Do British Veterans Regret Fighting World War 2?

The idea that fighting World War 2 was a good thing is immediately taken for granted and if you dare oppose that narrative then you are viewed as some kind of evil extremist. This applies to generation after generation. The veterans themselves, however, are seemingly never asked. What does that brave generation of the war years really think? They blindly sacrificed everything for Britain in what they at the time believed to be a just cause. Do they still believe this? Do they regret it? Let's cut through the post-war propaganda and hear the views of the men themselves. Their generation, at the very least, tells it how they see it.

I feel really sorry for these veterans when I watch this video but to be quite honest they are the ones who sat back and let all this happen, they took up arms to fight the Germans but there wasn't really large scale protests against immigration. They also completely failed to raise the next generation who they complain so much about for being rude and lazy. As much sympathy as I have for them they aren't innocent in all of this, for the last 8 years I've actually felt like the destruction of our society since the war may well be a punishment from God for the crimes our country committed against Germany during the war.

The British Museum was hit several times during the war, with the worst incident being in May 1941, when 240,000 books in the museum library were damaged or destroyed by fire and water damage. Also hit was a satellite collection in Colindale, which destroyed 6,000 volumes of English and Irish newspapers.[15] The Palace of Westminster also suffered several hits during the war, with the most serious being on 10/11 May 1941. An incendiary bomb came through the roof, and firefighters had to decide whether to save the House of Commons chamber or the ancient Westminster Hall. They concentrated on the hall. While no-one was hurt, the chamber was unusable, and so for the rest of the war the House of Commons met in other locations such as the House of Lords Chamber, the Robing Room, or Church House near Westminster Abbey. The House of Commons was repaired in 1950.[79] The Abbey itself was also hit that night, with the bulk of the damage done to its surrounding buildings such as the Deanery and Westminster School Hall.[80] Buckingham Palace was struck at least nine times during the war, with the most damage being caused on 13 September 1940. Winston Churchill and the Queen were inside at the time and saw two of the bombs falling outside their window. One of the bombs destroyed the palace's chapel, which was rebuilt as the Queen's Gallery. The heaviest-hit areas of London often tended to be where working-class people lived, as they were next to militarily useful targets like docks and factories, and in the aftermath of the Buckingham Palace bombing, the Queen said, "Now I can look the East End in the face."[81]

My grandad (the man in my picture) who was in Burma in WW2, used to turn the TV off when Trevor McDonald came on the news. He was disgusted with the state of our country in the late 90s. My late grandfather fought in North Africa, Italy and Northwest Europe as a front line tank soldier. He died in the mid 1980's. At the time of the Brexit referendum, on hearing that I intended to vote leave, my mother said 'your grandfather fought for a united Europe'. I chastised her and told her that she couldn't possibly know what his opinion would have been and that to put words in his mouth and attempt to elicit feelings of guilt in me by using his memory was disingenuous, given that he'd been dead for over thirty years. I voted with my conscience but her words stayed with me. When I heard about this book, I bought a copy and have been gradually working my way through it and will say this, if my grandfather, a humble Christian working class man, would have supported Britain and Europe becoming the places that they have, with the dilution and erosion of values and culture, a federalisation of the continent under a dictatorial and faceless centralised bureaucracy, the abolition of borders and the resultant unfettered immigration and lawlessness, he would have stood out as an outlier among his comrades. When I finish reading the book, I may pass it on to my mother, although I doubt that she'll read it, preferring instead to live on in the happy delusions that comfort her and the millions of others of the privileged and selfish baby boomer generation who took the country that heroes had provided for them and through incompetence and arrogance, destroyed it for their successors.

