You answered my question that I’ve always had. Granted I built at max size on my spheres with an artistic fun, so took days to build. Now might take week or two to build one.
@dragonmoregaming3 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I definitely started with the smallest to test this, but I recommend doing this at max distance like you're doing for the most power generation.

@Dragonmore Gaming uhh yet Luminosity goes past 2 x on the right star, so where you build it, is the most important?
@mikegamerguy4776 Жыл бұрын
To justify this... visible light isn't the only part of the EM spectrum a star is emitting. There's tons of energy being pumped out that you can't see. Maybe it only gets partially captured as it travels through the spheres. No one said the solar sails ONLY capture visible light. For an advanced civilization, it would be silly to limit yourself to collecting energy from the narrow visible spectrum. One could imagine the Icarus pilot might be able to switch to all kinds of different spectrums and render them as visible light to the mortal eye. No need to include stuff like that in a the game though. Just because you can't see the gamma rays doesn't mean they aren't being thrown out.

The amount of power generated by a Dyson Sphere is completely dependent on the star's luminosity and the amount of carrier rockets and sails used to make it. So theoretically, the max power you could get would be to do maximum size spheres. Could be interesting to see how much that comes out to :D Further more, rockets (aka trust sections) give more per unit than sails (aka panel sections). I'm not too sure what the balance is but the more trust you make, the more it should give you (hence the first sphere gives you 7.8GW where as the second gives an extra 7GW despite being bigger and so having more sails and rockets to build it).
@dragonmoregaming3 жыл бұрын
I had heard rockets result in more power as well. Good to know. For the mega sphere I will work on next, i do plan to make the max size spheres and the nodes as close together as possible. Not only does it make more power, but also less time to fill in the panel sections with sails. Started a sphere with as far as possible and felt it was gonna take a year to fill all that in. xD

A max size sphere around a 2.5x luminosity star produces over a terawatt. For one layer. You can't even collect it all covering an entire planet in ray receivers.
@AlexUrzica3 жыл бұрын
Nice video bro, given that I was planning to build something similar (maybe not fully encapsulating the star though), it's nice to know that the outer layers would still produce energy. Just out of curiosity, I already built everything for 12/s rocket production with 80 launchers on one planet with an O type star +2x luminosity, does that seem reasonable or did you have an even bigger production? I'm asking because I was planning the opposite where I'm planning to build some layers nearly to the max diameter.
@dragonmoregaming3 жыл бұрын
Hey, Thanks Alex. Oh yeah, a Type O Star multi-sphere is the next big challenge. For this video, I had 90 Launchers and 270 Rail Ejectors and this was for the smallest multi-sphere I could make and still took a while. For a Type O Star Multi-Sphere Project at max distance, I think I will need at least 3x the launchers and like 10x the rail guns. (was waiting soooo long for the cells to fill in). Now if you dont fully encapsulate like you said, won't need that much, and can always simply wait longer too. I would add some more production to have it go faster though. Hope that helps. Let me know what other questions you have.

I love this game so much but they reaaaaaaaaaaaaaly need to fix the save (or be able to switch off the auto save) at some point it gets unplayable.
@dragonmoregaming2 жыл бұрын
yes, the autosaves takes forever when you get a large late game with multiple Dyson Spheres. You can manually override this though. Found this... haven't tried myself though. Override: Open "C:\Users\\Documents\Dyson Sphere Program\options.xml" in notepad. Find " 1200" and change '1200' to the number of seconds between saves; e.g. 3600 per hour. Load your save then close the game as a test. Reopen the file and check the value; if it got reset to default, change it again, save, then make the file read-only. Also, trying a value like '-1' or '0' might disable autosave altogether.

Maybe it makes sense since the layers wouldn't be 100% efficient and heat would transfer out to the next layer.

Nice. Now I noticed the power this one generates goes up exponentially because the outer layers get bigger and bigger. So I'm wondering how much energy will a max size 9 layers spheres make. Starting at max range and going down by 1000 units.

Iam a bit late to the party but why was that even a question ? Your dyson swarm is still generating power. So the same would be then true for another dyson sphere.
@MichaelDomer11 ай бұрын
Interesting. I'm just using frames (no sails!) on a single layer of maximum size,and I got about 60GW. To be honest, I don't see the point of these sails. In this case I didn't even build around the highest luminosity star I've found, so I wouldn't be surprised to get more than 1/2 TW with just frames. That keeps the file size low, and the frame rates high, and I don't even need a fraction of that power for my factories.
@danyael77710 ай бұрын
Being a brain child of hard sci-fi, Dyson spheres were never intended to catch 100% of the stars energy. Thermodynamics say no. Still a cool test run. It's a Dyson onion. Who else finds these swarms of sails and transports aesthetically pleasing?

Exactly what I thought, and apparently there is something to it. Yes, it doesn't make sense cause light shouldn't pass through the first layer. But there would be some the bleed through of heat from panels. So you would have some layers after the first to catch the excess heat. Apparently it's called a Matrioshka Brain The more you know :P
