Guthrie and Ghani in the UK has a sewing kit option so you get an email with 2 patterns and a choice of fabrics and you only buy if you want. You get all your notions, usually PDF and printed pattern and a video tutorial which can also be purchased separately if you’ve already got the pattern for example

Hi Kate, Thanks for your comparison of these subscriptions! I've been a Needlesharp subscriber for a few years, and have really enjoyed making them up; the selecting of the next box is a little fun, as well 😉 Yes, you can edit your tier each month if you like one of the other levels better, or skip that month. The tried and true boxes are all ones that appeared in previous years, and usually two selections of fabric for those. All in all, that makes for about 20 choices. Each month is a particular theme for the current boxes (boho, jeans, jackets, etc.) There is also a cute label included as well - and it's been different every month. Happy sewing!!

Been watching sewing vlogs for some time now and only just found your channel. I have subscribed. I like it. I don’t get boxes- would love to but as a pensioner I feel the risk is too great. It is hard as when I worked I had no time to sew- now I have time but limited budget!!! But I am not complaining as I still get to make my wardrobe and love the process. One box that seems hugely popular in the UK is “Beyond the Pink Door”. I look forward to the weekly “live” chat every Sunday and the fabrics look wonderful. They are based in Ireland but ship to Canada.

Ooh yes, I have heard of that one, as well! Sewing can be a costly hobby, for sure. I like using pieces from thrift shops as fabric. Thanks for watching, commenting & subscribing!

Great video. I have checked it many boxes in the past and declined so it then EXCEPT NeedleSharp. In which I joined all 4 of the tiers and did that for years! I love them and their fabrics and choices and the fact that you can skip when something just doesn’t agree with your aesthetic! The price is hefty, but still no complaints on my end! Mary is great to work with, as well! #Needlesharp #sewingsubscriptionkits

Hmmmm. I haven’t heard of Needlesharp. Interesting! I subscribe to Sew Hayley Jane and Beyond The Pink Door. The fabrics are beautiful quality. I’m not a big fan of oversized garments on me, so I usually have to hack the patterns I got in the SHJ boxes. Last month was a great PJ pattern that is my jam, and the fabric that came with it is lovely. Sometimes I believe the fabrics and pattern don’t jive well together, but that’s the risk I take with subscription boxes. I do love them; they throw me out of my comfort zone. I would really enjoy finding more children’s patterns, box or not. ❤ Thanks for your review, Kate. 😊

Great points! It's fun to receive mail and see what goodies are inside

I like the idea. But, I'm cheap. Lol. I haven't been able to justify the additional cost compared to gathering materials yourself.

I agree. I think of them as a little treat or splurge item. I think they definitely have their place, for some, who want convenience or a bit of a fun surprise. Kind of like food meal prep boxes!

@@seasonallyproductive Totally. Might be a nice gift for a beginning sewer.

Have you had to pay any duties on your Needle Sharp packages since you’re in Canada?

I'm having trouble recalling, exactly. However, it seems to be somewhat random when I get the odd package from USA. Sometimes it's free and clear, other times there are additional unexpected expenses. Sorry I can't be of more help!
