Im so confused . If I own my cleaning business Do I need a sales or use tax permit and have to charge taxes to do cleanings at offices homes (commercial & residential?
@kathleenmcdermitt87313 жыл бұрын
In Wisconsin the sales tax for janitorial or cleaning homes is kinda complicating. I have to charge sales tax for deep cleans one time service and only cleaning tangible property is taxed. And no sales tax for residential cleaning for a client you clean for on a regular basis
@AskAngelaBrown3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's complicated everywhere except in the states where they have a blanket service tax. LOL. Oh why can't taxes be easier eh?

Ty. Not a house cleaner but im trying to charge for labor only. Very informative. Sounds like I should buy big products first and have them install it on another date so I save on sales tax for the labor? Maybe that's why you get free installation with most items.

In Texas, we are require to collect sale tax if doing the service as a business. It’s hard because adding sale tax means higher price. But legalizing a business is a positive thing.

So in Texas, when cleaning a home, do I charge the client sales tax??
@VelvetVersa3 жыл бұрын
@@pcs9016 You are required to collect the sale tax, but you need to apply for the permit first.

I know right!! I want to charge by including sales tax in the price already. Like $150, but then it’d be as if the service for cleaning was about $138 which is so little… but then the salex tax increases cost at a weird price - $150 -> about $162

Here in Hawaii we don’t have “sales” tax, we have “general excise” tax which is income based, so we charge 4.166% GE Tax on everything (services and products).
@AskAngelaBrown4 жыл бұрын
Didn't know that. Good to know, thanks for sharing!

In Idaho services are not taxed. Products sold are taxable.

Most ppl charge 199 for small house so how do you do the tax on that if they pay cash. Do you subtract 8.25% on invoice job as 182.50 then put 16.41 as tax? Can i just put 199 on invoice and then add up taxes at end of the year?
@AskAngelaBrown18 күн бұрын
It's up to you as long as all taxes are added up by the end of the year

I don’t understand how to add sale tax on my invoice should I charge the customer sale I live in NYS
@AskAngelaBrown2 жыл бұрын
Great question. Here is a link www.avalara.com/taxrates/en/download-tax-tables.html? Download the tax table for the area you live in and ad the taxable amount to the services you provide. So if the tax rate is 7.2% and you charge $100 for the job you would charge them $100 for the job and $7.20 for the tax. The total of the job would be $107.20 Does that make sense?

I cleaned a couple of houses before covid began. Now I need to file taxes. What information do I need from the few jobs I did to file my taxes? I am new to gig work and the taxes it involves. Thank you for your videos!
@AskAngelaBrown4 жыл бұрын
File your taxes the same as you always did. On the "other income" area add in the money you earned from cleaning houses. And if you have a business, you can show the expenses for the cost of doing business (smartphone, vehicle, fuel, uniforms, cleaning supplies, advertising, etc.) on what is known in the USA as a Schedule C. If you use a program like Turbo Tax it will walk you step by step through the entire process and ask you questions about your business. amzn.to/39mxsu6 Here is the software to use. And it will be an excellent lesson in what you are allowed to take as a deduction and what will trigger an audit. The software will keep you from being audited. Does this make sense?

Hello Ma’am im in Texas how can I see how much to charge for a comercial cleaning?
@AskAngelaBrown2 жыл бұрын
It all depends on where you live and sq. footage, plus the services that you will provide. Your best bet is to search commercial cleaning providers in your area and compare their prices and services. Good luck!
