Yes, a lat machine will help with pull-ups. However, lat machines differ. I own 4 home gyms: a garage gym, a basement gym, an extension room gym, and a backyard patio gym, and I can do lat-pull down on 4 different cable machines and 3 different home gym machines (a Soloflex, a Gravity Edge Gym, and a Marcy PM4400 Home Leverage Gym. All 7 exercise machines provide 7 different types of tension when I do lat pull-downs on them. I'm also 67 years and 8-months old, and I could only do 3 pull-ups last year. Now I can do over 10 times that amount. Doing lat pull-downs is one of the progression exercises I used to build up to being able to do many pull-ups, and I still do them because according to Vladimir Zatsiorsky, the former strength and conditioning consultant to the Soviet Union's Olympic teams, and the late Louie Simmons of Westside Barbell, whose members broke many world powerlifting records, exercises, the way you do the same exercises, and strength training methods should be rotated every few weeks to prevent muscular accommodation, which is when your muscular endurance, size, and strength reaches a plateau of no progress or performance decreases.

They definitely do, I can do 100kg on pulldowns, started doing pull ups recently and I can do +20kg weighted pull ups at 80kg bodyweight for the same amount of reps

I can do wide grip lat pulldown more than my weight but can't do a single pull up ? Why ?

Pull ups are quite a specific pattern. The best thing you can do is try working with bands and pull up negatives 💪🏿
