I got several pairs of Sidewinder 2s and i love them. Best is to use a longer, flexy board and you can overtake Bycicles LDPing. Once you're on speed it's easy to retain and to go fast, but they don't pump on slow Speedy and or with a hard board. Less chilled, more "sportive" pumping with the Gullies 🙃

Definitely not for pumping from a standstill or low speeds. You can improve the performance by using a Sidewinder in front and a regular truck in the rear, AND by also dialing in the correct bushing hardness’s for both trucks according to your weight. I have one of my longboards setup this way and its one of my favorite rides. Best on a mild to moderate decline.

Sidewinders/hamboards are not bad for pumping. It's all about how you use them. It's impossible to pump these boards being in straight position, so you have to compress/extend your body when you turn - its a hard work if you are not used to it.

how about putting the softest possible bushings? or using this only for the back truck (and putting a good surfskate one in front)?
@Rideables3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I was just wondering if they're suitable for pumping. Other takeaways seem to be - longer wheelbase, taller deck height (is it taller?) . Maybe softer bushings or releasing bushings might help, but the need for 1" riser with 69mm Carver wheels speaks for itself - Waterborne would probably not have a problem. These two-stack Gullwings can also be assembled as 1-stack with the middle layer taken out. I've seen some crazy photos on FB just recently that someone made a 3-stack gullwing but I'm really not sure it gives any advantage other than looking weird. Single-stack 50 degree gullwings with 10" hanger is probably my favorite choice on Waterborne + large wheels + 42" deck + 80 .. 85 .. 97mm wheels for longer distances and speed.
@SurfskateLove3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it makes for a wider wheelbase and a taller ride because you need the risers to account for the deep lean. Personally, I don't find it worth messing around with at all. After riding surfskate trucks, the feel of these Sidewinders is downright unpleasant. And no amount of tinkering is going to fix it, IMHO. But always personal preference.

I agree these are not the best on the flats. I did use them on a couple of decks paired with Waterborne adapter and rear adapter. It is a very smooth, carvy ride, especially with soft wheels. But, compared to Paris V3 trucks on same setups, there is a loss of speed on the flats and uphill. Thus, in my opinion, this setup is good for those who like riding Waterborne setups and want to change it up with another setup. Personally, if I want a break from my favorite board with Waterborne and Paris V3 , a rare ride would be sufficient. Could have more use riding small grade roads with marginal speed where you want the great turning radius on a rough road.

I completely disagree with the conclusion about the truck itself, specially at 6:45. These truck are insane carving machine but you need to redo the test with a stiff board and more speed, all the video you were with a very low speed so the trucks doesn't shine at all this way. You don't need the riser if you also put them a bit tighter, specially if you're getting more speed. Additionally changing to higher durometer bushings (just a few dollars to experiment) on the lower kingpin, and depending on weight and style possibly all four bushings on the rear truck..... Tuning your equipment to your style and preferences goes a long way with regards to all equipment.... it is good to remind yourself that in most cases, the equipment is not custom built with just your size/weight/skill level in mind, as most products are made to cover a range of weight and size riders.... tuning will take you a long ways with much of your equipment; and you may discover that as your skills progress, you will need to re-tune as those skills become refined. I have to try them out in combination with a dropthrough board. Not for a surfskate though! They are very easy to turn trucks without any wedging. So they do have their uses. And Sector Nine (the producer of the sidewinder truck) won' t have any problems because of the rise of surfskates ;-).

One thing I've noticed about all these videos is all you people are matching up the wrong Deck with the Sidewinder trucks you can't just put any deck on there and expect to carve

Which is another way of saying they don't really work well as surfskate trucks...
