This is a tutorial on how to put together a carbonator, I haven't seen any on KZbin that explain it very well.

best video i have seen and unlike all the other videos on this subject, you mention tube measurments 5/16 for tubing etc that makes it easier for ordering parts to put this together. thank you

Nice video. I'm sure you have learned by now that you don't have the line pressurized when you attach it to the bottle. You attach it and then turn the ball valve that let's the co2 go through the hose into the bottle. Just an FYI for whoever else may view this

Fantastic tutorial... Can you please give a list of items required to build the carbonator?

I build my first one several years ago, like 10, still works fine. I highly recommend better hoses than those. The colder the water the better carbonation, we use 60 PSI as we love super carbonated water. Maybe we will make a video for our cooking channel.

Love your video. I have been carbonating soft drinks since the 90’s. I used to work at Pepsi, flip you BIB over, it’s upside down.

What is best bottle/cap to hold carbonation water for 2-3 weeks? I would like glass bottle, since it more organic than plastic. All the ones I have leak in 2-3 days.

I'm looking into doing this. Can I put the syrup in the bottle before carbonating it?

No, you'll have a huge fizzy mess!

The biggest problem with all the diy SodaStream is the cost. Before you get a sip you are out more than $100. I think $100 can buy enough soda for me for 5 years.

You people know just enough to be dangerous Cocoa Cola is mixed at a ratio of 4.5-4.75 :1 in other words 4 1/2 oz water to 1 ounce syrup and pepls is 5:1 , the thing you call a ball lock is commonly called a quick disconnect and it is color coded gray is for gas and black is for syrup. If I were doing this I would get a air stone and a tube and run that into the bottle and attach it to the regulator and bubble the CO2 into the water eliminating the need for shaking the bottle and taking a chance of having the bottle explode in your hands! I was in the beverage instillation and repair business for approximately 20 years I know what I'm talking about!

You realize those 2L bottles are all pressure tested at 120 psi before they leave the factory right? Just don't use the same one 5000 times and you will have zero problems

Coke is so bad for you . Drink just carbonated water or regular water.

High fructose corn syrup and maltodextrin are bad for you. People can make their own syrups from different sweeteners or even use a simple syrup (sugar and water) or gum syrup as the base (gum arabic, sugar and water). It's possible to make decent cola with liquid stevia, monkfruit and saccharine as well.

How to spend 100$ on fittings and tubing to avoid spending 100$ on a real sodastream . of 50$ on soda. Its a cool accomplisment for the pride of doing it yourself though . .

Good way to miss the point. He can freely buy carbon tanks now and it will easily pay for itself in savings over time. He's not locked into Sodastreams proprietary tech, this means that he has complete freedom in how he constructs his drinks. So flavor, amount of seltzer made, bottle size, etc. All that has to be done is to just leave empty bottles in the fridge/freezer and to use water that is right above freezing. He'll get an insane amount of fizz and versatility. Sodastream is just more walled garden crap that sells at a premium due to people overpaying for convenience or not understanding their options. Even a basic soda siphon is superior to any Sodastream.

To put a fine point on what Jad Just-A-Dales says; Sodastream uses the Kodak camera model - sell the camera cheap and make it up on film. Same for your inkjet printer. Sodastream refills are crazy expensive. The tank and regulator method costs LESS than one cent per liter. I get indignant when I'm in a restaurant and they want $2.99 for a glass of soda water. I won't go back there - and that includes the Las Vegas casino that wanted that much. 90% of places don't charge for soda water 'cuz it's almost the same price as water.
