I will say just one thing... YES!!! I have GSX 1000 and it blows away any sort of standard sound card. One of the biggest upgrades I've done in a long time that makes such a huge difference in immersion.

I picked up the gsp 600 based on your review and I’m so damn happy with my purchase. I’ve been having some gaming suite problems but software aside the headphones themselves sound superb so thanks for the heads up. Also for fellow aussies, (I’ll edit this out if it’s not allowed) with my purchase at jb I was given a gsx 300 for free. Bargain!

I really want to invest in some quality headphones, but know I need something to drive them. Gonna do a PC upgrade next year and feel like I've been neglecting the audio part of PC gaming. Also never go wrong with Sennheiser.

Those do look nice. I was thinking about an external soundcard but went with an internal one instead. Desk space and all that... But since I have volume control on my keyboard I am fine with having no premium dial on my desk to fiddle with :)

First Video i ever watched of you! Ibrrwlly love your video ❤️ bought the New H6Pro Closed in Green and i really think about a external Soundcard. But i don‘t find a good price for the gsx 1000 :(

You had so much fun making this video. Also like your conclusion. Most people say nah you don't need a external soundcard. So nice change to hear someone elses opinion

I like that it has a button to swap between speakers/headphones. I'm not sure I've seen anything else do this. It's /only/ changed based on whether you have headphones plugged in or not, which I would be weary of eventually ruining the port/plug from too many operations.

I've owned the gsp 500 for years now and I really like them the only downside is the audio jacks on my motherboard can't drive them all that well so when I upgraded my mic setup I got a 1/4th to 3.5 mm adapter and they work really well with my yamaha mg10xu. I was thinking about getting one of these external sound cards for my headphones but after getting my mixer I see no need.

🤔 Depends on the price tag. I've never thought of PC Audio that much. I'm using a cheap Steelseries Siberia 150 headset in combination with on board audio chip. I'd consider buying an external sound card if it's cheaper than $100 to be honest.

24bit/96kHz does the job, I do not need those additional features, the simplicity of swapping from speakers to headphone is what I need, good review

Currently using a dedicated (off-board) Sound Blaster variant. Would something like this be better than that? The one I have been using, since building my current rig is the... Creative Labs Sound Blaster Z 24-bit, by the way. Planning to build again, at some point, next year. Perhaps I will look into getting one of these... instead of an internal sound card.

I have the GSX 1000. It really does change sound to be more "real". The difference listening to music is hard to describe but the best way for me is, i forget that i'm in a room listening to music instead i am just inside the music. Highly recommend if you have good headphones and like music or movies.

First... jokes aside. My thoughts on the direct question "DO Gamers Need External Sound Cards?": For normal gamers - no. Most motherboards have good enough audio output. Other than that the quality of the peripherals matter: Headsets, Sound bars, Speakers. Plus there's a lot of software to tweak everything you want. For audiophiles - yes.
@Rustinho3 жыл бұрын
I largely agree with you but I think more people could apply the same thought process to graphics too when they're lusting after the latest shiny new GPUs and that's partly to blame for the inflated prices we're suffering.
@Ubyman913 жыл бұрын
@@Rustinho I agree on the GPU point as well, where people don't really know what they are buying, they just want the latest. Not thinking if they actually need the upgrade or not. But lets be fair, the most expensive piece of hardware in your pc is got to be the graphics card. And ofc, as you mentioned on the inflated prices point is due to multiple issues starting with crypo-mining fiasco, to new technology (RTX), to the fact that Nvidia dominated the market for a very long time, and its general economics that when the demand out-weighs the supply prices go high. However with the current generation I think prices are actually pretty reasonable, even competitive in price-quality on both AMD and Nvidia. The only problem that remains is the stock :)

I did upgrade from mobo sound to an creative rx card, just so I could loop a pretty capable sound system through so it I can play movies and music over the boxes. Without the expected mobo audio issues. But for playing games on the pc I use an blue yeti so I can hook up a headset ;)

can someone explain to me why they keep sticking to micro-usb? :( I think I will try one of those for my DT 770 Pros but I am confused between what an AMP and a Mixer is, gotta research that a bit before I buy one

I've had the GSX1000 for a few years and the virtual 7.1 is genuinely impressive. They drive my GSP 600's rather nicely too.
@BluntyTV3 жыл бұрын
Right? I was genuinely surprised by it... first time I've LIKED a "techno-faked" 7.1 system... You use the 7.1 for games, or like me, prefer it for more "passive" stuff?

@@BluntyTV A bit of both, but mostly games. It does a nice job of expanding the sound stage and helps with the directionality of sounds.

Between the GSX 1200 pro and the Soundblaster X3, which would you say is the better one? Ive seen from many other videos that the X3 is the overall best so im not sure still :/
@BluntyTV3 жыл бұрын
Haven't tried the X3, last SB product in this category I tried was the "X G6", and I didn't like it, terrible button/dial arrangement, and functionally unimpressive. Was sent in for review (last year?), I sent it back without wasting my time making as video about something I couldn't recommend.
