That’s more of a Medellin thing. Not so much in the other cities. But one thing that’s common is women will get to asking and begging. “Can you give me money for ____.” It’s like a whole hustle to go on nice dates and ask for money from Gringos.

Never had issues paying for dates, I had a thing with a Colombian woman last year. We had visited Bogotá/medellin/periera to visit her family. Like 6 months into dating she tried getting me to buy us wedding rings and move in with her. WIth respect, myself and every gringo I met while in Colombia met at least one woman that tried to take advantage of us. I invited a woman out to coffee and she brought her friend without telling me. She and her friend ordered lots of food and dessert instead of the coffee that I invited only one of them out to get. They then invited ME out to dinner at a fancy restaurant, ordered very expensive food, and had me pay for everything including the taxi to both of their houses. I didn't try to have sex with them because I'm looking for a wife, so that wasn't even a thought. All of my guy friends experienced a similar situation of inviting one woman out then she invited her friends and expected the gringo to pay. I think you guys refer to that as the "Marrano." I known not all Colombians are like that though, so I just made sure to only associate with the Colombianas that weren't viewing me as a Marrano. Last but not least, I met these women in the gym, at Salsa class, and at Spanish School.

It all depends on the woman of course. Medellin is a dating jungle for gringos. Living there long term for a gringo is difficult in Medellin. Too many transactional expectations. The rules are different for foreigners than Colombian men. The Colombian men can do the menu del dia, for many Gringos the expectation is a provenza and a night on the town. The test is asking them on a cafe date the first date, watch how many will say yes, then flake. I would not recommend Medellin long term guys, go there, have fun and dip. Small towns may be better, they don’t have all that flash that the locals expect from Gringos, so perhaps finding genuine chicas can be more promising. I’m yet to find out.
