I often get asked if I think Seagal is a real martial artist or if he’s just faking it. Well, in this video I talk about my thoughts about Seagal as a person and as a martial artist.

The Punches , Chops ,Elbows and Kicks is what makes Steven Seagal aikido very proactive.

Long time viewer, first time commenter here. I respect that you chose your words very carefully about Seagal, but I believe that his moves are real. Put aside his ego and all that but when I did a martial arts course in high school, the instructor asserted that Seagal is the real deal and I agree with him.

I think he is a master in his own right and has credibility in a old school martial art of Aikido but hes ego gets the best of him every time, it's a shame because he is a talented person within Aikido..

Ya, I took Aikido because my friend was in to it and after just a few classes I was like...I learned how to fall good and how to dance. It's all choreographed dancing/throwing for the most part. I will say, though, the people were some of the kindest I have met, and many were women, so that's a bonus to taking it. Very nice people are attracted to the "never hurt anybody" mentality of Aikido. For self defense in 2022, it's not a serious skill set, tho.

Seagal is a controversial figure but as a martial artist he´s the real deal. Watch Rickson Gracie´s interview on Seagal or Daniel Inosanto who knew Seagal for 50 years.

Rickson Gracie stated that he does believe Seagal is a martial artist ! being that the guy has dedicated his life to studying them . But also said how effective he is ? i don't know . It's different from saying that Seagal is the real deal and his stuff works ! He was being polite to another martial artist was all

The question has a simple answer he is a real martial artist. As far as how effective it is depends on the situation but if i was trainning some martial art for self defense i would go for karate or judo and normally if we defend ourselves against people who don't know what they are doing or some annoying drunks it works. I would not get into a ring with a boxer or kickboxer or MMA guy thinking i could fight and no way i would get into street fights where people can bring knifes and stab me.

Oh yeah and the story about Seagal being choked out and crapping himself is a lie. The stuntman Stephen Lambert was there and what he did was he hit Gene LeBell in the groin and Gene threw Seagal so hard he flew 4 feet in the air. That was it!

Exactly. They never really fought or choked either one out. More of a small scuffle. The stunt director Conrad Palmisano corroborated pretty much this telling of events too, he even mentioned that Seagal himself got back up, gave a firm slap on the Gene's back, then they all went their separate ways. This was in 1990 on the set of "Marked for Death".

He's not a Mongol. He's part Russian Jew, yes. And hes married to a Mongol woman and they have a son, poor kid. I think he has 7 kids with 4 women now ranging from ages 50 to 12 years old give or take a few years. This dude is tripping on a regular basis.

What Seagal is not is a musician/guitarist, that's BS because I have been a guitarist for 39 years and I know that you probably don't play guitar seriously but if playing guitar was reading then Seagal's level as a guitarist is when kids are just learning to read stuff like "See the dog, see the dog run" that's his level as a guitarist but he says he played with the great blues guitar masters and that's BS.

If you are not a fighter then why are you commenting on combat?
@elmoviemaster
@elmoviemaster 2 жыл бұрын
May not be a fighter. But it doesn't take an expert to see that Aikido is not very useful in the real world. No one falls like that in real life. Like I said in the video, the chances of someone coming at you with an open hand like that, are slim to none. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

In all your videos about Seagal you keep claiming not to be hating on the guy which is absolutely bullshit because you keep discrediting the guy's art. I think most of the time you keep forgetting the difference between acting and real life scenario, these are two different things. If you think the guy is arrogant clearly you have no sense of humour.
@elmoviemaster

Oh I have plenty of sense of humor. I laugh at the guy all the time. His movies are unintentionally funny along with everything he tends to say. I am not discrediting the guys art, if you pay attention to what I said he actually does know aikido. However the guy is 70 and he's no way able to do what he used to do before even if he claims he can.

@@24tommyst Well known by who? Internet youtubers? Lol here's the thing. Aikido today is 95 percent "flower power art of peace" nonsense, but it was NOT always like this. The founder (Ueshiba sensei) had a serious combat reputation PRIOR to WW2. He taught military units and had all the top tier Judoka, Sumo and Karate guys come to his Dojo. Very few people today still practice the COMBATIVE aikido style. Seagal and his teacher Hiroshi Isoyama are VERY combat oriented in their style. Seagal's style is a hybrid Budo style called "Tenshin Bugei Ryu". The way he taught his students is much more "hard/direct" (similar to Judo). There is no comparison to goofy flower power Aikido compared to Tenshin Ryu. That's why Seagal also trained top tier students that are now respected self defense oriented masters of their own. Larry Reynosa, Craig Dunn, Haruo Matsuoka, Jaime Calderon, Ralph Angulo, Gerrit Green, etc. And yes there are black belt Brazilian Jujutsu guys that have been humbled by Seagal too. Case in point "Razor" Rey Garcia, multiple time Judo/BJJ champion and Renzo Gracie black belt. He's confirmed that Seagal's skills are "100 percent legit" (his words, not mine).
