Do I recommend M1 air 16gb for Android studio and web dev work?

Nahi yaar.... Android studio bhayankar garam ho jaate he....There is just no sense in working with i5 16 GB if you are Mobile Android Developer

i used to do android on 4 gb ram and a pentium. I couldn't open chrome along with android studio, Thankfully it was a desktop running emulator was dream, i used to test app on an actual device and search the stack overflow on that same phone. Ahh those days.

It is capable, but it is better to go with 32GB of RAM. I have a 16GB RAM MacBook Air with the M3 chip. If I open Figma on Safari along with other document tabs on Google Chrome and Android Studio, it lags a little. Sometimes, it even gives a low memory warning. So, it's better to go with 32GB of RAM.

Hi , I'm a student eager to learn ios development . I have learned Python, Java , Android development , beginner level of Datascience in a high spec Dell inspiron. laptop Now I have some interest in M1 Macbook pro for ios development or swift . I am from India and the price is in my range around 700$ so would you suggest me to buy Macbook pro M1 or MB Air m1 or Macbook air m2?? Tell me how it will be performance of MBP m1 as compared to MB air m1 in mobile development or should I remove the thought of buying a new Macbook Laptop should solve all the previous learnt languages which I have mentioned above .

careful, Macbook M series can't be upgraded because the processor is hardwired due of its structure well, my friend of mine have the 16gb ram version if I remember correctly

16 gb ram. You won't be able to utilize m1 pro's full potential if you are going for 8 GB ram

I think it will run fine, but don't run emulators for too long. I use 16/512, and while it works excellently, I have noticed the laptop heats up a little when I leave my emulator on for long

What are the idle temps for you and on what occasions it heats up?? ​@@WakeupDev.

@@goodToBeConfidentialnot sure about the temperature. It runs very cool when idle but while doing anything intensive it runs hot after let say 30 mins of using Android emulator nonstop. I’ve noticed the performance has degraded overtime and the emulators lag significantly now and often become non responsive. I usually have to close the emulator and restart it but it does the same after minutes. My suspicion is that the latest Mac updates may have introduced some bugs and made the M1 worse. The battery life reduced significantly since MacOS 14.1. Apple has done this in the past to their iPhones so I won’t be surprised if it’s intentional
