As of June 22, 2021 you will need an ELD for hauling RVs in Canada. So any US or Canadian drivers working for US companies make sure they are getting you an ELD.

Don't think many will be crossing the border when it opens later in July....too many hoops to jump through....unless transport companies make it financially worth it.

Still rolling through your videos, and I skipped a bunch to see what was up with the ELD. Anyhow, I thought Gassers was verboten with Horizon? And the external tank with gas, thought that was illegal also...but then again, I traveled through NE back in March on our way to CA (vacation), and saw a pickup truck with gas cylinders standing upright in the bed without any visible form of restrains, nor any placards. When the opportunity presented itself, I floored it to get past that. I"m guessing it's been the wild west on the interstates, but things might crack down now that things are slowly going back to normal.

Did some research and reading. External tanks with gas are allowed. Driver must possess a DOT permit for the tank/pump, and have a transfer pump. Gravity feeding gasoline is illegal.

Thinking about doing this . I have 2009 Dodge 2500 HD Quad can 4x4 SRW 6.7. 236,000 miles. If this is too old is it feasible to lease through Enterprise and. Make a profit. Any help appreciated.

I applied to horizon but they rejected me because of my age (75) even though I have RV towing experience. Also I just got a 2 year DOT medical cert. I've been driving commercially for over 40 years, no tickets or accidents. It turned out I applied to the top rated RV Transport company, Indiana Transport and was hired. Found they have many drivers that moved up from horizon.

I fought wind all the way across Montana. Got to Washington and got a date with the DOT. Dealt with the snow across every pass. I think I'm going to get a peterbilt and drop deck for multi haul when the weather breaks. I've noticed there is no training from the office down to the orientation staff. More emphasis needs to be given to the HOS rules and the correct way to send in your bills for pay. Like i used to tell my troops (its ate up like a soup sandwich).Yall keep the greasy side down. Be back out when i get done fixing an injector.

You are correct on adding to the two weights together as long as you keep it under 26k, there is a special exemption for RV’s similar to the ELD exemption. However my TM at Horizon told me they will not honor the RVIA CDL exemption therefore we just have to add the GVWR’s not actual weight together and keep that at/under 26k

Hey, tell Matt that I put in an average of two Hemi camshafts a week where a flawed design makes them fail. My Dodge 2500 has over 440,000 miles on it... I love Dodge with the Cummins but that Hemi will eat a camshaft and lifters. Love all your vids!

when did yours start to fail? I just got a dodge 2500 - 2017 with the Hemi. it has 9k miles on it. so it hasnt been driven much.

Pretty sure horizon doesn’t let anyone pull a trailer with gvwr over 13 if they do it like horizon. Also you IFTA? Was that trailer scaled at 15 or gvwr?

Horizon will let you pull anything as long as you have the proper license and registration. Just did a trailer last week that scaled 31,000 including my truck which weighs 10,200

Hey Bud I Enjoy your videos and always Glean something from each one.... In the beginning of this one you started to discuss weight. I am getting MANY conflicting interpretations of the rule. You state that it is all "Actual Weight" without a CDL to reach the 26,000 GVWR Rule. It is MY understanding that without CDL one must go by the Combined GVWR Rating of each piece. IE if I have a 10k GVWR 3/4 Ton F250 then I am able to pull a MAX GVWR of 16K.... Now If one has a CDL then they go by actual weight because it doesnt matter once you have that Holy Grail of a CDL. Please enlighten me, I'm in the process of getting ready to pull the trigger on a new to me truck for doing this so that I can keep my current F250 setup for Pilot Car as it is and then lease it out. I'm thinking I will stick with a F250 for the reason stated above but if I can go bigger, I may!

Yeah I pulled a bumper pull 30 footer for 10 years and always pulled off and waited for winds to die down. My Grandfather got blown off a road in Alaska when I was younger and he and Grandma were lucky to survive. I just bought a Duramax 3500 long bed, was not easy to find, single wheel to hopefully get started soon. Moving to Indiana within the year, maybe. I was wondering can you run an ELD without a CDL? I'm working on getting my CDL but work 60 hours a week for Coca-Cola as an account manager for 25 years, looking for a change. Not easy to study and work and life all at once, itll take some time. I really enjoy your videos, thanks!!!!
