HERE'S THE SECRET to covering the SOUND of the ring hitting the table! In bars, clubs and at parties, the natural sounds will 'cover' any small sound of the ring on the table. And when you want to do this in a quieter place, just say the words, "Watch carefully!" at the moment you drop the ring into your cupped hand. That way, your words will 'cover' any small sound.

Hey Jay, just wanna let you know that I started magic a couple years ago and really started to pick up on it about a year ago. I was never at a "good" level until I seen you perform because you show me what's all possible. So thanks for being such a big inspiration.

Thanks! I know how to do a lot of the magic tricks professionals use, but I never had the time to really put in to do them skillfully. Honestly it just makes me enjoy magic even more because I find the scripts more entertaining and when you know what the magician is doing, how difficult it is, and many single magic tricks have multiple pieces that are used to create the overall illusion - seeing them pull this off flawlessly is more impressive than when I didn't know magic! My favorite was a disappearing coin trick I pulled on my brother who is a cop and was working with the DEA basically as a detective...not an easy person to fool. I had three coins in my hand, and when I was supposed to open my hand and reveal only two coins, I'd messed up and there were still three coins, so I acted embarrassed and closed my hand, turned it over (while standing, so I couldn't drop a coin), tapped my hand then opened my hand to reveal only two coins. The look on my brothers face was priceless. Keep up the excellent work!

When I travel abroad and I don't speak the language, I do a little hand magic, this breaks the ice, and I am able to get people to interact with me, I often get invited to a meal or drinks and friendships are formed. My best trick in a bar is to make a Sleeve Glass (Straight Pint Glass) pass through a wooden table. Ace ending t a small act of Magic. :)

Two things to keep in mind, the ring has to be perfectly round, no stones and the table must have a cloth to muffle the sound of the ring falling

It is so refreshing to have someone who spends as much time on the 'technical' aspects as those 'soft' skills. When I travel to a country whose language I don't speak, it is amazing to me how open kids are to following me and 'playing'. As long as the 'adults' see me having 'fun' (making faces is a good opener) with their kid, they tolerate me quite well. Children will engage 100% of the time, where adults mostly not at all. I mention this because they have a sense of wonder not yet spoiled, and are similar to 'willing' participants in close-up. Performing anything-even if just making kids laugh at your expressions-without explanation is universal, and taps into something primal. We will question what we are _told_ more than what we are _shown_ . Adults have lost that feeling of awe & wonder that used to make their imagination take a stroll, but kids still have it. They actually THINK about what they see. What I appreciate about the videos of yours I've seen so far is that you have a deep appreciation for this obvious, but seldom explored aspect of _any_ interpersonal interaction. I would rather make one kid laugh than make 1,000 adults go, "How did he do that?"... Thanks for your thorough perspective, good sir. :)

You gave me an idea. Have a quarter that you know the date on in finger palm.Take a quarter from a spectator with the thumb and forefinger. Put the spectator's quarter on the table and place your hand and the extra quarter over the spectator's quarter. Lap the spectator's quarter. Feel around the quarter without looking at it and tell the spectator the date. Hand the spectator the quarter and have them verify the date.

Hey Jay, I loved the vid. How do you avoid the clink of the ring hitting the table when you first drop it? I've tried it on a hardwood table and one with a tablecloth and both make a noticeable clinking noise that would give the trick away.
@SankeyMagic
@SankeyMagic 7 жыл бұрын
There is usually so much ambient noise in most places, I wouldn't worry about it. BUT...if you are doing it some place that is DEAD SILENT - just say 'Watch!' the moment you drop the ring - EZ.
