I have lived in Northwest Arkansas all my life, about 20 years ago a nice older couple asked me for directions During our conversation they told me that they had just moved to the area from California. They were so happy to be away from all of the crowded cities and over regulation, in the same breath they said “but there really need to be some laws about the old junk cars and equipment that were on a nearby farm” I looked at them and politely stated that that if they wanted that to happen then they should probably move back to California. I pointed out that we were in a rural area and some of that “junk” might actually be operable and used daily (my farm truck runs just fine but it looks pretty bad because of my cattle) If you are from California and moving to another state you need to leave California ideas in California

I'm all for people moving to another place to seek a better life but NOT ok with them getting here and then wanting ID to change. ID has already become a little CA because of the BIG CITY mentality and DemoBrat leaning politics. The most vocal complaint, even more than the impossibly sardine-like, multi-family housing tracts going up everywhere, is the FACT that MOST moving here don't like the Idaho way of life, and have CHANGED our beautiful area into another BIG CITY operation, lowering our childrens' chances of affording their own homes here in THEIR home state and instilling more restrictions and fees on Idahoans. After living in Portland, OR for 4 years and watching CA people move in I can already tell you that the good things that people in Idaho are used to will get eroded. Here's what you'll start to notice. 1. traffic (with highly aggressive drivers) 2. the places you used to go now have way to many people so you stop going to them. 3. housing prices will go up exponentially. 4. you will start to look elsewhere to escape them because they tend to move in and impose their ways. Looks like someone left me a nasty gram reply a couple days ago but it got deleted. Mel L, if you’re listening, no, I’m not part of the problem. I was born and raised here and have been involved as much as I possibly can in local politics and follow a multitude of court cases. Unfortunately I’m only one man, and all of my efforts are fruitless. I agree with your sentiment though, I used to, and still do encourage people to stay and fight instead of just running to a different state just to escape the politics. However, that is not why I am moving. I’ve been fighting this liberal disease literally all my life on the internet, in local council meetings and open forums and recently, even on the street. Believe me, I’m not running from anything. But, I have a family now, 3 young kids, and I need to focus on their upbringing now so that they will grow up in an environment that helps them to grow up with the same values I’ve been fighting for my whole life, and not in the toxic environment we are in now. So, while I agree with you in a general way, maybe tone down the anger a bit. You don’t know everyone’s situation.

Boise doesn’t want to become California. It wasn’t really noticeable at first, it was nice that Boise was finally relevant but now it’s scary. The price of homes significantly have increased, there is more traffic/accidents. Californians should know Boise is not used to change this fast. Am I an Idahoan or am a Californian? I was born at St Al’s in 59, but when I was 4 my dad went back into the Navy after my sister was born. When my older brother finished the first grade we packed up and moved to San Diego. As I went through school in various cities in CA from San Diego to the Bay Area and then back down to the LA area, when my dad was transferred to a ship home-ported in Long Beach. I started and finished high school in the same school. About 10 days later I was on my way to boot camp at MCRD in San Diego. I spent 6 years in the Marine Corps then 6 ½ years in the Navy, in 82 I was medically discharged from the Navy and came home to Idaho for good. So am I or ain’t I an Idahoan.

Its sad really...we have a bad californian problem in Nashville. There are more californians than native Nasvhillians. They raise house prices, they change the culture, they change the politics, they change the values. We live here because of our conservative values and they come here, hold protests and scream words of hate toward our "intolerance" and we are supposed to accept it. I've seen sooo many natives get displaced from their homes in Nashville and move 30 miles out just to maintain. We visited Boise recently with hopes of moving and saw this amazing landscape and almost emotional beauty just to then run into the hoards of Californians downtown talking bad about the locals. I was born in Spokane but grew up in California. The state is a miserable failure and the majority of voters seem to vote for the kind of crap that is making it miserable. I am one who has considered relocating to Idaho. But, there is a problem with the areas which are nice, scenic and hospitable, they draw in all of the left-leaning whacko liberals that were drawn to beautiful places like the Bay Area, Big Sur and Monterey Bay. There are places in Boise that, when I'd drive through, I couldn't tell if I was in Boise or Los Angeles anymore. They came in and raised housing prices so high that you can't afford to live anymore, not to mention the implants like to throw around that they're from California and they didn't do things there how we do things in Boise. So I said screw it, sold my house to some of them and moved 2000 miles away to a place that I can afford. No traffic here, you can rent a 3 bedroom house for under $600 a month and people actually understand what being neighborly means.

I'm from California and I've been thinking about moving to Idaho since I was 14. My family has lived near LA for over 100 years, and it's just too darn liberal and full of transplants. Rich people from mainland China have rapidly moved in, and now form the vast majority where I live, and have driven up property values insanely. For that reason, I understand how Boise natives, and Idahoans, are feeling. My aunt was born in McCall and grew up in Boise during the 60s. She is sick of Californians, and others, moving in. I can't blame her, I don't want too many Californians moving in either. Most Californians aren't even Californians, they are recent arrivals, that's why the state has become so darn liberal in the past 30 years. It used to actually lean conservative as recently as the 80s. Anyways, I want to move to Idaho but I don't want to be part of a trend pissing off the locals. The last time I visited, I was told to say that I was from south of Meridian. I don't want to leave a place where my family has such deep roots either, but heck, half the people here think that I'm from out of state since I'm White and not insanely liberal. Also, the guy from Eden saying that they need more diversity, yeah that seems really shortsighted to me. They need to preserve local culture. Heck, people are leaving California because it has lost it's culture, diversity is not the solution to everything. P.S. I have never voted for a Democrat, except when there were only Democrats on the ballot.

I’m seeing them come to Northwest Indiana in droves. So, recently, I was reading a letter to the editor of an Indiana paper. The letter was from a woman who had moved from IL due to the crazy taxation that state is collecting. She bemoaned all the taxes in the first part of her latter. I once was told that dairy farmers from California were relocating to Idaho; this was in 1997 when I was living in Jackpot, Nevada it’s a small casino town about 50 miles from Twin Falls, Idaho.

Glad to know I'm educated enough and make enough money that I won't ever have to step foot in Idaho for one day. What are they known for producing anyway? Potatoes? I'm a 5th generation so ca native. I consider myself pretty conservative. I've seen ca change considerably, especially in the last 2 decades, but I still love it. I'm located where the beach, desert & mountains are all within 1 hour away - don't know of any other state that has that. I visited Idaho once, about 25 years ago with my husband and 1-year-old son. Just a week-long family vacation. Lots of beautiful places, but some of the most unfriendly almost "cultish" group of strange people I've ever encountered & I've travelled plenty. My son who is super healthy & never been sick except in Idaho - caught some ungodly cough that kept getting progressively worse. We brought him to an ER and both the lack of a modern medical facility in Boise coupled with the complete moronic handling of our son helped us decide to never again step foot into the place. People are flocking to Idaho because they can't afford to live in ca. In order to survive here & live in a sense of comfort you need to possess 3 traits: A true willingness to work/hustle, resourcefulness and kindness. Kindness goes a long way in surviving. These comments from "Idahoians" are full of hate, mixed with a bit of jealousy - it's obvious they could never survive here. True Californians are welcoming, hard-working & givers.

Let's all as Idahoans admit that a lot of Californians underestimate the wild life here bad end of dying or hurt making them want to leave or stay. When winter comes calling they start leaving.
