Pretty cool. This is very useful (and utilized) when the player character is being chased so the player knows exactly where to go while keeping the sense of urgency.

Thanks! Yeah, there are multiple techniques used for this purpose. I'm currently making a video on Breadcrumbing and may do some on other signposting techniques further down the line :)

And if the player decides not to follow the guidelines in an open world what to do?

Any good open world game is built around freedom of exploration and should facilitate players wandering off trail :) Though we can use additional techniques like signposting, breadcrumbing and landmarks to help the player find their way around more easily. Leading lines should be used in particular cases where you have some control over the composition and can help support and improve your levels, but I don't recommend completely relying on them to guide your player!

@@julienfrisson9372 No problem! Breadcrumbs are visual and/or gameplay elements we use to establish a path or direction for the player. I actually have a video on breadcrumbing on this channel if you'd like to learn more!
