I actually helped my friends make a ton of these one day for a party, they weren't used at a bar or nearly as well put together as these though 😂

I have a question. Since you are gluing and it isn't on end grain, why not just use an 18 ga nail gun instead of screws? Once the glue dries the joint is stronger than the wood itself. It would speed up the process quite a bit. The nails would hold it together in place of clamps until the glue dries. Gluing end grain isn't strong of course (and screws don't hold well in end grain either) so that wouldn't work but glue and brads would work well for these! Nice stools, I'm really liking your channel!

You are 100% correct, a proper glue joint will be stronger than the solid wood, however there is a very simple and factual reason why I did not glue and nail these with a nail gun....I don't have a nail gun haha. Well I have one but it is about 3 hours away from where I am currently at. I moved to the city and had to downsize my tool collection so I left some tools at my parents house. Appreciate the feedback though, much appreciated!

Well that is a pretty darn good reason then haha! Enjoying your content but I don't always comment. I do some woodworking myself and try to reuse materials when I can too. Cost is a big reason but it also helps keep things from ending up in the dump. I buy a lot of solid wood and ply wood furniture (like TV stands which are often oak plywood) from charity thrift stores for as low as $5 at times so that gives people a place to take their items they no longer want which keeps it out of landfills and it also puts money to a good cause and gives me materials to work with at a crazy low price. It is a win for everyone! Keep up the awesome content!!!

Thats actually a great idea! I might have to implement something like that into a video in the near future! Thanks for the support!

That would be cool if you did. I bought a big old dresser at a goodwill clearance outlet store for $10 a while back. I just have it in my shop right now...still trying to figure out what I want to do with it. All tiger (quartersawn) oak!!! Can you believe that??? I figured worse case scenario I would have a bunch of absolutely beautiful wood for projects. I'm still thinking I may refinish it in some way...still haven't decided yet.

Do a quick google search to compare standard and metric sizes. I'm just a typical American who doesn't understand the metric system lol. I do however want to learn it since we are one of the few countries that don't use it.

Thanks! And yea they are holding me and I'm not light so I had to make sure they were sturdy! I fall enough when I drink, no need to add more falls from faulty bar stools : )

Lost me on the 2x stuff. frist shows you cutting the nails then wa la 2x with no nails. How did you get them out?
@bakersbuilds
@bakersbuilds 6 жыл бұрын
We actually didn't remove any nails. All the nails from the pallet stayed in. Only ones not there are ones that fell out haha.

Just looks like at 1:22 the nail holes are empty. I don't see any cut off nails .
@bakersbuilds
@bakersbuilds 6 жыл бұрын
The holes you are looking at are the ones that held the other planks in. Some of the planks we pried off and the nails came out with the plank.

OK makes since now. Some times I cut them leaving a piece on the rails and sometimes I pry them off. I found a great tool for pulling the nail. I would have to find it to tell you the maker, but it works really good. Izzy Swan shared if you heat the nails with a propane torch they will pull out better and it works. I like to try to save the rails. I made a tool for prying the boards off out of an old car sissor jack that works pretty good. Wish I was tech savey enough to do a video Good job on the stool !!!
