A good thorough review that shows it's strengths and weaknesses. Looks like the Do-It injector is more 'Don't Do-It' (couldn't resist that pun).

Thank you kindly! I try to be as inclusive and helpful with any of my review videos as I can. Even without the damage to the injector, it wasn't something I would recommend and or use on a regular basis. 🤣😂👍 a well placed pun never goes out of style! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

🤣😂👍 Thanks bro! You are absolutely right, there is always a learning curve with new molds. Each with its own personality that is learning only through hands on experience. It won't take me long to get these molds perfected and punch out some decent quality lures to use on the channel in the future! As always, thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Thanks bro! I tried to get in as much information as I could without just droning on for 30 minutes lol. They are definitely a very awesome budget option for anglers wanting to make DIY lures. I would say that 90% of all fish caught on my channel have been caught on lures that I produce! I had a good run on some of the Googan baits (The Bandito Bug and Googan Toad) but otherwise, pretty much every other fish came on a BZ lure. I have some exciting plans for the spring with some of my custom hand dipped lures, like the Spartan Lure! You won't want to miss that!!! Thanks for watching and commenting bro 👍

Thanks Mike! It's always awesome to make lures and especially to make new ones. My future videos with these molds will be much more to the point... I have already gone over the molds themselves so now it's going to be color matching and showing color patterns that I produce! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Hey BZ, great honest review, but I would be sending that damaged injector back. The molds that filled, looked good. Best of luck when you get to take those out. Cheers

Thanks Larry, I always strive to give my best review of any product I use. I was a little bummed about the injector but honestly, I didn't like it for other reasons as well and it would likely have ended up sitting on the shelf anyway lol. I'll be hitting the water soon to test the lures out and prove they will catch fish. As always, your support is greatly appreciated 👍

Thanks! I tried to be detailed about them but not drone on for an hour while doing it lol. Atleast I was able to get some hands on experience with the Do-It injector, the damage wasn't the only thing I didn't like about them and I was able to make a recommendation from it. I'm really excited to show some colors that I produce as well as the other molds! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

What I found , Need warm up molds before pouring , its make it much better
@beardzerofishing

Thank you, that is an excellent idea that I may try. I do know that for open pour molds it's very common to heat the molds in order to increase working time and or to fuse layers of plastic together. It's not currently a method I apply to injection molding because it would delay the curing time and decrease the rate of lure production. I greatly appreciate your comment and your support! Thanks for watching 👍

While I can't speak to their bait molds, their jig molds are top notch! Sucks about the injector. Sounds like even if it wasn't damaged, it isn't the right one for you. Maybe you can send it back for a refund and get one you like better? The finished baits looked great to me! I think you'll get some good use from them. Fun video! Looking forward to seeing more!

It's awesome to hear positive feedback about the jig molds, and very interesting to watch your creations with them! Yeah the ding in the injector does suck but you are absolutely right, I didn't like it for other reasons as well and would still not recommend it. That was the only one they had available through tackle warehouse so I figured I would give it a shot. The finished baits are absolutely fishable and I have no doubts I will catch fish on them. So for my purposes of making lures for myself and bringing injection content to the channel they are perfect! For the price, they make DIY baitmaking truly an affordable thing for many who don't want to spend over a hundred dollars on a single mold!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the video bro and as always, appreciate you watching and commenting 👍

Great overall walkthrough of the DIY for molds. I’ve seen some other DO-IT stuff. Sorry that injector came messed up. I was really excited to see that ribbon tail worm, disappointed that the tail didn’t completely fill. Do you think other plastic materials may melt or fill better? For the curing process, do you chill them or just let them cool at room temp? Those Senkos came out really nice, but after the ribbon tail test it will be interesting to see how the appendages of the creature baits fill in. Excellent video BZ, learned a ton! Thanks!👍

