Bonnie hit on a great point. It is important for vendors and advisors to help set and manage expectations for companies going through a digital transformation. It is not a glamorous message to deliver, but it is fact that even the best implementations typically take a lot longer than vendors tell their customers. Why do vendors do this? Simple... they want the business. If they are honest, then the other vendors who are not so, ahem, honest about the expectations and reality of implementations get the business. It is a viscous cycle that has permeated the industry for decades.
