I'm HoH and have had this done many dozens of times - I’ve always enjoyed it My favorite part is (obviously) when my Audi injects the material - there's usually a bit of a pressure change not unlike the way a tympanometry feels... I also enjoy the waiting time as the material sets, the seal gets stronger, and I get a sense of what it would be like to be profoundly deaf. It is during this time that I tend to reflect in gratitude for the little hearing that I do have... Thanks for the video!

I like that you take the time to reflect as the material sets. I will try that next time I get my impressions done. I'm usually playing around with the excess material trying to make a cool shape out of it before it hardens! Is there a mold color you prefer?

Definite Hearing I’ve unfortunately never had the opportunity to pick colors... It’s always the same boring full shell earmold style... Apparently that’s the only option here in Israel.

I always love new ear molds! The stuff they put in the ear actually feels good, lol. I’m weird.

When the audiology did the ear impression for her left ear, it is fine for her. But my mum feel extremely pain when the audiology did it for her right eye. Finally my mum stood up with the pain and got her earring aid machine but she couldn’t wear the right one at all because it made her feel extremely painful. The audiology checked the ear for my mum, which was all good and no infection or something. We went back to the audiology and she redo the ear impression for my mum’s right ear but when she push the cotton into her eye, my mum already feel very pain and can’t complete the ear impression at all.

Pain is a signal something is wrong. If there is pain behind her eye when doing ear impressions I recommend visiting an eye doctor. I'm sad your mom is in pain and I hope the source can be found soon to fix it.

Only thing I can think of to add is that if you have any hearing at normal room noise levels, you won't while getting the impressions made. It's the most effective earplugs ever!

Hi Emily,I am just repeating most of what I said in an Instagram message to you! Being I am severely deaf the audiologist has to make sure the stuff they use goes deep in to the canal which can hurt! But it's needed to stop the feedback! As you can see from my profile pics the molds are quite bulky! But when the gunk is in both ears you realise what it would be like to be totally deaf as not a sound gets through! And you have that feeling for up to 10 mins while the pink gunk sets! You have to try & lip read! Once they come out you hear a tiny bit of sound before being allowed to put your hearing aids back in! It's scary when you can't hear a thing with the gunk in as that could be your life one day! Total silence! I then opt for soft silicone molds & for the first time in my life I was allowed coloured molds,here in the UK as we get them free you usually get what your given! It takes a couple of weeks before they fit them! I am so impressed with you Emily you could leave your hair down full time & hide your aids but you show them off every minute you can on here,it's given me more confidence to show mine off even after 25 + years so thank you 🤗🤗🤗

There’s barely any colour options for certain hearing aid brands like the phonak audeo paradise. I could only choose from skin colour, clear, bright blue for the left- bright red for the right :( I chose the bright blue and red

I'm so sad you didn't have other options you wanted! I hope to change that and help hearing aid manufacturers realize we want more colors. :)

Definite Hearing yeah, my audiologist thinks that the more colorful hearing aids or ear moles weren’t selling well and so they cut down on them. But I am satisfied with my earmolds though :) yours are gorgeous but I can’t really go with silicone because I don’t have severe enough hearing. I have normal to severe hearing

My ear doctor said they can’t do sparky molds 😞. I was really wanting sparkly this time because that’s what my first pair were but oh well

My new earmold hurts. What can I do? My previous 2 ear molds were the half size ones but this one is a full one and it seems to be exceptionally tight. Love your video.

Go back to your audiologist and have the mold remade. An ill-fitting mold is very uncomfortable.

Yes. You can wear them through security and on the plane. I usually turn mine off in the plane thought because the engines are sooooo loud

funny story from our audiologist. We were told that one time, some picked their school colors, and put it into a blend. colors were red, white, and grey. Apparently, when the mom went to go get them, she looked at them and said they needed to redo the colors... because it looked like raw hamburger!

Hahaha that is hilarious!! Moms and children usually have different opinions! My recommendation to that mom would be, if the child wants their raw hamburger looking molds, let them have it. They'll be wearing it, not you, and preventing them from wearing something they think looks cool lets a negative vibe set into wearing molds - I can promise that mom she wouldn't want any inklings of that.

I like how weird it feels but why do they try to talk to us at that time? 🤣 that’s ok I get even by using the little bit of sign language to answer them and hoped that I had lip read them properly. What color? Oh my I can’t even begin to guess. But it will be you!!

Yes!! Haha like the dentists try to talk to us when they're working on our teeth!Lip reading wise, yes I always wonder if I'm agreeing to something I don't want to haha! Color wise, they came back and they weren't quite right. Stay tuned!

I’m sorry that they weren’t the right color. No more lip reading because I don’t have X-ray vision. I’ll be glad to get rid of these masks reading people facial expressions is part of lip reading....can you see me smiling now?