Thanks bro! I was trying to be thorough without getting carried away with the time lol. I'm glad to have had hands on experience with the Do-It injector. Although it was damaged, that wasn't the only thing I didn't like about it. The ribbon tail mold didn't fill properly because of the injector, it was binding up and didn't shoot enough plastic fast enough. The mold itself seemed to be perfectly fine. I use Dead-on plastix for all my lure making... if the mold can't handle the best the industry has to offer then it's a mold problem 🤣😂👍. For the curing process, I allow the filled molds to sit at room temp for a few minutes when it can be removed from the mold. Then, the lures get laid flat to cure for atleast a few more hours before packaging but usually overnight. This part is extremely important because they will take the memory of however they are allowed to cure. Meaning if you have the worm bent during the curing, it will want to return to that position. I think the creature bait will turn out well since it is a single cavity mold. There are also many things that can be done in case it does have issues with filling. The easiest being to inject the plastic at a slightly higher temp. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, I know I had a great time testing these new molds. I also enjoyed your questions very much! As always, thanks for your support and for watching this video 👍

@@beardzerofishing thanks man! Wasn’t sure what plastics they recommend or if they have their own they try to sell with their molds. Didn’t know that’s the stuff you’re using - appreciate the info! So with the injector, is it best to get one with more volume and insulation? Obviously you don’t want too much in there or have it be able to cool in there. How’s the cleanup done with them?
@beardzerofishing
@beardzerofishing Жыл бұрын
@@live2fishofficial @Live 2 Fish They do have a plastic they recommend, it comes in a box with a tap on it lol. I haven't tried their brand of plastisol but off top, I would say that the box with a tap for packaging would likely cause mixing issues. Anytime you are going to make lures, you always want to mix the plastic very well as it will separate over time. Dead-On Plastix is made in Michigan in Jackson if I remember correctly. That is what most of the professionals use and is available in many blends ranging from finesse (Softest) all the way to Saltwater (Firmest). It is by far the best plastisol I have ever used!!! With the injectors, it really depends on personal preference and need. Thicker walls on an injector does seem to help with reducing heat transfer. The quicker the heat dissipates through the walls, the faster it becomes unusable. Also, if you aren't using gloves ( NOT RECOMMENDED!!!) you will be burned much easier. As far as injector size, if you are using big molds or ones with several cavities to fill, the larger injectors will be better. If you are only making a few lures at a time then the smaller ones are much easier to manage and use. Price can also be a big determining factor. The bigger injectors are not comparable in price to their volume. Many times you can get 3 smaller injectors for the same price and ultimately hold more volume combined. I personally prefer the smaller injectors because they are much easier to wield than their larger versions and I can have a bunch readily available on standby for any number of issues that may arise. Cleaning the injectors is very simple, just allow them to cool for a few minutes and the plastic peels right off and can be remelted so there is no waste.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!!! I got into baitmaking for a few reasons. The biggest was that I was tired of being limited to lures and color patterns that were available at the store. Or often they would be out of stock or discontinued a color pattern I really enjoyed. Once I got into making my own lures, I quickly learned the skill and it became a passion! Then I taught myself how to make artistic lures completely by hand and could bend the plastic to my will so to speak lol. Thank you for watching and commenting 👍

“I guarantee you fish don’t sit around and have conventions about how smooth the lure you have is.” 😂😂💀 Sucks that the injector came banged up. Hopefully they stand behind their product and will send you a new one or refund you the price. Very frustrating. I thought the finished product looked great. I’d throw those lures. Can’t wait for the next mold video with the two new colors in them 😀👍

🤣😂👍Facts only here bro lol! It really sucked to get a dinged up injector but in a sense, it still shows what you can expect from a similar order... plus, it's super thin and loses heat quickly like I suspected it would. The finished lures are not by any means perfect but I don't think that will cause any issues with catching fish on them. For around $30 for a mold, it is definitely worth it for a DIY shop to have! I'll be working on the next baitmaking video soon!!! Then periodically I will throw a color match video in along with some more hand dipped creations. Thanks for watching and commenting bro 👍

I do make a 3.5" Keitech type paddle tail lure. It's not something I generally make in bulk but I could work it out. As for colors, I can make anything in a single or two-toned pattern! The wonderful thing about custom baitmakers is that we have a lot of flexibility in what we can do. Feel free to reach out to me at beardzerofishing@gmail.com and I would be happy to assist you in every way I can. Perhaps I could get a mold in the size you are interested in... the color match would be easy enough! Thanks for your interest in the lures and for your comment 👍
