This is truly a fantastic interview proving that Ken knows his $#!T! Gabriela, YES..is GIFTED...but that is just the foundation. Her abilities, and yours, could collapse in a matter of minutes without the guidance and lessons Ken has provided her. I have witnessed many incredible vocalists over the decades and Gabriela is clearly at the top of the mountain...and Ken has clearly guided her path to that peak! I can't think of a better testimonial than what is above! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Ken when are you doing a Q&A with Gabbi? Im sure there are 100 of Q to her. My first one is Why isnt she in a band? Many rock bands would like to have her as a lead singer. She could still have you as a coach.

I've never taken any lesson's in the traditional way but I've been told many times by many people that I have a natural talent for singing and drums, over the years I've learned more than one thing from instructor's (or trained singer's) about how to help from straining my voice and life-stye/habits to do the same. I've also learned from other drummer's that could play thing's I had not tried before or never played and always wounderd how it was done. Guitar on the other hand did not come to me naturally! It took me a few years of everyday playing just to be proficient with chords! But once I got it...I became quite good at guitar, solo's, well, I can do them with some level of acceptableness but I really consider my guitar playing prowess as a chord's and riff's guy. With most anything I do I've always been a repetitive type learner, I can't just watch someone do something at a regular job and learn it, I usually need some step-by-step instruction and then I need to do it lot's of time before I got it. But once I got it, I got i! So far, Drum's and Singing has been the exception in my life of learning.

5 year in on Ken Tamplin course still constantly making improvements, basically being able to do things I couldn't do before and applaudits usually comes from good song practice. Hearing so many positive comments from many people is so rewarding, singing has also kept me fit. For me I had to work at this over the years it didnt fall in my lap one day and had to correct issues when things were not quite right.

This was a good interview and as a vocalist myself it was a good insight into how hard it is being a vocalist and how you need to take care of this delicate instrument. I am constantly learning and trying to get better.

Good information. Even after singing 50 years I'd never thought of it as an athletic pursuit until I began having problems and heard it described that way. Lots of good information in your interview. Thank you both.

I got in touch with rock/pop music visiting my relatives in Los Angeles in the 70's, they lived listening to music and singing, so I wanted to do the same, it also meant learning English and proper pronunciation. At times I had been able to tune myself nicely, but never learned techniques of breathing and all these things u teach. I have stopped singing at different times, and this last times, I have been losing my voice, my throat has been messed up. So I have been discouraged. I know that I could get some things better if I put in the work. I have been procrastinating, but at least I don't want to lose track of the possibility, that's why I love watching videos like these and your song interpretations. Thanks for all you do 🥁🎸🙏🕯️🌌. Another recent big inspiration: The Warning ⚠️⚠️⚠️💥🎹👍🥁🎸🙏🕯️🌌🔥🌍🌏🌎👍🎹🇲🇽🇺🇸. I grew up knowing an older girl that used to play drums and sing at the same time, plus she played guitar and keyboards, wrote her own songs. She is Mexican too, so, the warning hit close to home ❤. Work gets in the way too. And having health issues pushes me to want to work out every day, so I know that i gotta find time to get into the singing. Yesterday i had time, i just practiced finger dexterity on my toy acoustic guitar, i am not very good at it. And, since my throat is in bad shape right now, i just tried softly tuning in to "run to you", "hysteria", etc...

Love the interview with Gabbi!!! I was pretty sure does play an instrument.. 🎹🎸 She made a great point about the control part… Especially if you happen to be one of those singers ( folks) born or gifted with a big voice… I love the ABS jocke🤣… it definitely helps. I’m one of those, that do crunches regularly… The control itself is actually similarly to a work out… I never thought of it this way, but so true… I wondered whether she considers being in a band or prefers solo??? Also whether she can write songs… Another great bonus to have those days Hope to hear more from Gabbi!!! She Rocks!!! 🎹🎤🎼🤘🥰

Hi, Ken. Hope you're OK. Great interview with Gabriela. I love all kinds of music, especially Christian/gospel, power ballads and musical theatre songs because they're my strongest points, vocally. I've also got an electronic keyboard at home and it's just as good. Have a great life. Love Grace xxx

I wish this vocal training would have been out when I was younger. As a kid I was told I had perfect pitch and both my rhythm and memory was above average. I loved singing and still do. But I can see with my natural talent that training would have been great for me. Well...maybe my next life. 😁

I like the anology of the wild horse, learn to control it or its gonna die. Gabriela has one of the best voices I've ever heard, is it actually possible for her to improve anymore?, or is it now just learning how not to damage it.

As a low bass I focused just on my lows in the beginning but now I'm working on my higher register as well which is a little frustrating at times, especially when comparing myself to tenors or high baritones...😬😅 But I can see the progress when I compare my current recordings to the older ones! 💪😆

I think people use that as an excuse for not being great…that they aren’t “gifted”. I think we can all improve, regardless of the challenge or endeavor, but we all have things to overcome. Obviously, Gabriela has had to overcome her lack of attractiveness…😊

You can only rely so much on your God given talent from birth. That's because you are only gonna be as great as what you are prepared to work for. (Ronnie James Dio - November 1982). Nah he didn't say that........but he should have and that's just as good as him saying it because in actual reality whatever talent he had from birth he took it to the next level with regular practice and training on sound technique. Talent will no doubt make you very good but human experience says on top of that hard work and correct knowledge will make you exceptional.

I wish you would train Yngwie Malmsteen on vocals. He insists he should sing his own songs. But frankly, his voice is the complete opposite of his guitar playing. When he plays he's amazing. When he sings, he jist doesn't have "it." I mean, he can sing in tune. But his performances lack the wow factor.

I'm gifted with a very good ear for pitch, which is very helpful in both singing and improvising on an instrument, but that's pretty much it. Singing in pitch is of course very important, but does it make you a good singer? No. I'm not a good singer. I sing in a pretty solid pitch, but the rest is still a work in progress. I am unfortunately a really lazy son of a b*tch as well. 🤣

Yes, however, you'll have to adapt; there can be challenges in forming notes and you want to be sure they adhere well so as not to slip. Some say resonance can be affected, it's up to the individual.
