Taking a year off made me feel happy. I was able to do some stuff that I never got to do before. I got in to stationery and I brought back out my old Crayola Supertip markers to start off. I discovered that I don't mind the colour yellow that much. I finally made spicy rice cakes since I had time and they were delicious! Life just keeps getting busier.

i love that! when we focus on something as time consuming and stressful as school, we forget to enjoy the little things that we otherwise would take for granted or wouldnt even have the opportunity to discover. i hope your year off keeps getting better!

I’m taking a gap year before uni/college and I like hearing about your experience. I feel kinda odd though because I’m working full time and it’s not something I’m passionate about. I’ve thought about quitting but my parents say I need to be working full time if I’m taking a year off. I just feel like for me it defeats the purpose of having a year off because my time for self exploration is almost as limited as it was when I was in school. Most of my work shifts are evening shifts too so I’m not even seeing my family as much as I’d like too either.

I can definitely relate to that. Right now I'm on a year gap before uni. and things are still stressful. Thinking about the future is already so stressful for me. Being productive and doing the things I never got to do before that I had always wanted to do is my goal and happiness, but I'm still being piled up with work. Time really can't seem to stop even for one day of fun and joy.

Why full time? That’s stupid you’re right that defeats the purpose of a gap year. I did some part time jobs like wrapping presents during Christmas time sorting Pakets at a post office. That was often times like 2-3 days a week for only a few hours. In Germany those part time jobs are called mini jobs or „450€-Jobs“. These jobs are pretty common and popular here since you don’t have to pay taxes or duties so get the full 450€. That was nice cause I still had a lot of free time and could finance my driver’s license, going to the fitness studio, drawing materials, etc.

i took a year or two off and honestly it was the best thing for me being able to figure out what i really wanted to do with my life ect. Now im registered back into college but this time moving at my own pace and what works for me💕💕

Thank you so much for this video! After such a long debate, I finally decided to take a year off before going into graduate school after I graduate in May!