I'll share a personal story: my grandfather was a veteran of the South Pacific. He died fairly young (in his 60s), likely due to his smoking and alcoholism (which was probably how he coped with the trauma of the war), so I never met him. My sister, his granddaughter, now identifies as non-binary and asexual and flips out when anyone uses her real name. I believe my grandfather, if he were alive today, would be in the camp of "it wasn't worth it"

You do understand that it's because a lot of Muslims get called Muhammed, while many English, Welsh, Scottish etc have more unique names? For example, if you had 100 Muslims, I'd guess a lot of them would have Muhammed as their first name, while British names would most likely be more unique, like John, Jack, Callum, Hamish, Brian, Arthur, William, Lewis, Liam, Cameron, Paul, and Harry just to name a few. While Muslims keep to the same names, for example, Muhammed, Omar, Ali and Ibrahim. Muslims aren't very creative with boy names or names in general. So Muhammed being the most popular name in Britain doesn't really mean anything other than it proves Muslims keep to the same names while Brits have more unique names.

@@davidmccann9811 Italians split on the KING and BADOGLIO cheating the axis and siding with allies, gifting almost our entire fleet to ex enemies and escaping leaving the country and the army at their own derstiny, and immidiately after we descended into a tragic civil war. There has been a LOT of Italians who preferred dying instead of following a cheater King who had no divine authorithy left for this soooo shallow behaviour, not royal at ALL. We took the guns shouting FOR HONOUR in the darkest hour our country had faced in centuries, in that hour when not even our king had any honourability left and the country was full of criminals communists spoiling the chaos to steal and commit all kind of atrocities against militaries and civilians. I don't want to bore you, but I found that statement offensive to those who literally sacrificed them selves not only soldiers, civilians defended till last stand the roof of Florence somebody as young as 14 someone older than 70. Those who saluted execution shouting LONG LIVE ITALY LONG LIVE MUSSOLINI (even kids under 18) All those sacrificing themselves generously and selflessly on our eastern border in Dalmatia and Istria and in fact in those land we had an Italian genocide by Yugoslavs and cummunists, those guys died in the same places their fathers fought and died in ww1. All these beautiful humanity we have sacrificed in that bloody war, they never changed side, it is hard to stay this true to values even when your country had capitulated. I ll close it with a famous quote from Junio Valerio Borghese, gold medal given not to the memory, someone who had steel balls. "In every war, the underlying question is not so much about winning or losing, living or dying; but how you win, how you lose, how you live, how you die. A war can be lost, but with dignity and loyalty. Surrender and betrayal brand a people before the world for centuries." GLORY TO THESE BRAVE HEROES! My grandad had a huge family and kept having kids until late in life. His youngest son, my father, was born in '45. Grandpa was born in 1896 which means he fought in WW ONE! Some of my folks were in WWII but most were not due to age. I revered them, honored them and still do. YOU should NEVER feel poorly for your granddad.... EVER! Do you understand me? I'm serious.... NEVER feel badly nor made to be remorseful for his sacrifice! While I respect my people for doing their duty, I am HORRIBLY conflicted because I've learned that what we were all taught as children about that war has turned out to be mostly FALSE, particularly the reasons for it starting in the first place. If anything, I feel terrible remorse for people like YOUR grandfather. IT hurts even more because now I know HE was right! It isn't my place to say so but I do wish I could apologize to all those souls... not on behalf of my own people but on behalf of humanity itself. We allowed SATAN himself to instigate that war and he vehemently lied about it and we blindly believed those lies came from the mouths of angels.

My father fought from Dunkirk to the end of the war. My mother served in the ATS until the end of the war. My father was badly wounded. This small hatted monstrosity of a country, means tested him right to his death. He required a stair lift fitting to go to the bathroom and was refused twice. A week after his death, a letter came to say he had been awarded it. My mother died 7 years ago bed bound in her own home with me taking on her care. All the sick, twisted money grabbers wanted was to put her in care and take her home. Both my parents were like many of the contributors to the book, thinking people, not "educated" like today's people but they had a grace and civility and clear thinking minds that realised they and their generation had been duped by the oldest deceivers in existence. I was once very proud and patriotic but now I see the country is completely finished. I am in a way glad that they and many of the books contributors never got to see the vile, disgusting, cesspit of a country it's now become, and I shed a silent tear for those who are alive and witnessing it now. Keep up the good work telling the truth as a certain decepticon owned war criminal once said "the truth is no defence" but the truth must be told. Thank you for getting it out there.
