Do Cats Really Miss Us When We Leave the House?

2 years ago, I adopted a senior gentleman from a local shelter. He ended up there because his owner passed away. I have noted that, whenever I take a shower or change my clothes, he becomes very perturbed and often will talk to me. I believe that this is because his last owner went away and never came back, and he could not understand why. Whenever I go out, like many of us, I tell him I'm going out for a while but I will always come back.

My kitty strongly objects to me leaving for work in the morning-he will meow and get underfoot and cling to me like a toddler clinging to mommy and jump up at my hand with his claws out when I reach for the door handle. He also greets me with a Hobbes tackle when I get home, climbing up my leg like I'm a cat tree and expecting "big hug". I find it hard to believe he doesn't miss me when I'm away for the 10 hours in between.

Mine objects when we say, "I'm leaving", then grabs her security "woobie" + walks around whining "her-ro?" until we get back. She knows over 20 words/ commands-"jump, sit, stay, come, up, down, out, treat, dinner, water, flop cat, scratch, etc.

One of my cats knows EXACTLY 5 pm. If I have an afternoon nap I get a gentle paw to the face starting at 4:45, which gets harder until the claws appear at 5!

When the time change happens. Do you feed at the now right time on the clock or do you (on a fall back) and feed them an hour earlier? My two baby’s hated the time change cause they knew what time it was. They just getting used to now

When our late Benji was little, he used to get unsettled when all three of us weren't at home. He didn't want one, he didn't want two, he wanted three of us at home! He didn't care who was absent. He grew out of it as he got older. But he still liked our presence. I remember once I was getting into the driver's seat of the car, I looked over at Benji who was on the verge to the left of the car, he was looking back at me with a dirty look as if to say, "Where do you think _you're_ going?"

I know exactly what my cat does if i'm gone for a couple of hours, she sits at the window and waits. She hops up there as I'm leaving and is usually still there when I get back. Then we go through the greeting, sniff any strange objects and demand treats routine.

Cats miss us. My torty cat (owner) scolds me for getting up to go to the bathroom! If I leave the house to go shopping, she clings to me as soon as I sit down. I was in hospital for four days and when I got out, I was her main bed for weeks. She is now hopelessly lap-addicted, to only my lap. She doesn't sit on my sister's lap. She got viciously jealous (hissing, avoiding me) when I helped my housemate's black cat cross to the Other Side (on my lap, warm, quiet, gentle petting... she went out purring in her sleep: I'm a witch, I can do things like this). She still checks to see if there's another cat to compete for lap time, now, six months later. Whiskers is still around. Someone told me torty cats are psycho. Maybe. Psychic? Almost certainly.

when i go out the door (even if my wife is home), he's on his condo by the door. when i get into the car, he gets in the bay window and watches me. when i get home he gets up and leaves the window, and is waiting for me at the front door when i unlock and enter. yes, he misses me. and if my wife and i both leave, he constantly cries when we return. it's actually terrible for him, i believe. also: older fans of Cole and Marmalade know the heartrending sounds they made when left alone for the day.

Google traduction est toujours aussi nul pour traduire vers des formes passives en français : si je retraduis in english le titre que Google m'a traduit lamentablement en français sans me demander mon avis, ça donne "Do we really miss out cat when we leave the house" , alors que j'imagine bien que le titre initial (le crétin qui a décidé que KZbin m'imposerait a priori ses traductions pourries m'empêche d'en avoir la certitude) doit plutôt être "do cats really miss us when..." C'est traduit par des fact-checkers ou bien ? Parce qu'on est au même stade de respect du réel, en tout cas. IA ou cancer de la conscience du réel ?
