Do College Students Hate Free Speech? Let's Ask Them.

The faculty council at Occidental College is considering instituting a system for students to report microaggressions perpetrated against them by faculty members or other students.
Reason TV visited Occidental's campus to find out what exactly constitutes a microaggression. One Columbia psychology professor defined the term this way:
Microaggressions are the everyday verbal, nonverbal, and environmental slights, snubs, or insults, whether intentional or unintentional, which communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative messages to target persons based solely upon their marginalized group membership.
After exploring the limitations of a microaggression reporting system, we discussed broader free speech issues with the students in the wake of a month of campus protests that resulted in the resignations of several faculty members and a university president.
Most of the students defended free speech in principle, if not always in practice. This is consistent with a recent Pew Research Center survey, which found that although 95 percent of Americans agree that people should be allowed to publicly criticize government policies, support erodes when the question turns to offensive speech. While a majority of millennials still believe that the government should protect speech offensive to minorities, a whopping 40 percent believe the government should restric such speech.
"If you say 'You're less of a person because you're Muslim/Jewish/Christian/Catholic... that's not okay. That's a hate crime," one student told us.
Another student argued that the government should curtail the speech of Donald Trump, while a protest organizer told us that free speech is a rhetorical device used by the priveleged against the oppressed.

Professors didnt really teach much they just said do a 10 page paper on "You pick a subject close to this class" and there is the library. 2nd Semester in, I learned how to do 1 paper for 3 class... LOL "The Physiological Affects of Altitude on the Human Body." It cover my Military History class because of the High Altitude that the Air Forces were operating at.... It does seem like a lot of moderate democrats are able to rationalize the obscenities in the media, the unconstitutional policies the left promote, and will do enough research to learn Trump has been far better for Americans than any democrat president. But there are people out there who differ in opinion whom concern me, for example here's an anecdotal example: I'm 25 and have a close friend who's in his 50's, he's a nice, intelligent and a generous guy but the word "republican" or "Trump" will literally drive him crazy. If their personality matches the job. 200 people could be technically qualified to do the job, but you want the person that is going to come in on time, and not be annoying to be around, someone that gives off the vibe that they are actually willing to put in the hours and aren't just riding the momentum of the work they did to study all those years ago, someone that can be the a respectable face of the company. You also don't want someone too qualified because they are a threat to you, and/or you have to pay them more.

Wow, what has happened to society? These college students have been too protected... I don't think they are going to be able to cope very well with the pressures life when they get out into the workplace. When I was young kids were taught a little nursery rhyme that went like this; "Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me." It gave us something to say back at bullies. Then when we got older we learned to just ignore people who say hurtful things. I can't believe some people could be offended by someone saying "God bless you". Even if they don't believe in God they have to know that the person saying it was trying to say something they thought was good.
