost, and as an underdrive paradoxically to get better control of a nice and dirty fuzz pedal.

Hi Joe! Very nice video!! Which pedal do you prefer to have a slight distortion in a clean amp: Caffeine or Vixen? Which is more sensitive, flexible or simply which tone do you prefer between these two?

Ooh...I think into a clean amp I'd go for Caffeine, as the breakup is lovely; into a dirty amp, the high-pass filter of Vixen is great for really getting the low end where you want it. So of course...both :P heh

Yeah I still don't really get the point of a boost pedal over say an eq pedal? The only use I can think outside of as a quick fix to another pedal with a bad noise drop problem, or perhaps maybe if it has a really nice sounding transformer (assuming its got one at all) to add a little color/ saturation, but you could probably still get super close if not dead on most of those tones with a good eq anyways.

It all depends on the exact pedals, but boosts often have a lot more output than EQ pedals to push amps harder - and dirty boosts will add gain as well as level. But you can definitely do a lot of these tricks with EQ too.
